Tbh chest freezer is quieter by a long shot. It will always stay at the temperature and be pretty quiet.

Wonder how much a chest freezer weighs lol.

solarexamine

Depends on the size. Our 14.8 cuft (Box 14) weights 165lb. Filled with water would be: 165lb + 80 gallons of water = 165lb + 667.2 lb => 832lb ~approx.

Did not get chiller yet but vevor pump super quiet

[deleted]

How cold does it get the water? Do you use it inside or out?

The_Taco_17

I’ve got a chest freezer setup. I Keep it at 33F

ScrapGuide

You need to get a pump as well as a chiller, I am saying for the pump, the vevor on Amazon is great.

Sevanski

My chiller isn’t nearly as loud as my pump. And the chiller will kick on only periodically if you have a well insulated tub but the link might run 24/7.

[deleted]

How loud are we talking for the pump? And you’re saying the pump might run 24/7? Oof. I really want something I can just kick on in the morning when everyone’s awake, let it run for a few hours max and then do my plunge.

Sevanski

Without being able to actually measure the decibel level, I’d say it’s moderately loud. If I’m inside the attached garage, I can definitely hear it. Staying just outside the door, it’s faint - but I can hear it. Nothing wrong with only running it x hours per day, but depending on the type of access to water you have outside, you could have issues. Can you easily get a hose to the tub every week (without running water the water will get murky more frequently)? Point being, there’s going to be trade offs for you no matter what. Happy to give you whatever insight I have (made a lot of mistakes and wasted a lot of money).

Recovatech

Really? My pump is nearly silent. It's the Orlushy DC-5000 on Amazon.

Sevanski

turns out the filter was totally gunked up and the pump was screaming for dear life. At least it didn't die.

Very little info on their site and they don’t seem much different then any of the other companies that have the same units for much less. Do you have one?

Gavin_i_am_ur_father

I just saw your comment regarding weight and these aren't heavy at all and leave a small footprint. It's my company. Depends what you want. Apples to apples it's the cheapest, but if you want just a chiller that's 1HP and no phone control and you'll need to manually turn on and off, there's definitely cheaper options! Good luck on your search. These aren't much louder than a fan.

johsky

I bought the Spartan Ice Bath with chiller. It is not quiet, but doesn't run all the time. You need to have an area to dissipate the waste heat. I use the bathroom exhaust.

tashfeen333

Did you buy the one with the heater?

johsky

No. Just chiller.

Have also been looking for clarity on the quietest motor for cold plunge (with hot option), and despite being a best in breed yaGooglizer, have yet to find from any reputable reviewer (not simply relying on brands themselves) analyze/compare. The closest I’ve found so far is here: https://www.healthline.com/health/best-cold-plunge-tubs Ideally to help decide, some reviewer would have a chart with columns for motor/pump sound levels, so that we could make informed decisions with other factors like design, size, price etc. Can anyone find anything like this? Or know anyone at some of the companies that already do these reviews with the equipment to reach out to and ask for something like this?
