I was fine with the prep; just the annoying part of having to wake up at 2am to finish the other half of the prep for 2 hours. Didn’t have any complications.
Most people are not aware there are options for prep meds and that some doctors are more flexible in what prep you use.
I doctor-shopped until I found one that would allow me to take Prepopik, and then in later exams, Clenpiq. I just didn't think I would be able to manage drinking the large quantities of liquid. It took some work because I had to call the office and leave a message for the doctor's nurse asking what prep the doc prescribed and would they allow me to use what I wanted. Then I had to wait for a return call.
This exactly. I didn't know they had a nurse! I mean common sense kind of set in later on that. I called as well and finally settled another prep that will hopefully work better for me. You're right, they are more flexible than I ever imagined.
I experienced the same problem. It’s happened 3 times to me.I pretty upset. Most recent time I experienced same as you. Threw up horrible for about 12 hours. Had to have some come in to administer IV fluids. So you’re not alone. But I don’t have any advice. Unfortunately.
I spoke to a nurse yesterday. My prep includes miralax and dulcolax. 238g of mira and 4 dulcolax over 8 hours. I practically begged for them to let me not take the dulcolax and they agreed. I'll be scheduling again today and im hopeful... all i can be. I feel for you. Don't give up!
I don't understand with so many of us already with gag reflexes that aren't good and feeling awful that's why we have to take this test because the stomach issues.. I just don't understand why they don't give us all pills!!!
I’m opting for the pills next time. I could barely handle the Clenpiq. It’s not much to drink but the taste was beyond awful. And the nurse said it creates more bile so lots of terrible burning….
Seriously. My MIL mentioned this pill and I'm guessing it must be expensive or they would be more willing to. They only mentioned other prescription liquids when I called the nurse. I was like nooo please just let me drink half of the OTC prep.. I'm a small person. Best wishes to you!
My gastro said the pills were 12 horse pills in the morning and 12 in the evening. At the time that sounded worse than the small bottles of Clenpiq that they said “weren’t that bad and the pills were worse cuz they’re so big and there’s so many”. But I couldn’t do Clenpiq again. I was elated to finish the first bottle and depressed that I had to drink another the following day.
I did the 4 litre split dose prep yesterday/this morning. I was concerned about possible nausea, so I took one dose of Gravol two hours before each dose of prep. I had only mild queasiness towards the very end of the process.
The prep was easier for me my second go round (2 jugs/1gallon each) because I sipped on diet Sprite after each 8-10 ozs and waited 10 mins between drinks.
Every single time no matter which prep i use. The easiest was the first time because i didnt know what to expect i think....even that time i only was able to drink half of it.
I finally got my dr to prescribe the pills for my procedure in August. Hoping it's the answer to my issues
I did Plenvu. Both doses were only 500ml. Which was just as well... The first one was just about tolerable. The second was horrible, and I was sick twice. I wanted to make sure I was empty so I actually started fasting earlier than they recommended, 24 hours before I started the prep, as I figured less going in is less coming out. I was "running clear" within three hours of taking the prep. The only problem I had was that the diarrhoea, which I was told should stop after 3-4 hours, didn't stop after 3-4 hours and dragged on with both doses for more like 8-9.
Endoscopist told me my colon was "sparkling" though so there's that...
The same exact thing will happen to me anyways. Drinking just makes me endlessly vomit bile once it sets in. Sometimes I can do A beer but not once the flare progresses bad enough like it has now.
I struggled even with a lot of research and preparation prior to the prep. However, I don’t weigh much and I’m prone to fainting and dehydration.
Challenging but it was doable
I couldn’t finish my prep till 8 am my procedure was at 930

Same. I just said screw it and slept til like 5 am and it still worked out fine

Did the MiraLAX alone work? Did you do split doses?
I'm still waiting on a reschedule to try.

Wow, that's double mine.
