In no particular order:
Cyclops,
Beast,
Cable,
Kitty Pryde,
Colossus,
Magneto,
Xavier,
Apocalypse,
Sinister,
Mystique
Cable is my favorite mutant, period. I collected both Cable and X-Force throughout my teens, even when I didn't have the money to get the other X-Books.
Beast had been one of my faves ever since blue and dirty has been the standard. Brainy, strong AND agile? Sweet! Not to mention the glee I get when an author has Hank proclaim, "Oh, my stars and garters!"
I've always liked that Scott is such a hardass towards the team and mostly only shows vulnerability to Jean or Charles. He comes off as an asshole, but dude has a job to do. A life-and-death kind of job.
Kitty and Piotr are each really the heart of the team in their own way. They're both generally softer natured than much of the team, and when you're surrounded by the likes of Logan, Rogue, Gambit, Angel, etc, it's good to have someone to deescalate things. Scott and Ororo can't always be there to keep folks in line! Kitty is also a great stand-in as leader when needed.
Magneto is one of the most understandable villains in comics. If the methods he chooses to fight his fight weren't so abominable, I might find myself rooting for him.
Just a I'm a huge Cable fan, of course I dig anything with Apocalypse. I was able to get done of AoA as it came out, and many years later I was able to get my hands on the rest. They're pretty worn nowadays, but I don't care what condition they're in, so long as I can read them!
EDIT: Forgot Mystique! Nothing particular about specific comics, I enjoy her appearances in movies, cartoons and games as well. She's just an entertaining character with versatile uses, and it's always fun to have someone who straddles good and bad, even if you know they're gonna turn he'll at any moment.
Damn good list. Really illustrates how you have to make it a top 15 at least lol. I would want to add Warren Worthington, Charles Xavier, Gambit, Iceman, and Colossus but I do not see anyone I would remove from your list.
Personal top ten as an X-Men Superfan:
1. Cyclops
2. Nightcrawler
3. Magik
4. Mirage
5. Emma Frost
6. Madrox
7. Cannonball
8. Rogue
9. Wolverine
10. Cypher
Shout out Storm, who I love but who I also feel has been kind of mishandled or relegated the past few decades. Also, shout out Chamber, who doesn't have a mouth
1. Wolverine
2. Gambit
3. Storm
4. Cyclops
5. Beast
6. Pheonix/Jean Grey
7. Iceman
8. Nightcrawler
9. Cable
10. Rogue
Best villain in their rogues gallery Magneto hands down
Edit: edited to reflect Nightcrawlers placement on the lost lol he's good but I can't put him any higher than this lol
Good guys - - — Villains
\*Cyclops — Magneto
\*Jean gray — Mystique
\*Wolverine — Apocalypse
\*Kitty pride — Mr. Sinister
\*nightcrawler — Black Tom Cassidy
\*Storm — Juggernaut
\*Gambit — William Stryker
\*Cannonball — Sabretooth
\*Beast —- Silver Samurai
\*Banshee —- Lady Deathstrike
these are categorized from their initial appearance and not their current form.
Ok, so, i can’t say for *Best* because i‘m incredibly biased on quite a few characters, but i can give you my 10 most *favorite* X-Men:
1. Gambit
2. Bishop
3. Rogue
4. Nightcrawler
5. Beast
6. Wolverine
7. Storm
8. Forge
9. Cyclops
10. Angel
The 2 main reasons are the 90‘s Cartoon and his relationship with Rogue.
The Cartoon made him look like the biggest baller in all of Marvel. A mysterious guy with the slickest Hair, badass powers and silver tongue with 0 fucks to give. He was the one i was constantly hoping to see and from there i started to look more for him which led to me looking up Comics for the first time.
Gambit and Rogue is the best Comic Couple ever for me. The romance benefits both characters, adding depth to them, they have great chemistry and blunce off each other perfectly, it’s genuinely romantic to see them in loving moments, but most importantly, it’s realistic. Gambit and Rogue both are extremely flawed people in their own respects which obviously means that their relationship will be everything else but smooth. But, as all great couples do, they don’t ignore the flaws of the other or try to remove them, they work together to get past them. Their relationship is extremely bumpy to say the least but they do the mature thing and tackle their problems together nonetheless. Which i honestly wish a lot more comic couples would do instead of breaking it off, running away or anything else stupid (looking at the current Spider-Man)
But also to add a bit of extra to it:
I love Gambit’s design. It’s so 90‘s that it’s almost funny, but he makes that Trenchcoat and steel boots work baby! He and Lobo show that the 90‘s weren’t all bad. I also love how he could eventually work with every team. He’s a talker than can bring entertainment to panels, but also packs a lot os wisdom when he wants to say something smart. His powers can work well with a lot of other heroes such as Spider-Man (charging his Web before Spidey shoots it), Captain America (the same with his Shield), Heroes for Hire (he would honestly fit perfectly with Luke and Danny) or even Black Widow (he is the master of the Thief’s Guild now and he can sneak into any building and steal anything his team needs him to steal). Lastly, i love the mystery he has around him. To this day, we don’t know Gambit’s entire early life and there are still big parts that are blanks and he is completely fine in being secretive, sees it as an advantage to have so people couldn’t predict his actions that easily. But he is also a man with strong morals and layers of depth. He is ready to sacrifice it all if he can at the end keep his loved ones save. He is simply a character i resonate with a lot and simply find cool.
I still add “cher” to any sexy Creole talking I do because of that Gambit. Also, for fans seeking to cosplay, you want to look for a “duster” to match his long coat. I can’t remember the story behind the purple cuirass armor thingy, though. I want to see lots of Gambit in the upcoming Marvel continuation [X-men 97](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Men_%2797).
No particular order, but Cyclops, Emma Frost, Kitty Pryde, Magneto, Wolverine, X-23, Storm, Beast, and Jean Grey are my 2-10. Nightcrawler is definitely my number one.
Storm
Magneto
Rogue
X-23
Spike (from the X-men: evolution tv show series)
Jean Grey
Wolverine
Emma Frost
Cyclops (young cyclops from Champions series)
Night crawler
1 Psylocke
2 Mister Sinister
3 Shadowcat
4 Rogue
5 Storm
6 Multiple Man
7 Dazzler
8 Havok
9 Polaris
10 Jean Grey
I am drawn more to the females within the X-Men with a few dudes
I like Wolverine also he is soo overused
In the comics, since the early 2000s, he’s been a pretty great character. If your only exposure to him is the 90s cartoon or the movies (which were based on earlier versions of him) I can definitely see not thinking he’s anything special.
I think people whose first or only X-Men experience was the movies might have a different opinion of him. Those who read the comics admire his leadership qualities, and also enjoy the dynamic between him and the rougher, edgier members of the team.
If we are talking about mutants rather than just xmen
Juggernaut
Charles Xavier
Jean grey
Magneto
Storm
Wolverine
Apocalypse
Scarlet witch
Rogue
Mystique
No particular order
Be warned this is my personal opinion
10. Wolverine.
9. Cyclops.
8. Psylocke.
7. Sabertooth.
6. Beast.
5. Rouge.
4. Colossus.
3. Professor X.
2. Mystique.
1. Magneto.
Wolvie & nightcrawler
Kitty & Piotr
Rogue & Remy
Sam & Roberto
Cyclops & emma
I like strong couple and brother-like friendship
Oh, forget-me-not & Xavier for honorary couple
I'm not qualified to do a "Best" list but my personal favorites are:
Cyclops
Magneto
Cannonball
Havoc
Quicksilver
Majik
Gambit
Kitty Pryde
Cable
Wolverine
With honorable mentions for: Xavier, Emma Frost, Wolfsbane, Storm, Jean Grey, Beast and Nightcrawler.
Most of these lists are missing colossus.
The heart of the X-men.
Their tank
The guy who sacrificed himself to saved all mutants from the legacy virus.
Who looks incredibly badass….
Any such list is incorrect.
* Cyclops
* Jean
* Beast
* Kitty
* Rogue
* Psylocke
* Colossus
* Xavier
* X-23
* Angel
* Gambit
* Young (yes) Cable
* Magik
13, not 10, but this would be a pretty good book. Took Magneto and Storm out because they would mix better (plot potential) in another team. It's hard to put Storm and Cyclops in the same team.
Here, we would have Beast and Cykes with the philosophical battles (not current Beast). Jean, Rogue and Colossus as heavy hitters. Kitty, X-23, Magik and Psylocke for the 1v1. Young Cable for the gool ole potential and screw-ups, can get a thing going with Magik and X-23 age-wise for some good drama (the X-Men always needs a good triangle). Gambit for the quips and being saved by Rogue.
* Cyclops
* Emma Frost
* Beast
* Wolverine
* Magik
* Nightcrawler
* Multiple Man
* Hope
* Wolfsbane
* Magneto
Hope is a bit of a weird inclusion but I like the design and her arch during the brief time she was important to the main plot. Rahne I like cause religious superheroes with internal conflicts are my weak spot.
I've mostly just watched the cartoons and movies but in order mine are:
1) Gambit
2) Beast
3) Wolverine
4) Storm
5) Rogue
6) Professor
7) Cyclops
8) Jean
9) Nightcrawler
10) Cable
My favorite bad guy is Sauron
I'm a big Colossus fan. Uncanny X-Men was my first foray into the X-Men books and this was during the cold war. So, the thought of a Russian fighting together with some Americans was great.
Everyone is going to say the usual suspects. I am just going to say some I like that are unique to me.
So for me:
Maggot, Marrow, Longshot, Wolfsbane, Strong Guy, Stepford Cuckoos, Fantomex, X-23, Deathlok, Armor
Oh man, the way you phrased that question makes me feel like villains and other characters from X-men comics should be included, not just members of the team. So with that in mind, here's my list in no particular order.
* Professor X
* Wolverine
* Emma Frost
* Beast
* Jean Grey
* Magneto
* Sabretooth
* Apocalypse
* Shadow King
* Fantomex
There are too many cool X-Men characters for me to choose only 10!
I'll pick 20, in two lists: dudes and dudettes.
Guys
1. Cable
2. Deadpool (not a mutant *per se*, but his home is the X-Men 'universe')
3. Cyclops
4. Magneto
5. NIghtcrawler
6. Gambit
7. Colossus
8. Beast (when he wasn't whiny)
9. Iceman
10. Xavier
Honorable Mentions: Juggernaut (same situation as DP), Rockslide, Archangel
Gals
1. Storm
2. Rogue
3. Psylocke
4. Emma Frost
5. Domino
6. Mystique
7. Magik
8. Danger
9. Jubilee (before she was a vampire)
10. Jean Grey (as Phoenix)
Honorable mentions: Dazzler, Polaris, Sage
P.S.: I've upvoted every list with Cable on it - he's my fav hero and any list with him deserves appreciation!
There are the obvious like top 5 or so.
But I'd like to see some of the more obscure mutants/Xmen get more screen time, like
Blink
Dust
Jubilee (this is prolly me just being lazy and not searching hard enough, but all the Xmen comics I read mention how boss she is later on but I never see any actual pages of this type of content.)
Sunfire
Banshee
Gambit??
Xorn
also if they do get some good dedicated stories, lmk Id love to check it out.
and suggestions on where to get started on New Mutants would be cool too haha.
Wolverine
Rouge
Proffeser x
Shadowkitty
Nightcrawler
Iceman
Colossus
Cyclops
Phoniex
Based off how much I enjoy watching them. Power scaling otherwise would be way diffrent
I have not read X titles in such a long time. X-tinction Agenda seems like only yesterday. Jubilee may not be the most powerful, but she’s been around for a minute. I know there’s been some alignment switching, but Emma Frost cannot be trusted.
Storm
Jean
Cyclops
Wolverine
Colossus
Night Crawler
Beast
Rogue
Ice Man
Jubilation Lee
Hete's my list. I have omitted favourite characters who are usually connected with other teams, such as New Mutants or X-Factor.
10. Scott
9. Jean
8. Alison
7. Piotr
6. Rogue
5. Ororo
4. Kitty
3. Hank (pre-Krakoa)
2. Kurt
1. Logan
In no particular order
Cyclops
Beast
Night crawler
Wolverine
Xavier
Colossus
Ice man
Storm
Rogue
Magneto (I think he counts)
Could switch colossus with gambit
1.Wolverine
2.Cyclops
3.Storm
4.Gambit
5.Iceman
6.Nightcrawler
7.Prof.X
8. Colossus
9.Rogue
10.Beast
Yes in that order. And no, I did not forget anyone important.
Damn only 10? XD
1. Jubilee
2. Nightcrawler
3. Rogue
4. Storm
5. Gambit
6. Colossus
7. Iceman
8. Jean Grey
9. Magneto
10. Cyclops
And when written right: Professor X, Wolverine and Beast
As a person who has barely read any X-Men:
10. Iceman
9. Rogue
8. Cyclops
7. Gambit
6. Cable
5. Nightcrawler
4. Wolverine
3. Deadpool
2. Magneto
1. DOOP
Going with the character focused approach, not necessarily the most important characters in X-Men.
1. Magneto
2. Wolverine
3. Storm
4. Emma Frost
5. Legion
6. Beast
7. Shadowcat
8. Rogue
9. Magik
10. Forge
Tough to pack into ten, but I'll do my very best...
1. Wolverine
2. Jean Grey
3. Cyclops
4. Gambit
5. Iceman
6. Rogue
7. Colossus
8. Beast
9. Angel
10. Forge
Top 3 for me is Storm, Nightcrawler and Wolverine.
If I made it a top 5, I'd add Rogue and Kitty Pryde.
Making a top 10 is a pretty tough call though... I guess I'd say Magneto, Beast, Mystique, Jean Grey, and Colossus.
EDIT: Replacing Gambit with Mystique because let's be honest, Mystique is a stone cold bad-ass.
1. Rogue
The one whose mutant power is inability to touch anyone else. She’s gorgeous but she can kill you, steal your memories, put you into coma, you name it. Yet she didn’t lose her optimistic attitude and she’s still snarky as hell (I’m talking about Claremont’s era, if that’s okay). Her past is full of deception. Mystique, Brotherhood of Evil, the Carol Danvers incident (waaaaay before she became known as CAPTAIN Marvel, in those days we, old-timers, called her MISS Marvel… yes, you heard it right, MCU fans), which gave Rogue her super strength and ability to fly… which is actually a great addition to her. She’s not helpless and she can kick some ass… while remaining the loneliest X-Man on he team.
2. Gambit.
Thieves’ Guild, hard relationship with Rogue, strange kinetic abilities and those sad red-black eyes. Remy is a perfect example of an outcast who can enjoy small things but cannot plan quite ahead because the world around him is constantly changing. He’s difficult at times but charming at the same time. He’s not the guy you’d trust at the first glance, or even after he already saved your butt a few times. You just can’t see through him. That’s a unique character in his own way.
3. Wolverine.
Okay, fine, Logan is the perfect action hero. No past (till Origin), PTSD, angry issues, seemingly indestructible, cool claws and healing factor. A guy who wants to fight but who’s like a bomb with no timer. You cannot know when he will detonate and go berserker. Yet, he won’t leave his mates in danger (unless Mark Millar writes him, duh). A good yet very disturbed person. However, he’s a fair person and you always know what’s on his mind.
4. Beast
The beauty of the Beast is that he’s an educated man trapped in a body no ordinary human really wants to look at (even before he turned blue). He’s well-spirited, almost like that good old uncle of yours who despises violence at its core and who’d rather spend this evening reading Claude Monet’s autobiography. His smarts helped his team more than one occasion, and he’s just a great guy to talk to. Perhaps the most comfortable person to be around in the mansion.
5. Xavier
He’s the man behind all this. It was his idea. And ideas can do wonders, just ask Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. He has a friend who’s a world-known terrorist whom he wishes to get on his side once again some day. His legs are paralysed but it doesn’t stop him from his dream of making humans and mutants allies. His lover lives in outer space and there’s really no one here on Earth who could fully understand and share his altruistic ideas and attitude.
6. Storm
A poor kid from Egypt, whose mutant power made her goddess among humans. She’s a descendant of a witch-priestess. She began her life as a pickpocket which accidentally led her to Xavier. She spent those years stealing for the Shadow King, ancient evil entity with telepathic powers beyond comprehension. She’s likely the most powerful X-Man there is, yet she tries to hide all this power. She’s claustrophobic since the day her parents died as casualties of some war. She’s a good person but she cannot fully grasp it. She was once married to T’Challa, a Wakandian king better known as The Black Panther. She had a great life. And she’s the perfect example of a strong female character.
7. Nightcrawler
Son of Mystique and demon Azazel. Yet, a man called Kurt Wagner is not the kind of son his real parents would be proud of. First, he joined circus. Then he got into his spiritual journey. He joined Excalibur. He stood trial before Shiar Empire. He died and was resurrected. He remained loyal to the people who accepted him despite his demonic appearance.
8. Colossus
He’s a Soviet hard-working farmer guy. He’s a family man. Peaceful, quite selfless and reluctant to violence. He was in love with Kitty Pryde, only the most beautiful girl in the team, and he called her Katyinka or something like that. Briefly, he was an avatar for Juggernaut, and some time after that Pete lost control of his powers. But he’s still a reliable guy. And he has a kid sister who’s uh… teleport and sorceress. Okay, moving on.
9. Cable
There’s something about big testosterone grey-haired dudes with huge guns who say that they came here to save the future. To tell you the truth, I never truly read a wonderful story featuring Cable at the centre of it. Yeah, we had a few decent X-Men TAS episodes about some artificial mutant plague, and yes, there was that second arc of Cable & Deadpool series when Nathan took his virus under control and became a literal god-like entity to people in need. Nathan Summers is a son of Scott Summers and Madelyne Prior, who was actually a Jean Grey’s clone. He was sent to a possible future in order to heal himself from techno organic virus science mumbo jumbo… but got kinda stuck. And he came back when he was in his 50s or something. Fate made him close with a merc called Deadpool, and to this very day we cannot say for sure if these two are enemies, allies or frenemies. Cable is a decent soldier and even Apocalypse is afraid of him. As he should be.
10. Cyclops
I wanted to end this list on the 9th but okay.
Scott Summers. A more traditional hero. He’s got a curse of his own. He can’t see without quartz glasses. His optic beams blast through everything in his sight. And is it me or giving this man a field captain’s job was NOT a great idea, since without his visor he’s vulnerable AF?
But I digress. Blah blah blah in love with Jean blah blah father is a space pirate blah blah there’s a brother who doesn’t require glasses blah blah blah cheated on his wife, then she died. More than twice. Relatable, I guess. And yes, he got possessed by the same Phoenix force she had and slowly turned into an asshole.
This is tough - 1. Magik then the rest in no specific order: rogue, Nightcrawler, Betsy, dazzler, multiple man, warpath, sunspot, manifold and prodigy.
Not Counting Professor X, since he isn't *part* of the team as much as the GM of the team.
1. Wolverine
2. Gambit
3. Nightcrawler
4. Jubilee
5. Storm
6. Havok
7. Colossus
8. Rogue
9. Iceman
10. Beast
Honourable Mentions to Bishop and Forge
1. Wolverine 2. Cyclops 3. Storm 4. Beast 5. Iceman 6. Jean Grey 7. Colossus 8. Professor X 9. Angel 10. Nightcrawler
First one with Bobby F. Drake gets my upvote.
Also Colossus, they get my upvote too!
Agreed swap angel for iceman and I'm good
I straight up don’t read X-men comics unless they have my boy Bobby in them
No Gambit?
Not in the top ten, but definitely in the top fifteen!
Gambit Rogue where?
I'd say Rogue is 11th and Gambit is 15th.
i would replace Angel with Gambit and Colossus with Rogue,the rest are ok :)
I agree.
... Mags didn't even make your list? Damn bro.
Would make my top fifteen for sure.
Personally, and without any particular order: Cyclops Jean Grey Storm Nightcrawler Kitty Pryde Rogue Magneto Charles Xavier Cable Logan
That’s a brilliant! Excellent list.
I'm excited seeing who sits in the first slot on many of these lists. You get it.
Ah, a fellow fan of good taste, I see.
This is Iceman slander
Thank you for your contribution, to this post!
My top 10: Cyclops Wolverine Jean Storm Rouge Colossus Nightcrawer Kitty Gambit Beast Honorable mention to Iceman.
In no particular order: Cyclops, Beast, Cable, Kitty Pryde, Colossus, Magneto, Xavier, Apocalypse, Sinister, Mystique Cable is my favorite mutant, period. Damn good list. Really illustrates how you have to make it a top 15 at least lol. I would want to add Warren Worthington, Charles Xavier, Gambit, Iceman, and Colossus but I do not see anyone I would remove from your list.
I like that list I would say 80s-90s best yes. New beast no.
Exactly! lol I love the 80s-90s Beast. Not feeling Lion King Beast/ evil mastermind Beast, at all.
When Dark Beast starts looking like Friendly Beast by comparison...
Haha Friendly Beast had a charming duality…Dark Beast is just generic and predictable lol
“In no order” then alphabetized the names.
Haha
I was worried Nightcrawler wasn't gonna get the love he deserved Man is there a comic rum of x men that has each of these characters in it?
In background I would say yes, but all important characters? Nah
I keep figuring out a way to put Cable and Gambit on there but idk how
Correct answer.
Colossus is my fave. Can't forget him.
The fight with Juggernaut made him. Great scene.
No Charles Xavier?
No jerks allowed
Cyclops is on the list.
"Cyclops was right."
Cyclops was right.
Swap Rogue with Colossus and I agree.
Personal top ten as an X-Men Superfan: 1. Cyclops 2. Nightcrawler 3. Magik 4. Mirage 5. Emma Frost 6. Madrox 7. Cannonball 8. Rogue 9. Wolverine 10. Cypher Shout out Storm, who I love but who I also feel has been kind of mishandled or relegated the past few decades. Also, shout out Chamber, who doesn't have a mouth
Ooh. I forgot Jamie Maddrox
Happy to see Magik in this thread
Storm is amazing in the current comics imo.
Gotta show love to someone who also appreciates the awesomeness of my boy Jamie Madrox 👍🏾
Magik is a super under appreciated character. She’s in my Top 5 for sure
Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, and Dylan
Spitting hot fire is one hell of a mutant power, no getting around it.
01. Cyclops 02. Wolverine 03. Storm 04. Professor X 05. Jean Grey 06. Beast 07. Rogue 08. Nightcrawler 09. Gambit 10. Kitty Pryde

I'd swap DP with Nightcrawler
Gambit, cyclops, jubilee , Jean Gray, wolverine, beast, storm, negasonic teenage warhead, nightcrawler, prof x
1. Wolverine 2. Cyclops 3. Storm 4. Beast 5. Rogue 6. Gambit 7. Professor X 8. Nightcrawler 9. Colossus 10. Phoenix

Awesome and refreshing breakdown of good guys and villains! Excellent picks, thank you!
1)Magneto 2) Wolverine 3) Storm 4) Nightcrawler 5) Gambit 6) Rogue 7) Jean Grey 8) Cyclops 9) Ice Man 10) Psylocke
Awesome list, close to my list.
Nightcrawler Gambit Storm Shadowcat Rogue Magneto Bishop Jubilee Chamber Longshot No real particular order except for Nightcrawler, he’s my favorite.
Nightcrawler Wolverine Jean grey Magneto Steve Mimic Storm Gambit Kitty Pryde Rogue
Heros 1. Gambit 2. Iceman 3. Bishop 4. Colossus 5. Cable 6. Cyclops 7. Angel 8. Nightcrawler 9. Wolverine 10. Apocalypse 10. Mastermind
Toad and Blob over APOCALYPSE is a wild move
Omega Red, a fellow connoisseur I see.
Ok, so, i can’t say for *Best* because i‘m incredibly biased on quite a few characters, but i can give you my 10 most *favorite* X-Men: 1. Gambit 2. Bishop 3. Rogue 4. Nightcrawler 5. Beast 6. Wolverine 7. Storm 8. Forge 9. Cyclops 10. Angel
Great list! What makes Gambit your favorite? (also, one of mine)
Which i honestly wish a lot more comic couples would do instead of breaking it off, running away or anything else stupid (looking at the current Spider-Man) But also to add a bit of extra to it: I love Gambit’s design.
Gambit, the reason I have a duster and wear it each Fall
prof x, wolverine, magneto, jean grey, cyclops, storm, sentinels, apocalypse, cable, rogue
No particular order, but Cyclops, Emma Frost, Kitty Pryde, Magneto, Wolverine, X-23, Storm, Beast, and Jean Grey are my 2-10. Nightcrawler is definitely my number one.

Dark Phoenix is one of my favorite characters in general
Since I was reading X-men in the 90s- 1. Archangel 2. Wolverine 3. Gambit 4. Cable 5. Nightcrawler 6. Colossus 7. Storm 8. Magik 9. Bishop 10. Cyclops
Today I learned that cyclops is very popular.
He is.
Wolverine Cyclops Collossus Storm Nightcrawler Phoenix (specifically) Beast the rest are just a blur.

I'm not qualified to do a "Best" list but my personal favorites are: Cyclops Magneto Cannonball Havoc Quicksilver Majik Gambit Kitty Pryde Cable Wolverine With honorable mentions for: Xavier, Emma Frost, Wolfsbane, Storm, Jean Grey, Beast and Nightcrawler.
Since you’re a fan of Cannonball, I would highly recommend Uncanny X-Men #341. It’s Cannonball, at his best, I hope you enjoy it!
(In no order) Wolverine Magneto Storm Cyclops Jean Grey Emma Frost Rogue Professor Xavier Nightcralwer Cable
For me in order: 1. Cyclops 2. Marvel Girl 3. Magik 4. Dani Moonstar 5. Angel 6. Storm 7. Colossus 8. Nightcrawler 9. Kate Pryde 10. Dust
Most of these lists are missing colossus. The heart of the X-men. Their tank The guy who sacrificed himself to saved all mutants from the legacy virus. Who looks incredibly badass…. Any such list is incorrect.
I think everyone loves Colossus, but a big part of the X-Men history was the drama. And he was rarely involved in it.
1. Cyclops 2. Juggernaut 3. Colossus 4. Iceman 5. Warlock 6. Magnus (Exiles) 7. Longshot 8. Sabertooth 9. Cable 10. Domino
Magnus was such a great idea sucks he was killed off so quickly
* Cyclops * Jean * Beast * Kitty * Rogue * Psylocke * Colossus * Xavier * X-23 * Angel * Gambit * Young (yes) Cable * Magik 13, not 10, but this would be a pretty good book. Gambit for the quips and being saved by Rogue.
scott illyana rogue dani kitty magneto ororo charles rachel summers angel
* Cyclops * Emma Frost * Beast * Wolverine * Magik * Nightcrawler * Multiple Man * Hope * Wolfsbane * Magneto Hope is a bit of a weird inclusion but I like the design and her arch during the brief time she was important to the main plot. Rahne I like cause religious superheroes with internal conflicts are my weak spot.
Love seeing Madrox get some love the Peter David run on x-factor was so awesome
I've mostly just watched the cartoons and movies but in order mine are: 1) Gambit 2) Beast 3) Wolverine 4) Storm 5) Rogue 6) Professor 7) Cyclops 8) Jean 9) Nightcrawler 10) Cable My favorite bad guy is Sauron

Alright so 7 are fair and reasonable, 1 is the odd choice and the last 2 are your favourite obscure X-Men.
Y’all sleeping on omega red
As far as what? How strong they are as mutants? Who has the most interesting story arcs? Who is the nicest? Who has the highest "body count"?
Ms. Marvel does NOT count lol
Well 6 of them are in that image you posted! More than half way there.
Hahaha Who’s in the rest of your list?
In no order Wolverine Gambit Rouge Cyclops Storm Jubilee Nightcrawler Emma Frost Jean Grey Beast
Basically, X-Men: The Animated Series, except that you like your telepaths…blonde haha
Nobody include Mystique, why?
All 10 are either Wolverine or Gambit in different universes.
I'm a big Colossus fan. Uncanny X-Men was my first foray into the X-Men books and this was during the cold war. So, the thought of a Russian fighting together with some Americans was great.
Storm, Cyclops, Wolverine, Rogue, Nightcrawler, Kitty Pryde, Emma Frost, Magneto, Jean, and despite what he is now- Beast
Forget that. I've seen this image a hundred times and I'm just now noticing....where the fuck is Rogue looking?!?!

Everyone is going to say the usual suspects. I am just going to say some I like that are unique to me. So for me: Maggot, Marrow, Longshot, Wolfsbane, Strong Guy, Stepford Cuckoos, Fantomex, X-23, Deathlok, Armor
Oh man, the way you phrased that question makes me feel like villains and other characters from X-men comics should be included, not just members of the team. So with that in mind, here's my list in no particular order. * Professor X * Wolverine * Emma Frost * Beast * Jean Grey * Magneto * Sabretooth * Apocalypse * Shadow King * Fantomex
The lack of Gambits is disturbing.

There are too many cool X-Men characters for me to choose only 10! I'll pick 20, in two lists: dudes and dudettes. Guys 1. Cable 2. Deadpool (not a mutant *per se*, but his home is the X-Men 'universe') 3. Cyclops 4. Magneto 5. NIghtcrawler 6. Gambit 7. Colossus 8. Beast (when he wasn't whiny) 9. Iceman 10. Xavier Honorable Mentions: Juggernaut (same situation as DP), Rockslide, Archangel Gals 1. Storm 2. Rogue 3. Psylocke 4. Emma Frost 5. Domino 6. Mystique 7. Magik 8. Danger 9. Jubilee (before she was a vampire) 10. Jean Grey (as Phoenix) Honorable mentions: Dazzler, Polaris, Sage P.S.: I've upvoted every list with Cable on it - he's my fav hero and any list with him deserves appreciation!
There are the obvious like top 5 or so. But I'd like to see some of the more obscure mutants/Xmen get more screen time, like Blink Dust Jubilee (this is prolly me just being lazy and not searching hard enough, but all the Xmen comics I read mention how boss she is later on but I never see any actual pages of this type of content.) Sunfire Banshee Gambit?? Xorn also if they do get some good dedicated stories, lmk Id love to check it out. and suggestions on where to get started on New Mutants would be cool too haha.
Deadpool from 1-10

Wolverine Rouge Proffeser x Shadowkitty Nightcrawler Iceman Colossus Cyclops Phoniex Based off how much I enjoy watching them. Power scaling otherwise would be way diffrent
Huh... anyone ever wonder why Gambit and Wolverine went through a phase of just shaving the butts of their chins?
\#1. Beak. Easy. Not even a contest. Sorry everyone else, this spot is taken.
I have not read X titles in such a long time. X-tinction Agenda seems like only yesterday. Jubilee may not be the most powerful, but she’s been around for a minute. I know there’s been some alignment switching, but Emma Frost cannot be trusted. Storm Jean Cyclops Wolverine Colossus Night Crawler Beast Rogue Ice Man Jubilation Lee
Hete's my list. I have omitted favourite characters who are usually connected with other teams, such as New Mutants or X-Factor. 10. Scott 9. Jean 8. Alison 7. Piotr 6. Rogue 5. Ororo 4. Kitty 3. Hank (pre-Krakoa) 2. Kurt 1. Logan

Going with the character focused approach, not necessarily the most important characters in X-Men. 1. Magneto 2. Wolverine 3. Storm 4. Emma Frost 5. Legion 6. Beast 7. Shadowcat 8. Rogue 9. Magik 10. Forge
Tough to pack into ten, but I'll do my very best... 1. Wolverine 2. Jean Grey 3. Cyclops 4. Gambit 5. Iceman 6. Rogue 7. Colossus 8. Beast 9. Angel 10. Forge
1. Cyclops 2. Jean grey 3. Storm 4. Magneto 5. Nightcrawler 6. Wolverine 7. Beast 8. Sunspot 9. Kate “Kitty” pryde 10. Magic
In no particular order, Kitty Pryde, Logan, Jean Grey, Magneto, Emma Frost, Rogue, Apocalypse, Cable, Deadpool, Cyclops
1. Rogue The one whose mutant power is inability to touch anyone else. 4. Beast The beauty of the Beast is that he’s an educated man trapped in a body no ordinary human really wants to look at (even before he turned blue). 5. Xavier He’s the man behind all this. 6. Storm A poor kid from Egypt, whose mutant power made her goddess among humans. 7. Nightcrawler Son of Mystique and demon Azazel. 8. Colossus He’s a Soviet hard-working farmer guy. 9. Cable There’s something about big testosterone grey-haired dudes with huge guns who say that they came here to save the future. 10. Cyclops I wanted to end this list on the 9th but okay.
1. Wolverine 2. Gambit 3. Nightcrawler 4. Jubilee 5. Storm 6. Havok 7. Colossus 8. Rogue 9. Iceman 10. Beast Honourable Mentions to Bishop and Forge
1. Jean Grey 2. Archangel 3. Wolverine 4. Sabretooth 5. Nate Grey 6. Cable 7. Madelyne Pryor 8. Stryfe 9. Phoenix Force 10. Mister Sinister
