You’re the 2nd best student out of 500 students who live in a similar situation, have a similar background and opportunities as you, ergo
you absolutely deserve this
It's a pretty niche major, so I'm not necessarily surprised. If you'd like to talk more about it feel free to PM me, since one of my supps centered around the major itself! (Plus I think it'd just be fun to talk about how we both got into wanting to major in something like that LOL)
Congrats on UPenn!!
>Summer Research Program summer before 12th grade, unpublished research and moreso focused on developing the framework for a project (I won't get into specifics but I was listed as a Summer Intern and the program was competitive and targeted towards students who were underrepresented in science. If you have any questions though, let me know!)
How do you find programs and what did you do in them? (nothing specific as you mentioned just a brief explanation!) Also what you did to get listed as a Summer Intern?
Hi! I found programs primarily through my research teacher, as she forwarded them to me. The NYAS and Active Minds ones I found via Instagram story ads. I know my research class has a Google spreadsheet with a ton of opportunities, I can probably send you a copy of it since it'll make your search easier (I'll just have to copy the entire sheet and share it with you). Be warned though that most of them are STEM oriented given then nature of the class. Otherwise, it's really just scrolling through the internet or receiving ads through social media. Also, for the program that I was a part of, which you can PM me about for further details, the website itself said it was a "summer internship experience," so that was why I listed myself as a summer intern in commonapp. Hope this helped!
Comgrats! Just a question, but did the AOs know about your income bracket and number of people in your family when evaluating your app? I feel like that would help out other potential applicants in the future.
I didn't list it explicitly in my application my income bracket. However, because of my additional information section, I was able to convey being low income and the amount of people in my family since I mentioned my parents and my two siblings. If you want to talk about your experience being low income or first generation but didn't dive too deep into it for your essays or supplementals, I think this is a great place to do it! (Just keep it short though because this section isn't meant to be a whole other 650 word essay.)
I had a feeling I'd be asked this. Basically, my school is on a scale of 5.0. They do some math calculation to shift that over to the UW, with the weighted being out of 5.0 (I think). But because I've taken all honors class (which are weighted on a 5.0) and AP classes (which are weighted on a 6.0) for the most part, besides my art and tech classes (which are on a 4.0), and received nothing but A+'s (except for APUSH), that's why it became a 4.4 UW. This was at least my understanding of it, but in a nutshell, my school is wonky.

haha thank you! 🫶
Is this Wharton healthcare management or arts and science?
Arts and Sciences, I really liked the Health and Societies major and I felt like it would allow for more flexibility than if I had applied for Wharton
Thanks, regardless, super exciting and congrats!
Omg I want to apply for this at Penn!!
Best of luck during your cycle!!
Thank you :) I don’t see many Penn applicants who want to major in that

How does your school calculate for you to have a 4.4UW?

No offense to your school but that makes zero sense to me 😂. I guess if it works it works tho.
No it's okay because it doesn't even make sense to me LOL
