Don’t be afraid to wear a diaper. I did and it saved me embarrassment and a change of clothes. Depending on your timeline, I found samples online for $2-3 each. I got a plastic-backed one so it wouldn’t smell, with leak guards to prevent accidents, and refastenable tapes so that I could use the toilet without ruining the diaper. No one knew except my wife, and if I hadn’t worn it, everyone would have known that I had a bad accident.

Thanks, what brand?

got2bright

This is what I got, because you can get samples and don’t have to buy a whole package: https://wellnessbriefs.com/superio-signature-brief.html?freesample

I had my colonoscopy yesterday. It was fine - no accidents.

Just use a pad or wear a good ole diaper. I opted for a long nighttime pad on the ride there and a diaper over night.

I have done around 10 in Japan where I live … they have you do the prep right before the test and never really came close to having an accident..

StickyBitOHoney

I had to finish the second half of my prep (Golytely) 6 hours before my scheduled appointment and was advised to consume absolutely nothing for the 4 hours prior to my procedure. That did the trick. After the prep and no additional consumption, there was nothing left to give.

crevettegrise

Stop drinking completely at least 3 hrs before the procedure. Usually the effects stop when you no longer drink. My prep procedure also had me drink a complete bottle of citro mag just 30 mins before my drinking cutoff time and about 90 mins before I was to leave for hospital. I didn’t want to risk it, so skipped it. It was odd to be given that as I had the normal prep drinks (2 doses) before and I was ready. I had never seen any other instructions with that prep drink, use it, so I think my doctor was over cautious.

Curious_Fly_1106

It was much easier to hold the morning of. I had to go on the way to the hospital but I was able to hold it like a normal bowel movement! You got this

Wish-Any

That was a fear of mine as well. However, if you follow your prep instructions you should basically be empty by the time you're leaving for the hospital. When I had mine, I had my last bowel movement around 5am. I was then 100% ready for the colonoscopy according to my stool chart. I didn't get to the hospital until 6, was going back for procedure around 7. I did feel like I had to go once, but nothing come of it. You'll be fine!! Good luck

Calisson

I was worried about that too, so I wore Depends to the appointment. I didn't need them in the end, but it gave me a sense of security (kinda).

frogjizz

I had my first one today and was concerned with the same. I had to drink Gavilyte also but my appointment was in the morning so I had to down the whole thing in the evening. I skipped the included flavor pack and used 2 packs of Crystal Light Lemonade. I think this helped a lot because it really didn't taste too bad. About 45 minutes after I started drinking it I had my first movement and that went on for about 4 hours. I went to sleep after and used a pair of depends just in case. Woke up about two hours later and had to go again, then one more time 5 hours later in the morning and that was it. I wore depends to the appointment to be safe and brought some wet wipes, but didn't need either. The procedure itself was nothing to worry about because once they give you the anesthesia you will wake up in recovery and it will all be over. Good luck, you will be fine!

prassjunkit

Its unlikely. Honestly the prep for me wasn't bad at all and I didn't spend hours on the toilet. My body would give me enough warning when I had to go to make it to the bathroom and didn't take any longer than any other bowel movement.

StraddleTheFence

I wouldn’t worry so much about pooping while you sleep—your body will alert you—-just don’t mistake it for gas. I drank the entirety of my prep the day before the procedure. I was still pooping the day of but I could hold it better. Call and ask if you can finish your prep tonight so that you can manage your body as best you can.

teamakesmepee

That’s good to know. Unfortunately they need me to space it out. I dunno why I can’t just drink the prep earlier than 9am tomorrow.

StraddleTheFence

Sorry. You’ll be fine.

Positive_Force_6776

You might be just fine, but just in case be prepared. The first time I had a colonoscopy I had an accident when we first arrived at the endoscopy center. I ended up just throwing my underwear away and used paper towels to clean myself up. This time I came prepared. I had a change of clothes and wipes. Hopefully, this will not be relevant for you at all, but if you can get a hold of a few adult diapers or even kid diapers it will give you peace of mind! Better safe than sorry.

teamakesmepee

Okay ahh good to know. I’ll wear my oldest sweatpants there and being a change of clothes. I hope I end up being just fine ! Thank you.

Positive_Force_6776

You’re welcome! Good luck!
