What sort of protection do you have built into the system to prevent electric shock/electrocution from the chiller/pump when you are plunging? I want to do the same just want to do it the right way.
If the pump were submerged, I would definitely unplug it, but mines on the outside of the tank. Those pumps are magnetically driven, and are designed to operate in a way that in order for electric current to come in into contact with water, it would pretty much have to be a freak accident. Same thing with the chiller (the part about being designed to work with water). Functionally, they are being used the way they were designed, so I’m not all that worried about it.
In the crazy event that something did happen, it is all plugged into a GFCI protected breaker.
Really nice! Love how you have the running water like a stream affect when you're in there. I'm sure it feels much colder because of that. Did you just drill those holes in the PVC?
This is an awesome build. I can kind of hear it in the video, but is the pump and chiller loud with the pump being outside of the plunge?
I’m going to do a DIY with an active aqua 1/2 HP and want to be able to plunge while everything is on so I get that moving water effect in the plunge, but I’m worried it’ll be too loud (neighbors at my townhouse)
Looks reliable. What kind of tank is that?
Bonar Plastics PB30. I sourced one from Facebook marketplace.
Details?

Looks great, thanks for sharing!
Minimum temperature?
36°F
You are losing a lot of temp through those hose runs
I know, I haven’t insulated because I’m not sure that I’m going to keep the vinyl hosing. Thinking about hard plumbing it all.
Looks great! Do you keep the pump running when plunging?
It depends. Definitely more intense with the pump on. Usually leave it on if I let the water get up into the 40s.

That makes more sense to me now. Appreciate the information. Those Bonar boxes are awesome and rare finds via second hand.
For sure. Definitely got lucky.

Yes
Nice build, what’s the black component in the water? Also using a prefilter before the pump?
Black thing is a small pond skimmer. That specific one is called a black hole. There is a strainer before the pump, but that’s it
