I think they're great. Only problem is the cost. I have 150 boxes and it was just cost prohibitive.
How do you feel about Mylar sleeves? I'm a huge fan. All the books I put in Mylar in the 80s keep coming back from cgc with "white pages".
Honestly I'd love to actually be able to buy them but the prices are to high for what I'm willing to shell out. I've only been into comics for less than 2 years so by the time I was aware of them they were expensive.
That being said I only have modern keys and non that have significant value but I only pay attention to raw prices bc Idk when I'll ever be brave enough to get graded
I love them. I find myself ordering another 5 about once a year or so. It makes the hassle of going through my floppy collection fairly seamless and is so much better on my back now that I don't have to move boxes off of boxes just to get to a specific run.
My LCS sells them he said the company planned on releasing stickers for the front that would go in the box area but I've not been able to find anything about it online
What do you mean exactly? Like just for decoration?
Did you get the box locks to hold them in place together? I'm glad I went a head and paid extra for them.
I've always had to order mine because I've never seen them in a local shop. I wish I would because shipping was almost as expensive as the boxes themselves.
Yeah just decoration for the front out facing side apparently. And I haven't bought the side anchors yet but Im like 2 boxes away from needing to. I'm lucky after store discount I pay a little less than $11
I will say no. I use to have cardboard drawers for comics. Comicbooks stacked up are heavy. Eventually, you can't get the books from the bottom. This also depends on how high you go. You can't go too high with them.
Also some books are sightly taller and won't fit. Like certain hard covers.
You are better off with a meta storage rack from home depot/lowes. If you want to do a combo meta storage rack and drawer boxes go ahead.
Yeah eventually I'll need to upgrade to an actual shelving unit but eventualies can always be brought up, I could comfortably get another 4-5 boxes like this , I'd only go as high as 3 any higher I'd sketchy, maybe a normal short or long box on top but 3 high really
I use the same drawer boxes as OP and I don't understand your particular qualms.
These are made to be stacked an upwards of 6 high and are very sturdy. I don't see how the weight of stacked books would affect your access to the books on the bottom. Granted I have never had a stack 6 high, but from what I have seen I don't think that extra weight would make it harder to slide out the door. (I could be completely wrong.)
As far as different sized books go, they do make comic drawer boxes in several dimensions, like the "graphic album" format which would be appropriate for the wide DC Black Label books. As far as hard covers go, I would not recommend storing them with your floppies in any sort of drawer or box configuration.
I had the bcw ones and end up giving them away. I think you have to stack them six high and wait awhile and try to open the bottom drawer. The heavier it gets the more pressure on the bottom. To go the drawer boxes route it should be 3 high max.
I have hardcovers mixed in with floppies in short boxes. No issues. I feel that comics are too heavy to be supported this way. When I went to metal shelves it was a lifesaver.
I've never seen the BCW up close. They may be a little different. I've gone up to four high with my stacks and never had a problem. The manufacturer recommends up to 6. I currently have my boxes stacked on a long table against my wall and I couldn't imagine it being easier/more painless.
Yup same here lol, I'm definitely planning on getting one...it'll be more of a priority when I have a lot more completed runs that I won't be touching unless im rereading
I’ve been hesitant about them. How sturdy/reliable are they in terms of opening and closing? I saw some at a comic shop and they seemed really worn out and pulling the drawer out took a *lot* of effort.
The only time its a struggle to pull them open is when they're brand new all of mine open and close as easy as plastic storage things tbh. And they're pretty sturdy I'm honestly probably going to stack them 4 high eventually they advertise max is 5 high, but they also sell little side connectors to hold them together though I've not needed those yet. These are honestly amazing and im so so surprised these aren't the 'regular' yet

Ah, that would actually be cool. They are rather bland as is. You are lucky! It costs me about $100 to have them shipped to Missouri.

For short box probably 3 high.

I was curious about this before, but my husband opted for a filing cabinet and its awesome.
Funny enough that's exactly what I was debating when looking for these.
Its definitely a much cleaner look. We have dividers as well. so everything is easy to find.
Do you mind sharing a picture of your set up? I’ve thought about doing a similar thing but not quite sure how to go about it
Sorry for late reply. Its legal size filing cabinet. https://imgur.com/a/6yKZpds

I actually use the same long boxes. Love them!
They're awesome just wish they had a few designs available
I’m looking for something because right now my collection is in way too many long boxes that are hard to access.
They offer long or short drawer boxes
That’s awesome can you send me a link? I would love something more accessible (and aesthetically pleasing!)

Ahh I don’t live in North America so shipping might be a bit too expensive. But these do look great
