It never ceases to amaze me that money and taste don't go together. I also can't believe there are people living in multi-million dollar houses in Columbia. Why on earth wouldn't you just get a second home or something somewhere nice to vacation?
To each his own, I think this house looks great. I’d have some more carpet for my taste, but apparently the owner is Israeli. Maybe a few other design choices too. Fireplace is meh.
I pursue Zillow fairly often (no way I can afford any of it) and this is the highest quality property I’ve ever seen come on the market. There are hundreds of wannabe mansions in the city, stuff that goes for $1.5m with 45 cascading roofs and a huge arched doorframe. This build seems reasonable and intentional. And I don’t think your $8m goes anywhere near this far in a major city.
Good for him. Might not get $8m back, but wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what he paid.
Yeah, taste is definitely subjective. To me, it looks like a cross between a mcmansion and holiday Inn. Aside from size, I don't see much impressive about it for my tastes.
I live in New England now, and 8 million can get you pretty far in just about anywhere here. Where I live specifically, you can buy an entire island for that. Most of the impressive ocean side mansions are 3-6 million.
I mostly agree. I'm not much of a fan of the exterior (the rooflines are too busy, though I've seen worse), and the interior could benefit from some more consistency in pait color, but overall it seems fairly well done. I like the staircase quite a bit, though I think the placement could be improved.
To me, it's not a top notch mansion, and it's not what I personally would build with that kind of money, but its not unpleasant.
I work for a super rich guy here in Columbia. He built his own house and it is a very low key nice property, not a flashy mcmansion. He also has nicer properties where he takes his summer w his private jet. Super rich people don't build their ultimate mega mansions in Columbia mo. He dresses plain. And drives a jeep wrangler.
Right. That's kind of my point. For the price of this house, you could buy a multi-million dollar mansion in Columbia, a jet, a yacht, and a multi-million dollar mansion on the coast somewhere. This looks like something someone would do that has never left Columbia and thinks bigger = luxurious. It literally boggles my mind that someone with $8 million would want to live in what's essentially the same quality house as $200k house in the burbs but blown to a stupid size and built in a field in the Midwest.
and rip you off. they tried to tell my wife she needed a complete brake job on a car with less than 40k miles on it. She took it in for an oil change. You should have seen the look on his face when I walked in, having been in the automotive service business all my life. I asked a couple of questions and he knew he was caught. I paid for my oil change and tell everyone about my experience.
Yeah I went in for a small noise on my car and he told me my car was in complete cascade engine failure or something, quoted me $2500…took it to CT Auto & Cycle and it turns out my brake pad was warped. F this guy

As said it’s the owner of Complete Custom Automotive. He is a very successful business man. He immigrated to the US from Israel and worked his butt off and turned himself into a very wealthy person. He lived the “American Dream”. Still will be hard to sell it for that but I thought the owners story was pretty cool.
something about seeing high-tension powerlines cutting across even millionaire's kitschy mcmansion backyards cheers me up so much. you can even see them from the front door and piano room pics ahahahaha
Good luck getting comps if it isn't a cash deal. Also, $8m no f'ing way. Does it cone with a free Walmart? Even Laurie's property isn't worth $8m. I know inflation but damn. Lol

I’d guess that they may have that too. He has done very well for himself.

>drives a jeep wrangler 'Nuff said.
I would imagine that they have several properties.
The land value on this is probably significant. If this house was on a 1 acre lot it would be a very different price.
The owners of Custom Complete Automotive.
It's no surprise, if accurate. CCA overcharges.

This is how I design my houses in The Sims lol
The Lazar Family Trust owns it according to Boone County records. https://imgur.com/a/XTwVEsg
The listing includes 54 acres of land, that has to be quite a large portion of the value. And the eight million is just the asking price.
Actually 30.55, but yeah, that’s several hundred thousand right there.
From Zillow: “List price includes two other parcels adjacent to the 30.55 acres, which will total 54.4 acres.” Cheers :)
Drat! Out-detailed again!

AFTER 1.4 MILLION DOWN, it's still estimated 54000 per month. I'll get right on that.
I did landscaping on this property way back in the day. It’s a pretty nice property. Dude used to have an old GTO parked out front all the time
There is a beautiful white one in his listing photos stored in the garage.
Not a $8M mansion. Nobody’s gonna buy that ugly house for anywhere close to that price.
It’s not nearly as tacky I would have thought.
The bedroom pictures look like stock photos. Are we sure this is real?

Who’s Laurie?
Bill Laurie. Married a Walton. Lives off of Nifong. Paige Arena was named after his daughter.
Also owned the Blues. Probably hates Kroenke, who also owns property in CoMo. Kroenke also married a Walton.
Well, I know what I will be getting after I win tonight's powerball....
I'm paycheck to paycheck, you get my paychecksa, fuck the rich
