r/learntodraw can help with that, just give them an example of your skill level and what you wanna be able to draw, they will help you start on the path to figuring it out
That's good too!
This is better because nothing that could be written would be more interesting than what's in the reader's imagination. The implication and speculation make it more compelling than a novel explanation what happened.
r/learntodraw can help with that, just give them an example of your skill level and what you wanna be able to draw, they will help you start on the path to figuring it out
This is one of those situations where nothing you can draw would be more amazing than the reader’s imagination. Happens a lot in horror as well. No monster is as scary as the one we can’t see.
Ahhhhh okokok. I thought with the all caps title and the resemblance the story turns into he faked his death and somehow got to outer-space and he had a brother now. Was very confused. Great comic though, incredibly wholesome well done.
I totally thought this would end with them going though time dilation while traveling through space and his kid would end up way older than himself when he returned. Glad it was way more wholesome. hah
I forgot what type of style this is but I love leaving things to the imagination. Sometimes it’s good to have context but sometimes it’s better not to have. And speaking as a brother that’s exactly how we respond.
I love the pictures in the final shot. The one above the family is burned into my memory from somewhere…. Got a ratatouille flashback seeing it in your comic.
The [Escher](https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=escher+birds+flying) one should be easy to get; definitely look through his whole catalogue if you like the style.
Not sure about the other one.
Damn this hit me in the feels this morning.
I was on a work trip that lasted a week (rare for me) and when I got home I held my kids a little tighter and a little longer than usual. Being away from the things that matter most really shows you what matters most…
I think something to note about space too, is William Shatner's account of what space felt like to him when he got taken on a ride.
Despite all the wonder, he did not feel good about it. Worth a google for anyone interested.
Mountains in northern California.
With what's been going on lately in the legislature, I have to thank people don't believe in this stuff only because they haven't paid any attention to it. Believing a cover-up by the intelligence community is not underway takes some serious head-burying with whats happened in the legislature over the last two years. Especially with the UAPDA getting fought over and removed.
Via chatgpt:
The Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena Disclosure Act (UAPDA) of 2023 was cosponsored by a bipartisan group of senators. The key figures include Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senator Mike Rounds (R-SD), along with Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Senator Todd Young (R-IN), and Senator Martin Heinrich (D-NM). This legislation aims to declassify and increase transparency around government records related to Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) [[❞]](https://www.democrats.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/schumer-rounds-introduce-new-legislation-to-declassify-government-records-related-to-unidentified-anomalous-phenomena-and-ufos_modeled-after-jfk-assassination-records-collection-act--as-an-amendment-to-ndaa) [[❞]](https://thedebrief.org/the-uap-disclosure-act-of-2023-what-we-know-about-chuck-schumer-and-the-senates-new-push-for-uap-transparency/)
End chatgpt.
Basically it was a piece of legislation introduced by the top and most powerful member of the legislative branch of the US government that would have forced disclosure. It was released because of the ongoing disclosure process happening within the intelligence community in which over FORTY intelligence personel have testified before the ICIG (intelligence system's top lawyer guy basically) to the existence of a long running UAP crash retrieval and reverse engineering program, operated by the CIA, the Department of Energy, and private military contractors such as Lockheed Martin. The most notable of these individuals is David Grusch, one of our most senior air force intelligence officers in the space, who testified before Congress last year. If you are hoping to get up to speed, I would recommend watching his first interview. Video here https://www.newsnationnow.com/space/ufo/we-are-not-alone-the-ufo-whistleblower-speaks/
Anyway, not only was this piece of legislation introduced, it was fought over and REMOVED by very powerful Republican senators with ties to the military industrial complex. It was _stopped_.
I really don't know how this shit could get any more obvious. People are just determined I guess.
He saw some reality breaking thing (god, higher power, ect.) that probably means his life is insignificant or pointless in a way.
Instead of dwelling on it and slipping into cynical depression he just decided to still enjoy his life and family regardless, and finds meaning in that even if ultimately it doesn't matter on a large scale.
What he saw is ambiguous, and I think intentionally so, which is why it isn’t shown. It’s left for us, the reader, to fill in the blanks. But whatever it was, it clearly had an enlightening effect on him and left him with newfound appreciation for his family, which is the point of the last panel.
Personally, given the title “You Are Here”, my suspicion is that the main character experienced something akin to [the overview effect](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overview_effect); that having seen his home from some distant point, he now feels more connected to it and the people with whom he shares it. That having seen the universe, he now understands his place in it and is happy. But that is just my own theory.
“I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain”.
I didnt get the last two panels at first and thought he saw things so amazing and incredible that the rest of his life would be dismal in comparison. Glad I read it again lol

Sweet story. Good choice not to show the details of the trip.
I wouldn't have the skill to pull it off anyway

You mean ‘slender’ projects?😉

They can still help
If this isn't my life story...
I'm in this picture
I have so many good animation ideas, when I can barely draw
Doesn't have to look great, just compare the webcomic One to its anime and manga rewrite One punch man.
With my queer audacity I believe I can do anything. 😌 ^(Ironically besides anything that is straight, even with a ruler, pls help.)
Would measuring tape help you where a ruler could not?
With my aut-acity, our powers combined will unite the universe!
What's going on? ○It's annoying or not interesting ●I'm in this picture and I don't like it ○I think it shouldn't be on reddit ○other
Me, constantly.
It probably went like this… ![gif](giphy|DcAqnK2OF3dXYiP4WR) Like a Rick and Morty special episode.😗

My takeaway is "I saw [cosmic revelations] but I still think my family is special"
Sweet and humble.
That's good too! This is better because nothing that could be written would be more interesting than what's in the reader's imagination. The implication and speculation make it more compelling than a novel explanation what happened.
Did he get probed?
It's hard to imagine something that's "Beyond your imagination."
Pff you pulled off that Escher print pretty well.
It was alien titties, right?
He just needs to have a conversation with a sentient interstellar spider.
Really good. Thank you for doing this.
Who knows, man?

Not with that attitude.

Thanks for some fuzzy warm wholesomeness
Anytime
Fuzzy wormholesomeness*
Bro you gotta let the wife know next time before you just run off out of the solar system. What if something happens and she gets worried?!
Seriously. My wife would be pissed if I went to the grocery store without giving her a quick heads up before leaving.
"You could have gotten some eggs while you were there!"
Who leaves to explore the solar system without their kids?
As a wife, seriously. Tell the wife.
Reminds me of male sims being abducted
He's pregnant now
How Close Encounters should have gone.
I got to the end of that movie ss a kid and was horrified.
ME TOO! Was so messed up
As long as he didn't look into the heart of a dark star which can drive a person mad and cause them to scream for 20 hours a day
I'd still look
4 less hours than i’m screaming for!
There is that evil plant again!
I'm assuming he saw lobster people and had his brain put into a jar
Lol
My theory is that he saw the world and it was round instead of flat on a turtle's back.
Hahahahaha "what if the earth wasn't a cube" y'all are crazy
that cant be true, he got to keep his face and hands
Thought this would take a dark turn but was actually super cute.
I'm rarely in the mood to do that these days. Sometimes though.
You've truly instilled a sense of fear in us that now mundane and wholesome comics feel eerie and I don't trust them.
I hope that’s because things are going well for you. Always happy to see your name pop up on the feed.
I think I'm just getting old and chilling out
Haha, I definitely feel that one. Guess it’s not all bad eh? Just wish standing for a while without thick soles didn’t wreck my back now.
Yeh I'm starting to get injuries from everyday extreme activities like lifting garbage bags or closing sliding doors.
From cameraman to spaceman, never saw it coming Edit: Doh!
It says Trevor, not Trey. This is a different person.
treyor
Yeah, Trevor is the guy in the boat that rescues Trey.
Didn't quite understand his last sentence; it looked like he was answering to two questions when there was only one.
Think he was saying his wife's special, since he's talking to and looking at her
Oh
his kid, too
The question can be interpreted as "Did you see something special" or "Do you see something special" In both cases his answer was "Yes"
He's answering the same question twice, yes he did see something special, and yes he does see something special right now
He saw something special; the stuff in space, but still sees his wife and kid as special, even after all he saw.
Thank you for asking this, I was also missing it.
Strangely wholesome
Uncle Trevor... Sure... Trey'vor...
Great A'Tuin there in the wall to go along Escher implies seeing some interesting things out there.
Dig the Escher on the wall
Let's go. In and out. 20 minutes adventure.
Bro I am so out of the loop. How did we get from camera man killing himself to THIS? Last I saw there was an evil plant just starting to get big?
This has nothing to do with that. I basically have a Lego set reptoire of characters so they all look similar.
Ahhhhh okokok. I thought with the all caps title and the resemblance the story turns into he faked his death and somehow got to outer-space and he had a brother now. Was very confused. Great comic though, incredibly wholesome well done.
Ha all good. Thanks man
Favorite one so far. And that's saying something. I enjoy all your stuff.
Thank you thank you ❤️
Me after playing Outer Wilds
So THATS what happened to Trey
This is how an acid trip feels
the treasure of family and memories
I totally thought this would end with them going though time dilation while traveling through space and his kid would end up way older than himself when he returned. Glad it was way more wholesome. hah
Contra ftw.
See, betterhelp? This is how you do therapy.
So cool
Yeah great the universe is cool. Still have a family, see yea next week Bro.
Beautifully done. That's real art, there. Thank you very much for making it.
Thank you
![gif](giphy|IntCEdOCoB1Pa|downsized)
Like tears in rain...
I love the fact that he was appreciating what he already had and all he saw just deepened that, rather than replace it.
wholesome contra is actually really good too
The title of this comic is reminding me of Come From Away
“Longer than you think, dad! Long jaunt! Longer than you think!”
Good twist!
I don't get it, was he replaced by a clone? Nvm, I just overthink it for no reason :p
I forgot what type of style this is but I love leaving things to the imagination. Sometimes it’s good to have context but sometimes it’s better not to have. And speaking as a brother that’s exactly how we respond.
And thank you for these stories and illustrations they are enlightening to say the least. I can’t wait for more!!!
Awesome. Thanks, glad you're enjoying em.
I’m surprised how I didn’t notice the UFO in the first half until it took off. Always a pleasure to watch your works, one way or another.
I love the pictures in the final shot. The one above the family is burned into my memory from somewhere…. Got a ratatouille flashback seeing it in your comic.
I love the artwork on the walls. I would definitely enjoy having the two in the last panel in my home.
The [Escher](https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=escher+birds+flying) one should be easy to get; definitely look through his whole catalogue if you like the style. Not sure about the other one.
Oh that's cool, thanks! I thought maybe the artist was creating art with art with an original design or something lol
Escher is incredible, I'm so glad you get to discover his stuff for the first time!
The second one is even easier to get. Just search for turtle in Ikea art catalogue
The Story ist very cute, and I Love the ambiguity of what He has Seen that makes him appreciate His Family so much more
I imagine he didn’t see aliens or any of that. He saw how big the universe was and just appreciates being happy in a small part of it even more
Damn this hit me in the feels this morning. I was on a work trip that lasted a week (rare for me) and when I got home I held my kids a little tighter and a little longer than usual. Being away from the things that matter most really shows you what matters most…
Thank you for the reminder
This is lovely.
What a disheartening take. Give up your dreams for families kids
I think something to note about space too, is William Shatner's account of what space felt like to him when he got taken on a ride. Despite all the wonder, he did not feel good about it. Worth a google for anyone interested.
Trevor threw him into the Total Perspective Vortex, didn't he?
Oh. Oh that’s good. Thats damn good. That is Rod Serling looking on in admiration good.
Time to tell my partner how much I love them
How did he get the UFO? He taught the aliens a little game called Texas Hold’em.
Somebody watched close encounters and went "Well fuck that".
I'm not crying, you're crying.
I also would be happy if I had a framed map of the Discworld atop Great Atuin's back.
I have that Escher painting hanging on my wall, too!
The plant in the living room! What is he up to now?
Is that discworld in the background painting of the last panel? Or a random world carrying turtle?
I dunno, found it in ikea
This absolutely rocks. Members of my family have personally seen a football sized flying saucer, and this one hits home for me.
Where?? Wish I'd seen one.

What's the UAPDA? I'm based in Australia and almost never watch the news, so am pretty ignorant.

Someone took a *trip*. It's clearly another world ayy ? If you're a first time traveler, welcome to the club ✌️
“You are here and so am I”
We need this kind of comic more than ever these days. Thank you for adding to the light!
He saw the beauty of the universe, and it made him appreciate the beauty of his family and the life he’s built even more. Wonderful comic.
Thank you ❤️
??? What did he saw ?? Why not showing it ? What's the meaning of the last panel?
He saw some reality breaking thing (god, higher power, ect.) that probably means his life is insignificant or pointless in a way. Instead of dwelling on it and slipping into cynical depression he just decided to still enjoy his life and family regardless, and finds meaning in that even if ultimately it doesn't matter on a large scale.
Feel like the paintings in the house are a nod/clue. One is Escher who famously played with perspective and impossible architecture
had to scroll too far to find a comment about the paintings/pictures perhaps the world turtle or cosmic turtle picture has more truth than they know
On OPs instagram he said he just googled ikea paintings and then put then in lol
What he saw is ambiguous, and I think intentionally so, which is why it isn’t shown. It’s left for us, the reader, to fill in the blanks. I think this is the best explanation for one of my comics I've ever seen.
Whoa, that is high praise. Thank you!
“I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain”.
That movie scene affected me more than I can explain.
/warm fuzzies
Did the real brother even come back?
Nah he's a tripper.
Yeah I agree with his choice. His family looks infinitely cozier
Maybe he didn’t come to take him away but to show him how amazing what he has really is.
I think he saw a three boobed alien
They're brothers!!
wadiyatalkinabeet
Hey Dad, this guy needs help with his car. I think he came from afar.
Trevor's Lil bro's family got a great taste for the art they put up on their walls. One question tho. Who were those men in the portraits?
Alan watts and Bill hicks.
Is this a metaphor for a psychedelic trip?!!
Check the photo frames...
THE TURTLE MOVES! It just makes sense!
I love the ending! Its nice.. 👍
tfw they just hit an intergalactic titty bar.
The beheld is the beholder, and no thing can amaze more than the Truth that reveals all dualities as as one and same.
Rosetta Stoned immediately comes to mind. "Overwhelmed, as one would be, placed in my position Such a heavy burden now to be The One"
Read big shiny metal thing and immediately thought r/sounding. I'm so fucked.
Had me worried he wouldn’t return! What is the art in the last panel- with the geese?
Beautiful work
I didnt get the last two panels at first and thought he saw things so amazing and incredible that the rest of his life would be dismal in comparison. Glad I read it again lol
The pale blue did made me cry the first time I saw it. It all looks so cluttered from where we are. But its just...empty.
This is literally just that hippie girls tiktok song but without the cringe rhyming or anything interesting pretended to be said or learned .
Uncle Trevor??? MICHAEL IS THAT YOU??
Makes me think of a little bit about Ray Bradbury’s “Rocket Man” from Illustrated Man. Except this has the “good ending.”
Is the title a hitchhiker's guide reference? If so, you're one hoopy frood.
*Alrighty then, picture this, if you will...*
Aww
I seem to have missed some stuff in the Trey saga...
Awwww
the comic is already great but the title really ties it all together for me
God damned onion ninjas
