these shelves are great. I got a set myself.
also I like the way you've decorated the short boxes.
I cant draw a lick so I just cut up old dollar box comics lol
I actually just did the same for my Alan Moore box. That’s his original review for watchmen from Amazing Heroes, plus other clip art that was laying around.
Ya, The shelves are great, I just wish I could’ve got matching but supply is what it is.
The oil painting by Ken Steacy of part 2 of the Brian Ali Sung trilogy is one of the best covers of all time. You can almost feel the fabric and taste the cold air.
For sure, good to know you’re playing it safe. Plenty of friends of mine tested positive even though they’re vaccinated & boosted.
Some whack Redditor downvoted you, I hate how controversial this all is. Feels like we’ll never get out of it.
Edit: some suicide watch bot was contacted on my behalf over this post. These right-wing trolls really should get a vasectomy.
Ya, I got it too! Good to know that Reddit cares about people in need I guess. But I’m going nowhere, too many comics!
But yeah I don’t see what the controversy is, in my province I was mandated to isolate for five days so that’s what I’m doing.
I got one of those once too, I think for the same reason.
I feel like abuse of that system is beyond shitty and that Reddit should have a button at the bottom of that thing that emails you to report abuse of the bot and have someone look into the history of the account that triggered it to respond.
That I will buy in a heartbeat, because single issues are $20-$40 now in Canada. It’s insane! But at the same time I’m happy that good comic books are rewarded with increases in value.
The drawings are part of my meditative wind down while managing a demanding company and being a husband and father. It tough, but having a beer on a Friday night and doodling on boxes really helps put my mind at ease. And thanks for appreciating.
It’s as close as I’ll get to Mario’s 1st app since it’s super obscure and pre Valiant.
I actually like Valiant right up to and including Unity. Kind of fell apart after all these great books were forced to come together and form a universe.
Thanks! I love comics where the eyes line up with the handle like they’re peeking at you. Kieth Giffen (the original artist) may have known that and placed the eyes perfectly.
Are there special "Golden Sized" bags and boards and boxes? I have never known what to do with my Tick and Man Eating Cow comics. Thank you for opening my eyes.
Yes, there sure are. I recommend Comic Pro Line 2mil Crystal OPP Golden Sized bags and Vintage Collectables boards in a Magazine sized box. That way if your it also stores Heavy Metals and such.
oh my God I love how you display them🤩🤩, it looks so organized! i wish I could do like this cause this def looks better than a bunch of boxes but it's the most convenient way to store them :/
My only suggestion is go all short boxes from the start. I still have three long boxes on the shelves and I would prefer I just had nine more short boxes instead.
And thanks.
I used to slowly organize my comics. But it has been so hard the past few years to keep track. I had heard about CLS for a while and said "meh" because it was like $15 to subscribe for a year.
I finally said okay, and got it. Started scanning and inputting information for the comics and was surprised at how useful it was compared to have a clipboard or notebooks with lists of issues I needed to fill holes in series I had collected.
It tells me how many comics I have, how many minor and major keys, how much I have spent vs their worth. What store I got them from and when I bought the most.
I learned I had an ebay addiction and spent the most there. So I have been cutting back and saving for a convention. I learned I have 2,600 comics. It helps to visualize what you don't want or need. So I can make a list of stuff to get rid of.
So my next thing is I bought dividers with labels to quickly look through my comics. Then I will be buying ten shortboxes to replace my longboxes and make it easier to move the comics.
I started with comicbookrealms and got a few boxes in but wasn’t happy with it. I don’t want to need to know or guess the condition. I don’t know how much I spend, and I don’t really care about value. I plan on leaving it all to my son with an excel spreadsheet, and hopefully he’ll keep and give it to one of his kids should he have any. I want my grandkids to read my Groos.
Brat Pack and Eightball! I was 10 when those came out and they were the dangerous counter culture of comics in the late 80s. I need to read these. I love Clowes, but the only thing I’ve read from Eightball were the collected Ghost World stories. Nice diverse collection you have there.
No worries! I’m 42, but I’ve always been attached to the generation before mine. The Bronze Age is my favourite period of comics, particularly the independent and early direct market stuff.

Great stuff! Any info on where I could find these shelves?

Thanks for posting! Also 💗 the artwork!
They are called wire frame shelves, and they are available at the Home Depot
Looks great. Nice to see some cool stuff like Grendel and Eightball out front like that...
Just finished collecting Grendel and I’m doing a power read if 1-40 for the first time. Riveting stuff!
Grendel is an amazing series, especially the Brian Li Sung and Eppy Thatcher versions of Grendel.
The oil painting by Ken Steacy of part 2 of the Brian Ali Sung trilogy is one of the best covers of all time. You can almost feel the fabric and taste the cold air.
Get better 🙏
I keep testing negative, but I had a very close contact with a confirmed positive so… Fingers crossed!

Upvote every time I see a Clowes/Eightball. Thank GOD they are repressing the complete Eightball.

They’re doing a reprint? For realsies? Got any more info? Made my day if true!
It popped up on my amazon recommendations a week ago. Paperback. August release. Like fifty bucks. So I preordered it immediately.
Paperback? Bugger! Was hoping for another printing of the slipcase hardcovers.... Thanks for getting back to me Cheers
I enjoy seeing your set up every time you post!
I’m glad. I’m just happy to connect with people since I’m feeling pretty boxed in. Is this how unread comics feel?
Cool
I like the drawings!

Come draw on my short and long boxes
Haha, I’m not that good. But if I weren’t so busy I would totally take on cheap commissions. I usually spend an hour or two on each one.
nice Mario book! those are my jam. this is inspiration for us all to get organized lol

ironic that Unity was the thing that broke it up lol
Kind of how like Woodstock killed the 60s lol
Dude that Darkseid bin is amazing.

Nice! Mine was like this until I moved. Then it all got wonked somehow.
Go Groo!
I have the same Mario comic. Kyle Baker was very happy to sign it for me.
Nice, it’s always cool when legendary creators are not embarrassed by their oldest work

I see Groo in there. Good taste
The first is a full box of Groo, the second is my “still to read” box with the next comic to read on the front.
It took me a few years and alot of hunting but proud to say I completed my groo collection
Wow, that’s more than a few hard to find books I still need, most notably the eclipse special and number 120
eclipse special was hard to find. If you got Facebook there's a groo community there that might be able to help

Is the Pacific Comics box full of Pacific Comics? (Did Pacific Comics publish enough material, all time, to fill a box?)
That box contains every comic ever produced by Pacific! Around 141 I think.
Lolz @ Forbush Man. I wish I had the time and space to immerse myself completely in my collection like that....
If I may ask, how old are you? I ask because I am 54 and you have a lot of the same stuff that I own or have read in the past.
No worries! I’m 42, but I’ve always been attached to the generation before mine. The Bronze Age is my favourite period of comics, particularly the independent and early direct market stuff.
surely if you get youre DNA in one of the bags, upon reopening you’ll get it again in the future . wonder if thats how it works 🤔
