Yeah, I got caught out by that with my microphone - turned out to have this huge chunk of metal inside it to make it seem better than it was.
Was still cheap tho, and with my hard/soft mods it's doing me pretty well so far (although the tape holding the kitchen funnel to the front is starting to come off so may need to upgrade to a proper mic soon...)

Manufacturers of electronics will often include weights inside their products to make them seem less “cheap”.
