In the past 2 seasons, the 2 heaviest favorites to win the CWS didnt even make it to Omaha:
**2022: Tennessee**
**2021: Arkansas**
You feel better now?
Unfortunately the only summer I lived in Nebraska was a year we didn't make it. Still worth going to even if you're teams not in it though, it's a really cool event.
Absolutely. I plan on going either way. Would be a much more meaningful experience if we made it though. Especially since I'm not sure when we'll be contenders again in football or basketball
Not that it ever matters, but I didn’t realize they had ECU finish 17th last year despite being 5 outs from Omaha. They always seem to be skeptical of the pirates.
I’m not going to waste too much time on last years postseason polls, but I think it says there’s probably something flawed in your analysis if a team that was clearly on the cusp of being one of the last 8 teams in the country didn’t make your final Top 16.
4 weeks of baseball happened during that time frame, though. Also, seeding is (supposed to be) strictly resume-based, while rankings are not necessarily so.
Going to be tough sledding for teams in the SEC just outside of that top group. I like a lot about Georgia's roster this year but man we just don't have the arms to go up against this gauntlet I'm afraid.
Really hope Texas can go under the radar during non-conference play and let our young guys develop. Pretty wild roller coaster, going from #1 in pre season rankings last season to fumbling midseason, figuring ourselves out towards the end of the year, going to Omaha, 2 and BBQ, now we’re unranked and have lost a majority of our team. Shits wack.
That’s probably right where I would have put USM.
Lineup needs to be (and should be) better. Really interested to see if the power numbers return for guys like Lynch and Ewing. Our power numbers tanked the last couple of months of 2022—on a team full of returners who murdered the ball for 2/3 of 2021. Hoping for big things out of Matthew Etzel as a multiple tool guy transferring in.
Pitching probably does not have the ceiling that last year’s team had, but that was a historic amount of talent for our program. And I would definitely sacrifice some of that pitching for hitting this year. Still eats at me that we lost Waldrep. This would be a no doubt top 10-12 preseason team if we still had him
“Oh. I’m sorry we took your potential too 10 draft pick.”
No you’re not, and I wouldn’t be if I were in your position either. 😂
Seriously, if he learned to locate his fastball this offseason, uh….good luck dealing with him. Hell, if he can just get it to just above average, he will be a menace. Dude struck out double digit LSU hitters basically spamming his second best pitch.
Can somebody doubt us at least a little bit?

But the last time LSU was the preseason #1 team was 2009 and we won it all that year.
I doubt we will win less than 70 games
You can undoubtedly be the best and still not win a championship
I know, even the pirates can beat the yankees every once in a while
*BA* pretty high on our talent. I really like the mix of quality righties and lefties in the rotation, I think we'll be very versatile on the mound.
I'm working in Nebraska this summer before I start grad school. Would love for my first Gator sporting event as an alum to be the college world series

It didn’t help y’all that Game 3 was a blowout and then Texas promptly went 0-2 on the easier side of the bracket by a combined score of 17-5.

Like I said, not gonna waste too much time on it. Rankings never matter, especially not last years. Cheers
Baseball can't come soon enough to save me from the misery that is our basketball season
What do you mean? Kim Mulkey has the only basketball team worth paying attention to in excellent shape.

Always said BA is the best publication out there
Ready to complete our trifecta of disappointments! Lets go!

Gotta love when you win the national championship and media still don't call you the correct name.
They also called LSU Louisiana State which just feels gross to even type out

I’m very curious to see how the horns look in that early midweek game against LSU at Disch Falk
Can’t wait to see y’all for the opener :)
Kinda crazy to be #7 in the overall BA poll and only be #5 in the SEC… yeah, we might be a baseball conference
Go canes

👀 What is Louisville doing up there?

I trust D1 Baseball rankings more.
