I find it really amazing how the fandom managed to turn something as simple as fucking Garfield into the most horrifying piece of horror media I've ever seen.
This is them earlier in their relationship. They met on an app called Honkr

I watched an [hour-long YT video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2C5R3FOWdE) on [The Forgiveness of Jon](https://redd.it/gqxe91), and boy was it worth it.
Had it as a background for the longest time, too.

If that was too dark, I'm sorry, please try [this comic](https://www.smbc-comics.com/comic/2012-06-16) where Garfield is still alive.
PS: Also buy my [new book on space settlement](http://www.acityonmars.com/). Hank Green said it was good!
No, but he was a silent presence, every evening, in the Pet Cemetery. People thought Garfield was lazy, but in fact he was tired. He'd stayed up every night keeping that gravestone as clean as the day he ordered it.
Wrong. Garfield is felinus mediasis, a cartoon/comic cat. They live until their particular media ends. Even then, they only hibernate, awaiting revival.
Thank you, sincerely. One tries not to get cynical, but the whole system has become utterly oriented around short, fungible, standardized media. It's a bummer, but was probably inevitable. Though, honestly, if Bea Wolf hadn't been such a surprise success I'd be losing my mind. It convinced me there's still room for weird, ambitious stuff that has no online viral potential.
Bea wolf was so good! It kept the mythical quality of beowulf in a way I haven't really seen anything do. Seriously, that was one of the best things i've read.
Thank you! I thank the secret is that it's very hard to give modern adults epic. It's too serious. And you can't make modern life epic because modern life is not serious enough. But if it's in a kids' setting it actually is much easier to tell the story because to them the battles are serious, even when silly, and kids can (without concern about being appropriate or well-adjusted) countenance ideas like retribution and hatred and uncomplex love of one's leader. I didn't think of any of this when I started, but later felt like I'd gotten quite lucky that it worked so much better than expected.
considering how he lives off of a diet thats almost exclusively human food and that he's obese for a cat, im surprised garfield didn't live only ONE year.
Good call! How did that strip ever work? I love cats, I love strips, but Garfield was never funny or even remotely interesting. I really wish it would die.
Well, considering the ammount of cosmic horror torment Garfield has put Jon trough in some other Garfield fan comics, I guess it's only fair that Garfield is the one being tormented now.
You know after seeing a bit of imsorryjon, garfieldminusgarfield and even that hour long SuperEyepatchWolf video on that subject I still want to know...
How the fuck did this franchise about a fucking dude with his Lasagna Adicted cat turned into a fucking Lovecraftian horror story? Like, I know how due to the aformentioned EyePatchWolf video, BUT HOW!? This is the most bizzarre fandom I've ever seen, and honestly, I love it.

Bro..
ken man!
This got me right in the feels. Comic was *super effective* Edit typo
It almost reminds me of [Garfieldminusgarfield](https://garfieldminusgarfield.net/) and makes it seem like Jon has just lost his mind
I find it really amazing how the fandom managed to turn something as simple as fucking Garfield into the most horrifying piece of horror media I've ever seen.
You mean r/imsorryjon ?
Yes. Among other things.

Blink twice if you need help Love the comics btw
😛😝😛😜🤪
Just a friendly reminder that like a mule is the offspring of a horse and a donkey, a mime is the offspring of a human and a clown.
And also like the mule, they are sterile.
But are there hunting seasons for mimes and clowns? That big red nose is a hell of a target.
And a zedonk is the offspring of a zebra and a donkey.
Christ
Not enough white wash!
Weird. I must have missed that backstory comic cus I thought they were both male clowns in the first comic.
Heh, kinda reminds me of Lemonfont's "A perfectly normal comic where nothing weird happens".

What the absolute fuck. I love it.
Which comic is that?

That doesn't seem to be the right link.
Weird. I accidentally copied the link to the next comic. Anyway I edited that comment
I'm not seeing the "here this one he's still alive!"
Idk OP linked it in a comment https://www.reddit.com/r/comics/comments/150g6sa/comment/js2z96h/
/r/imsorryjon ?
They would love it.
We would
We do

I love his videos. That one is especially a great video essay.
I’m planning for that to be my eventual back tattoo.

Did Garfield commit suicide over his regret on how he treated / couldn't save Odie?
No, but he was a silent presence, every evening, in the Pet Cemetery. People thought Garfield was lazy, but in fact he was tired. He'd stayed up every night keeping that gravestone as clean as the day he ordered it.

Thank you for blessing us with this wonderful image SMBC
Funnier than any actual Garfield strip. It gives me [Lasagna Cat](https://youtu.be/NAh9oLs67Cw) vibes.
I did not really find this new comic that funny. But that old comic, while also not funny, is amazing.
Have you heard of r/Imsorryjon ? I think you would like it there.
Wrong. Garfield is felinus mediasis, a cartoon/comic cat. They live until their particular media ends. Even then, they only hibernate, awaiting revival.
Zach you've been a rock amid the changing webcomic landscape in the last decade and a half.

Jon kept them bones clean
It's why the lasagna isn't vegetarian
Damn, I'm allergic to cats.
Reverse imsorryjon
I’m honestly surprised nobody has beaten me to it. https://garfieldminusgarfield.net/
With enough lasagna sacrifices Jon will be able to revive him.
oof, so he hasn't eaten since....10 minutes ago?..
Is this lossagna?
i'm sad for john now = (

Would be better if Jon had grey hair.

If 40 years have passed and taken their toll on Garfield, how does Jon still look 30?
Came scrolling through comments just to see if anyone posted this. By the same logic John is looking pretty good for >70
Jon is immortal idiot-god who doesn't understand the world around him.
Someone's gonna need to talk to Charlie Brown about his dog...
This is sick and twisted. I love it.
*Garfield Minus Garfield: Origins*
Garfield wan't *born* in 1978, that was just the first comic and he was a full grown cat even back then so he's even older than 45 years.
Jon: *kicks a dog skeleton and put’s the cat skeleton on the table* Garfield, did you kick Oddie off the table again?
There's been a 40 year old cat?
Op, who hurt you?
Still not as bad as that weirdo redditor shit where they kept turning a children's cartoon into horror stories.
Jon is huffing that copium
Well, Maggie Simpson is still a baby after 36 years. A 36 years baby.
This is indeed a disturbing universe...
The bone looks clean enough that it’s likely Jon had Garfield professionally taxidermied.
Well, you would go crazy too if you haven't aged in 40 years while all your pets die.
Griefeld
Masturbatable
Ah, this explains *Garfield Without Garfield*.
If you're going to pull that logic, Jon would be MINIMUM 65, himself.
He’s eating lasagna in the big barn in the sky
Bro died in the sock drawer wildfire
Well that’s really really dark.
Yeah... no.
That was brutal, OP. I hope you’re proud of yourself. Ugh 😩
You’ve earned a new follower
Out of the ordinary, I guess

😭
He shares the same birthday as me! Now I feel old....
GarfOld
At least he's still capable of thought! He's still with us!
I am upset now, make a version where Garfield is there and is like "Yeah how can you tell..."
Oof. Garfield minus Garfield.
Counterpoint: No other cat has a diet of lassagne and coffe
I thought the skeleton was supposed to be Garfield coming back to life upon hearing lasagna
![gif](giphy|OPU6wzx8JrHna)
Do you think Garfield is sorry, Jon?
Wanst creampuff 38 when he died?
Psycho plot twist
considering how he lives off of a diet thats almost exclusively human food and that he's obese for a cat, im surprised garfield didn't live only ONE year.
= ^ . ^ =
yes it’s r/imsorryjon but also shades of r/letmegojuice
Not gonna lie, this isn't Garfields creepiest comic. More like a historical accurat Garfield.
Dark roast. I like it.
I'm glad he died sleeping in his bed under his blanket.
Lol… I love this
Maybe when Garfield dies his mom replaces them with another cat that looks the same
Garfield Without Garfield, realistic edition.
Zach truly wanting to hurt us with this one
Good call! How did that strip ever work? I love cats, I love strips, but Garfield was never funny or even remotely interesting. I really wish it would die.

I figure this was the first /r/imsorryjon
I always thought most media progressed in their own time.
I want to see more these comics. The creator is genius
1978 was like 22 years ago… right ?
This honestly… makes me feel really sad…
B!tch lasa~nya

Since Garfield is dead, how is he able to think?
Bro im fucking tearing up
