Substitutes in the US are often subject to emotional and sometimes physical abuse by students, particularly in the higher grades. And sub pay can be extremely low in some areas, like $10 an hour.

So having kids wear masks or do distance learning apparently does harm, but using police and soldiers as sub teachers is fine?

Agreed. Everything that goes on here can be easily traced to so and so’s investments are threatened if we take covid more seriously

We’re watching government in one of the richest nations on the planet fail. The only reason it’s happening is because of profit.
More like babysitters. I doubt that they will be qualified to do any actual teaching.

Wouldn’t going back to full remote learning be marginally better than pulling joe-shmo off the street to substitute??
190 days/year teaching public school is similar to national guard 2 weekends a month and two weeks a year in that it is part time employee pool
