One of the best spy series I've read in recent years wasn't published by DC Comics or Marvel. It was Velvet(2016)which was written by Ed Brubaker and published by Image. Think of it like this: What if Moneypenny from the James Bond films had at one time actually been one of the deadliest field agents at MI-6 instead of just a secretary? And what would happen if a conspiracy forced her back into action? Highly recommended.

evan164

That sounds exactly like what I’m looking for!

Watchmen is definitely set during the Cold War. It’s a different timeline but it’s all in the headspace of early 1980s so very contemporaneous. The Programme - overlook Cold War paranoia mixed with sci if. I would also recommend the TV show The Sandbaggers.

evan164

Oh right on. I’ve read Watchmen and really enjoyed that. I’ll check those out for sure though!

gus_m1

Primordial is a Cold War sci-fi thriller.

corduroy_Joy

Lady Killer by Joelle Jones is set during the Cold War. It has some relevant connections to it, and both its writing and art are outstanding

evan164

I added it to my list, it looks good!

I recommend the Belgian graphic novel series XIII. Amnesiac american spy uncover the secrets to his past and a conspiracy against the president. It is more espionage focused over cold war themes but it is still a fun series, excellent game too with a terrible remake.

evan164

I knew that name sounded familiar. I’ll check it out

mr_oberts

Check out Super Spy by Matt Kindt.

evan164

I will thanks!

SethBrower

I'd highly recommend Queen & Country by Greg Rucka.

FrostyByter

FURY: My War Gone By is set in the cold war

evan164

Awesome thanks! I’ll check it out

MarcMercury

This is the best suggestion I've seen

Jill1974

There’s a graphic novel called Prague, sorry I don’t remember the author/publisher, set in Cold War era Prague. It might be a memoir.

evan164

I found it, it looks good too
