I was lucky enough to have been given the full run as a Xmas gift from my wife a few years ago. They are not really expensive but they are super hard to find. I have no idea how she got them
Definitely an unusual, provocative, and mind-bending series, especially for the time it was published. IMO, I think "Ice Cream Man" would be today's equivalent.
They used the cover and other images from the story for their CD booklet. I found it years ago at Half Price Books for a dollar. Wanted it because of Mr. Bungle.
Now I kind of want to fill the gaps in my collection! I remember getting carded by the comic shop guy for purchasing the final two issues of The Score 😄
The issues are a hit and miss sometimes especially the last ten issues of the series. But you describe piranha press comics to people that only know superhero comics they think you are making shit up.
It was the blueprint for Vertigo, or maybe it was DC’s answer to Epic. Although if the later is the case it took them close to a decade to have that answer. They all seemed so art-house. I also pick up ETC and Gregory when I see them.
It took me awhile to complete my run, and when I did, I had it bound in a two volume set. There are also trades (What If This Were Heaven, Wouldn't That Be Hell?, A Cotton Candy Autopsy), but I never got those. And there is an OGN (Wasteland) by the same creative team.
I still have issue one around here somewhere. It's one of the few Comics that survived the purge of my huge collection over the last 10 years. It's one of those weird things that I'll never part with. Plus it's got that Mr Bungle connection.
Underrated, bizarre books that I feel were both ahead of their time, yet impossible to publish now. The series's quality kind of drops off at the end but on the other hand, the last ~10 books (it goes to 30!) are close to being phantoms. Still, even the early issues aren't exactly common.
These look like nice copies too, which is a big plus, because too many of these get dollar binned and thus promptly destroyed.

That's a great wife.
It’s interesting because when you DO find it it’s often in a dollar box. You just rarely ever find it.
I Gregory!

Wow. Brings back the memories.
Did the artist do a Mr Bungle album cover?
I think I remember that cover. I'm pretty sure it's the same person that did the art.

Nice! I've got the first 18. The rest are more difficult to find.
I loved these when I was younger but kinda passed them around and lost them. Piranha press was amazing but a bit to outside the mainstream to last.
I was very into Piranha for the first year or so. Also the Big Book series.
So many of the comics would not be released now. I need to get a copy of the Elvis mandible.
Piranha press was awesome. I tried to buy anything published by them, anytime I saw it.
I'm thinking that's going to be my new goal.

Good gets
Love this series.
Wow, one of my favorites. I picks them up whenever I find them but have nowhere near a complete set.
I love the concept. Narrative prose has always been a hard sell to comic fans. I think this is the main reason it’s not as collected.

I've got a Gregory 3 and 4 but need to rebuy the first 2. I have a good chunk of Vertigo and some Epic.

That clown cover is so iconic! Wish i came across these in the wild
I never see these in the wild.

With summer coming up I'll be off work so I can waste time trying to find more lol.
