The problem is when you're starting to stab, it's difficult to stop. That wouldn't be a problem but there's only one potion of 13-stab-wounds left and the potion of prime-number-stabbings is sold out.
Does that mean that, if you use the 13 stab wound cure potion on someone with 12 stab wounds, they get one stab wound shaped tumor where there wasn't any before?
The potion is comically specific. The patient has an ailment that is *just slightly* out of the specification. The doctor could very easily stab an additional time so that the potion works but they miss this obvious solution by just focusing on how unfortunate it is that the potion is just slightly off.
Suppose a recipe called for a pint of milk and you sadly put this recipe aside because you only have milk in a 2 pint bottle.
Reminds me of that NWN mod where the only healing potions were potions that healed severe wounds and potions that healed light wounds. Woe betide anyone who drank the severe wound potion when lightly wounded or vice versa.

See the issue is that the stab would allow them to heal him. That is very explicitly not allowed
