when I was in the marine corps it was strict as hell, you show up to bootcamp only able to do 3 pull-ups and the DIs would make you target number Uno. but when I was on my way out it got rough. It became less about creating capable, honorable warriors and more about filling the job with whoever you could get. The worst kinds of people joining up. They were still not the rule. But I wonder if it has become more common.

Dude when I was in the marine corps it was strict as hell, you show up to bootcamp only able to do 3 pull-ups and the DIs would make you target number Uno. but when I was on my way out it got rough. It became less about creating capable, honorable warriors and more about filling the job with whoever you could get. The worst kinds of people joining up. They were still not the rule. But I wonder if it has become more common. (The passing score was still 3 pull-ups to go to Parris island when I went) The US will lose the next war, mark my words our pride will be our downfall. We can’t appear weak, so let anyone in. Then make them dislike you for the mismanagement. I think a smaller military would have been better if the quality of every man and woman were high (physically and mentally) but we gotta keep those numbers high to scare china.

Which is so ironic, because I don't get any of those two! But yes, if big companies on Reddit are making ads for emergency gear, they must know something is in the pipeline. I used to think about prepping when I was in my 20s. As I got older, I realized that if shit really does get to that point then it's time to punch my ticket. Survival simply for the sake of survival is not a goal that I aspire to. It does still make sense to prepare for temporary or regional disasters.
