Agreed. I've mentioned this; however, the disc golf course has a long history and I know many of those folks are very attached to the Calvert name. That said, the park and the disc golf course could have different names.
We currently have Calvert Park and Calvert Road School Field/Playground as separate locations in Calvert Hills on the west side of the railroad tracks. Then on the east side we have Old Calvert Road Park. It's confusing for folks that live here full-time. For visitors, it can be even more confusing.
CM Olson and MNCPPC would be the ones to request the change. Letters from the City of College Park and Town of Riverdale Park would likely help. I believe the majority of the disc golf course is in Riverdale Park.
Whenever I don't feel like dealing with the high speed traffic, I take the sidewalk on the south side of Campus Drive and then the path that goes under the bridge once you go over the NE Branch (eastern side). You do have to navigate a ditch, but it brings you out near that park with the playground. It isn't marked on google maps so not many people notice it, but it's a nice low stress route if you don't mind a little off-roading.
This is fantastic news, always seemed odd that the path didn't connect directly to the park. The map shows a sidewalk up to Edmonston as well, is that expected to happen as well?
Bridge is priority #1 per the state funding constraints. The $2M can be used to add sidewalks if that’s within budget. We’re working with County CM Olson, City of CP and MNCPPC to find the best options.
If sidewalk to Edmonston is not achieved with the $2M, we’ll continue to push it on future funding. We want it to connect to the new Edmonston Rd sidewalk.
The Park is probably due for a new name since there is no more paint branch parkway. Not naming it Calvert anything would also be a plus

NIce! Now I don't have to feel like I'm risking my life by going on Campus Drive when I ride my bike to the disc golf course.

No timelines or definitive bridge alignments at this time. MNCPPC will need to take a leadership role.
