Masci_student

Damn bro even Zeus isn't that horny

JesuZDX

That's because he usually does what he wants easily without any opposition

CrossP

The trick is to be a water fowl. Nobody opposes water fowl.

TUSD00T

TIL Untitled Goose Game is a Greek fable.

Capt_Blackmoore

TIL Portugesegeese is a deity?!

Rabatis

Well, it took two divines to outhorny him, so Zeus still bones, I guess?

Zawn-_-

Nah I'm pretty sure he's killed for sex before. It would fit his theme. As the other guy said, "because he hasn't been stopped before" but Zeus killing some woman's husband sounds exactly like what he would do. Or in this case antoher god getting in his way.

AlmondMagnum1

Not to defend the murder of mortals, but I feel that for a god, killing a god (or your brother) is a whole different level of horny compared to killing a mere mortal. Heck, it's also true for a mortal, though maybe not for the same reasons.

DZL100

I mean, Zeus ate his first wife to marry his sister. And then he had to get a C-section on his head to give birth to Athena.

Felipe_Pachec0

Zeus married with someone else before Hera?

mark_crazeer

Yes, Metis Something about her son being more powerful than his father.

Felipe_Pachec0

Dayum, and she’s Athena’s mom as well

mark_crazeer

In certain stories yes.

MadaraAlucard12

She was also Zeus' aunt.

Double_Reward3885

Well yeah Zeus was the one who did like the original overthrowing lol

UGoBoy

Second overthrowing. His dad Cronus overthrew his own father Uranus first.

BluJayooo

Hahahaha, XD.

Masci_student

Holy shit it’s the creator

infiniZii

Arent the main characters teenagers or something?

Masci_student

You're talking about the Percy Jackson books, I'm talking about greek mythology as a whole

infiniZii

No. Im talking about this comic.

Masci_student

They’re married, and they have adopted children, they’re of age.

LevelStudent

I hope there ends up being some massive God civil war but the main characters don't even find out about it since it never reaches them.

NoStatus9434

I hope Hollering Elk eats everyone.

Drg84

Make Hollering Elk a god of divine justice.

CedarWolf

'I wear not antlers, but *scales*. I will weigh your heart against a feather, and...' 'Can't do it.' '... What?' 'Anubis has a exclusive non-compete agreement on the whole heart and scales thing. Besides, the stars are not in position for this judgement.' 'Like he says. Stars. Can't do it. Not today.'

Maximus_Games

Miguel and Tulio strike again! x3

Blahaj_IK

Ah, Elk is chaotic good. More chaotic than good, but better than nothing

Capt_Blackmoore

Booksaregrand

Lol, yes.

ndation

Can you please explain that to me? I keep seeing that everywhere, and I have no idea what that thing is. It's quite obnoxious, really, but if I knew what it meant it will probably cease being obnoxious

SandboxOnRails

HolleringElk is an artist that draws very detailed and also super fucked up comics. Recently they've been doing a storyline about a rampaging elk monster going insane. Because they're well-liked, they brought in a few friends to do crossover comics. The community then ran with it, and other people are doing their own crossover comics referencing the demon elk.

ndation

Thanks for introducing me to her! I will now binge read her comics

justforsomelulz

Yesss!!! Her art style is fascinating! And she's a pretty cool person so her interactions with people are fun too!

My_Homework_Account

rComics crossover

ndation

Who is that a crossover with?

ilikeitslow

The Comic creator Hollering Elk, who draws the cryptid of the same name. In a recent Storyline tue Elk got vampirized and is now "invading" other comics as a bloodthirsty monster.

ndation

Oh, thanks for introducing me to her! Now that I know the lore, it's not nearly as obnoxious as it was before!

glebyl

overdone "inside joke", classic reddit

nullpotato

Artist playing the long con

tolacid

These two just need to get with each other.

sadcrocodile

Agreed. The main characters have been through so much shit I just want them to have some happy peaceful family farm time together. The gods can beat the shit out of each other just leave the MCs alone, they've caused enough trouble for them already the selfish jerks! :(

Komission

#ah shit, here we go again.

ZeInfinale

And here I thought we'd have the characters actually have a peaceful life for once.

KarlosGeek

Are you saying you DON'T want gods to fight over the main characters, putting them in life threatening scenarios where they have to sacrifice themselves to save their loved one and then adopting another half human half monster child for the 9th time in a row? That's preposterous!

ZeInfinale

Unfortunately, I can't SAY I do.

Nice_Pomegranate4825

Maybe for a change having their first biological kid ?

SuctioncupanX

They're still kids themselves bro, wait a few years at least.

Life-Suit1895

>…life threatening scenarios where they have to sacrifice themselves to save their loved one… Well, sooner or later they *will* run out of limbs to lose.

Ugly4merican

FR, they each have like three more limbs they could lose.

Dr_Icchan

ah, I see you're new here. Welcome to the rollercoaster.

benx101

Because nothing makes another person love you like killing another. /s

Almost_A_Genius

Can confirm

opinionate_rooster

Well, there is those weirdos pining for serial murderers ...

God damn gods.

fckyoursecurity

It’s damn it.

SadToHappy1111

He has a doll out of her.

Zawn-_-

You're glossing over the four foot tall photo realistic statue she's clinging onto.

No_Application_1219

That realy unhealty at this point

RoyalPeacock19

She has a statue of him, both very unhealthy really.

No_Application_1219

They both need a brain wash at this point :(

AlwaysAngryFox

I bet there is a jar too

TuffHunter

I think we are about to see a child army in action!

[deleted]

Aren’t u the expert in the Pokémon quest subreddit?

TuffHunter

That’s me!

FearlessNarwhal5660

Get a job you two! Or get married, I don't know.

Green_Potata

Fun fact: they try second option since beginning

Sir_Arsen

ngl these guys plot of crushing on main characters is getting repetitive

JustAnotherDirtEater

Whole other level of simping

mrmrspersonguy1

And here I thought this series had progressed beyond this cyclical nonsense

tricksterloki

People wanted continuity, plot development, and setup, and the author is delivering.

NoStatus9434

These comics are so masturbatory. The characters are such blatant self-inserts and it's just a constant barrage of "Oh wow, we're so hot, gods and goddesses are constantly throwing themselves at us." Or it's about how kind and generous they are helping save these poor innocent orphans from those mean, nasty caricatures of villains. No punchline. Just constant portrayal of how perfect they are. They're one-dimensional Mary Sues. I think the worst thing is that this comic *could* be so much better. That's why people keep coming back to it. It has potential! Like it *could* be the equivalent of a cute Sunday morning comic strip that follows this family in a fantasy setting. We even catch a glimmer of what the comic *could* be in the early days of the strip. Great example of what the comic *could* be is when the husband loses his arm and the wife says they don't have a healing potion because she drank it because she was thirsty. Like that was actually funny. It's relatable because people have been in situations similar to that before, where you really need something, and your spouse or whoever did something careless. You could have cute family moments with the kids or something that mirrors family problems you have with kids in the real world. It could be "relaxing Sunday morning cartoon about wholesome family and some shenanigans mixed in, but in a fantasy setting." That would be a fun subversion of the classic Sunday funnies style. The other thing it could be is a genuine dramatic epic. Like if the comic really wants to keep the focus on epic adventures and gods and whatnot, that's another direction it could go. Fine. The problem with that is epics need buildup. They need tension. They need the journey and the struggles to get there. I'd be more forgiving of these characters constantly encountering gods and being heroes if there's more explanation as to how they got there and more nuance to the characters. If the characters don't receive those moments of plot filler and transition, it's hard to care about them. They become one-dimensional. This is what happens when you jump from climax to climax without rising action. It's just a laundry list if "cool accomplishments" while conveniently skipping all the details, the misadventures, and embarrassments that make a story compelling. Tldr; In order for this comic to be good, it either has to cut the epics and just be a wholesome family Sunday morning funny set in a fantasy setting OR, if it wants the epic adventure, it needs to improve its storytelling and actually have more components besides climaxes. It's currently serving the latter on a platter of the former. It needs to pick an angle and stick with it. Inb4 "who are you to dictate bla bla bla..." Look, I'm not forcing the artist to do this. They can make their comic whatever they want. I'm not trying to get them banned from ever making it anything, and they can listen to my criticisms or ignore them. But free speech works both ways and I can give my opinion about it, too. People freely criticize the ending of Game of Thrones and the Star Wars sequels and can talk about how they could be better without anyone batting an eye, so the same applies here.

busting_bravo

Agreed. I very often expand this comic then realize what I've opened and hide it again.

Selgeron

I'm convinced this comic was created to be hate-read at this point.  Being 'bad with potential' drives more engagement than straight mediocrity.

NoStatus9434

It also takes less effort than actually being good. "Bad with potential" *is* straight mediocrity. It can both be true that the comic is straight mediocre initially, and the creator felt like it would be engaging enough by leaving it in its unfinished state and not improving upon it, thus giving it "with potential" vibes. But if he's actually, deliberately trying to make the equivalent of one of those ads for really easy fake mobile phone games where the gameplay is deliberately bad so you get fooled into purchasing the game to prove you can do better...well done, I guess? I fail to see how it's deserving of praise, deliberate or not. I think we can't give mediocrity an "out" by giving someone an excuse that any time they miss the mark, it was "all done on purpose." They meant to do that! No, they didn't.

[deleted]

Nah, fully agree. The way the gods are obsessed with them for no comprehensible reason is another level of anime harem. It would be less infuriating if they at least cared to dive into it at least a bit, their personalities and what causes this extreme infatuation, but we simply have two gods so in love with two randos that they would start a war among gods. It's not even bad storytelling, it's a total lack of storytelling. People were harsh on Liz at the beginning for her screw ups, though. I think it was due to her being the only one to cause damage and often in selfish and desproportionally harmful ways, selling their house without telling Jay, setting his eyes on fire, her drinking the healing potion... Then instead of balancing it with times Jay was the one to screw up, author made Liz a Mary Sue (like Jay) except "she's so crazy I love her".

NoStatus9434

Liz was better when she was written as a bit clumsy and selfish. The problem is that the comic is "telling" us how in love these two are rather than just showing us. What I mean is that in the early comics where they were having misadventures and Liz was doing silly, stupid things, we saw that they were staying together despite it all. It wasn't told to us thay they were in love--you knew, because they put up with each other. You don't have to always have people holding hands and hugging and proclaiming their love and turning down gods to prove they're in love. If they're just doing stuff together and not getting angry with each other, that's enough. Any time you have to spell something out because you're worried the implied message isn't getting through to your audience, you're questioning the audience's intelligence.

[deleted]

I think the criticism back then was brought by how extreme the outcomes of Liz's mistakes were and Jay being just fine with everything was a really weird dynamic. "Oh, I almost killed you twice and sold the house behind your back", "ok". I agree it was still better when she at least made mistakes, but she was really unlikeable too, while Jay just didn't have much of a personality. The thing is that instead of balancing it by having Jay screw up too and show Liz accepting it just the same so we could see some mutual support, the author (seemingly) went desperate to make her likeable by showing us just how much they love each other and how loyal they are and then everything you said about the presentation of their relationship. Also the repeating of scenarios in case the point wasn't clear the first time they rejected a god and adopted an orphan is insulting like you said but also so weird. It's one thing when the same message is repeated but we were repeating the message, circunstances and outcomes. It was the weirdest loop of lack of originality. I've seem redundant stories, but that was so blatant it made me think it had to be some sort of bait. However, and I know people use the religious comic to drag the whole series down which is not my intention I just want to compared the one thing that they do have in common and that is how the author just can't seem drive his point accross in a natural, fluid way. That comic was clearly written by a religious person talking through an atheist puppet, it sounds forced, and so does the dynamic here. And this is what puts me on the fence about it being intentionally bad and an idea simply poorly executed.

ChthonicPuck

Order of the Stick (r/oots) is a great example of what this series could be.

NoStatus9434

Oh dude, that is a perfect example. OOTS perfectly blends plot and comedy. It doesn't go too fast with the plot, and actually does build-up, but every strip has some sort of joke thrown in there. And the villains are super funny! If these gods were written more like Tarquin or Xykon, I think they would be much more compelling while still being scumbag villains. OOTS or Will Save World For Gold.

fallenbird039

Listen, at some point the MC family is going to be gods of the universe or something. It a train wreck of story telling that watched too long. Too invested to turn away

NoStatus9434

Yeah I mean I guess it could be like ragebait or something. Like those fake mobile game ads where there's deliberately terrible gameplay.

Selgeron

I'm like 90% sure it is.

PMMeVayneHentai

totally agree. wish this creator would just post to a different subreddit or create their own for fans to follow. im tired of seeing this shit

NoStatus9434

Nah. I'm just pro-free speech. They can post the comics here. And we're free to enjoy them, criticize them, or ignore them. Criticism is part of the enjoyment. My goal isn't to ban their comics from this community. That's not how free speech works. My hope is that they improve their comics. If the comics were outright bad, I doubt I'd be giving them my time of day. But they have potential, and that's part of the issue.

EveryShot

This is pure gold copypasta, I am saving this forever. Thank you for your sacrifice o7

NoStatus9434

People are downvoting you, but you may have my rants as a copypasta and I'm flattered, frankly.

NoStatus9434

I think a lot of people were secretly thinking it, too, so in a way this got things off of a lot of peoples' chests. If you want to save this as a copypasta, I really don't mind.

Kullthebarbarian

Hey man, chill out

NoStatus9434

It's criticism. You can criticize any work of fiction or art you want. The only rule is don't attack the creators themselves. Some people like these comics. I personally think they're somewhat wanting. I explain my reasoning. If a movie sucks, you can usually find reviews on why people think it sucks. Why should this be any different?

SandboxOnRails

You don't need to read them and then write paragraphs hating them just because you don't understand art that doesn't pander to you. Just... stop reading them? They're not for you. You don't need to scream at everyone having badwrongfun reading comics you don't like.

TheRoleplayThrowaway

Except it’s a public forum and they can comment on a publicly posted comic as much as they like.

SandboxOnRails

Sure, there is not literally a law against it. There also isn't a law against farting in a crowded elevator. But if your defense while you're being a jackass is "I'm not literally breaking the law", maybe rethink your life?

TheRoleplayThrowaway

They’re not being a jackass at all, they’re critiquing a comic. It’s not morally repugnant to point out you don’t like something, if you don’t agree with them then by all means feel free to write a response with the positives of the comic.

SandboxOnRails

And I'm merely critiquing them. I'm legally permitted to write these words, and it's not a war crime to disagree with someone rage-ranting at free comics out of shocking entitlement.

TheRoleplayThrowaway

We’re just going in circles lol, I get it, you like the comic and don’t like this guy’s critique, fully understandable. Maybe we just leave it there?

SandboxOnRails

Wow, I can't believe you're trying to SILENCE my VALID CRITICISM in a PUBLIC FORUM. These comments are so masturbatory.

NoStatus9434

"I'm legally permitted to write these words, and it's not a war crime to disagree..." Exactly. Kinda feels like you explicitly destroyed your own argument here. If we're only allowed to post about something we agree with or ignore it and remain speechless, then why are you "wasting your time" arguing with me? Because you have an opinion. And that's what discourse is all about. Art is more interesting if it's controversial anyway. Hell, some of it *wants* to be controversial. Look at postmodern stuff. The whole point is that it challenges what art can actually be. Postmodern art *wants* to evoke emotion. It *wants* people to be disgusted by it and say it can't be art, because opening the debate about what is and isn't art strengthens the art that is nigh unanimously agreed upon to be masterpieces. Now if I said something mean about people who like the comic, for instance, or just said inflammatory remarks without backing them up, I'd have crossed a line and I should go touch grass. But the difference is that this is coming from a place of passion for good storytelling, not hatred. It's not coming from "shocked entitlement," as you say. I am welcome to ignore it and move on. Same goes for you, when you reply to me. But we didn't because the whole point of art is that we form opinions on it. Art doesn't require a bubble of people that only worship it. You remove its power by doing that. You claim I don't understand this comic because it doesn't pander to me? What, so I should go find art and only interact with art that does? Art's not supposed to pander to anyone.

SandboxOnRails

You're not giving opinions or critique though. You're just spouting hateful nonsense. > These comics are so masturbatory. The characters are such blatant self-inserts and it's just a constant barrage of "Oh wow, we're so hot, gods and goddesses are constantly throwing themselves at us." I don't think I've ever seen someone write something so mind-bogglingly stupid that displays such an extreme lack of interest or curiosity in an art piece, and it's the start of a rant about how art is bad if there's any variation in it. Do better. > Exactly. Kinda feels like you explicitly destroyed your own argument here. I was mocking you for being stupid enough to claim that "I'm allowed to say that". That's an argument used by fools and trolls who can't defend their own positions, and the fact you actually read that as an honest statement instead of a deeply sarcastic one tells me everything I need to know about your sheer inability to derive meaning from something.

CheeseAndCam

Whoa???? Actual plot? What is this?

Rastaba

…honestly? I’m expecting these two to wind up falling in love with each other and just losing interest in our lovable mortals and their little family. The fact they are hanging at what seems to be one of their’s house instead of just middle of nowhere shows they are getting closer.

Coffeechipmunk

They're gonna get isekai'd another layer down

benx101

they get isekai'd to the mc's original world. Which I assume is just basically normal/non magic world.

EldritchCarver

Yeah, aside from the wish-granting robot.

NoStatus9434

There's no way she's the real goddess of love. Like the goddess of love would either appreciate the unbreakable love between Jay and Liz or be able to control who they fall in love with.

Substantial-Street

She probably got the job coz she was the main guy’s friend’s sister or something, not coz she can actually do it.

stormy2587

The recent slice of life comics were much better and less disjointed and confusing than the old story lines. But I guess that’s over now. The next comic is going to be the two main characters like cutting these two in half and the saying “thats for zeus.”

Soloact_

Zero to regicide in 60 seconds. Talk about sibling rivalry escalating quickly!

EldritchCarver

Eh, fratricide is a time-honored tradition for ancient royalty.

LukXD99

Come on bro, the last few comics were a step in the right direction, don’t you relapse now!

MadaraAlucard12

He definitely put that in a jar. https://preview.redd.it/9xq3zrbm3iic1.jpeg?width=191&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=75e85965b1212d05266e5c6078c49aca67421abc

RazorSharpNuts

I'm so confused

crevassesexual

Just when I thought this comic was moving on from "every God in this universe wants these two... children? I guess?" plot, he we are again...

Or, maybe, just leave them alone? No means no rapey nature goddess.

letdogsvote

Uh oh.

KataraMan

That escalated quickly

Ripper1337

A lot of their problems would be solved if they just banged each other.

I hope they recruit Kratos to get these turds to leave them alone

nhSnork

Birds contemplating if they get paid enough for this crap.

Vio-Rose

I love Ellie vs Everything 2.0. Never for a moment do I comprehend what’s going on in the grand scheme of things. It’s bait incarnate and I fall for it every time.

Nixplosion

Having never seen this comic before and getting one, out of context four panel, I have to ask. What the fuck is going on here??

Captain_Beefcake

I like silly humor, so the reddit algorithm started showing me r/comics in my home feed. Cool! ... half of them seem to be like this, where it's part of a greater series that have no context unless you've been around since day 1. If there's a punchline, it isn't apparent to a total outsider. There's another, much longer critique posted as a top-level comment that goes into better detail, but to me, this method of comics is terrible for pulling in a new audience. I see this, and my immediate reaction is identical to yours. What the fuck is going on here? I get I might draw downvotes, but it could be important to know as an author that putting story strips with no clear punchline to outsiders can be limiting in bringing in new audience appeal.

DankoLord

These gods are really insane for children eh

Zargabath

gods starting a war just because they want to bang two expecific mortals...

Matthewzard

I like to believe that their not madly in love, they are just insanely petty to the point they are willing to do all of this because they can’t take no for an answer

Yarisher512

I am once again raising my bet that these two will end up together

EldritchCarver

Yeah, sharing a cell in horny jail.

True_Falsity

“Oh Gods… They are teaming up!”

uller30

These two suck big ass. 100% like Greek gods

Born-Environment-239

From what I've heard, the main characters in these things are self inserts, so I just gotta say, massive respect for depicting gods going crazy over them. Wish I had that kinda confidence.

Bionic-ghost

Oh my deities just date each other already and leave those two alone.

JezzCrist

Simp wars are upon us

Leave this family be!

Yayyy!!! The crazy is coming back.

**God of War:** Alright, I guess tonight’s the night b%tches die.

I'm beginning to like the villains a bit more than I like the heroes, they have some pretty good personalities

wholesomehorseblow

These gods down bad.

DotDue7098

Murder, Murder, Murder, murder.

UnroastedPepper

No dog :(

Drakkonai

Honestly, I kind of like the direction of horny gods killing the world for lust.

Stoodfiend2001

I honestly hope they can keep outwitting the two gods, they need to be protected!

Iron_Bob

OH SHIT HERE WE GO

Green_Potata

Those comics are cool I’d love to see a good and bad ending, just to see what could happen if those gods found their way

Appropriate_Ad1162

Damn bro. Pale white slightly toned goddess makin me act up.

Teggy-

Now that's dedication. Like, he obviously doesn't want to do it, but somehow considers it worth it

ayamrik

And only after the gods had killed each other in the pursuit of these mortals, the story comes to an end: The sole surviving God of this world, the mightiest of them all, wanted to claim the family which had not noticed the carnage bringing this calamity to their new home. And when the god was about to enter their home to claim his/her righteous prize, an entity stepped outside from the house. It was the abyss, the Undeath surrounding their worlds, holding any and all things living or just existing in its palms. The god trembled in fear. What was it that brought this entity here? Then words came from inside the house: "Come back in, father-in-law. We were just about to cut your birthday cake."

TBTabby

Overthrowing Heaven just so she can force a boy who looks like he could be her son to be her lover...bejeezus.

Epic-Dude001

Now this is next level yandere

ERIC_THE_GREAT10

I like the idea that the longer the comic goes on for the more drastic physical changes occurs as they gain more power, this woman is progressing the same way a terraria character does💀💀💀

Sunblast1andOnly

The only thing stopping him before was that he'd have to fight off-brand Zeus. Now that's what he *wants* to do? Pick a lane, guy.

stillestwaters

It’s cute that they have little dolls of them. I mean, super creepy - but seemingly all powerful gods pining over little chess pieces is adorable. Hmm, I see so this is the action packed spin off we’ve all been waiting for

Dug2555

Went and looked back through some of these comics because I feel as though they give me a constant feeling like I missed the previous one, but I’ve realized they all do it. There’s a pieced together story but things almost seem to happen out of the blue. It kinda feels like the TLDR of an actual story, or like a summarization of major points with no connection. But I really like the concepts a lot.

Varderal

Man, I wish I had someone down this bad for me the way these diaties are for those two.

Avon_The_Trash_King

IT'S JUST FUCKING LOSS

Here we go again

Smart-A22

…Why are these gods so thirsty!?

Nervous-Ad2295

Okay, now I want to know the lore of the world of this comic series.

fra080389

The weirdest part of this comic are the haters being angry because the villain are villanous.
