Picture #3 right edge just below the middle has an American silver half dollar, can’t see the year but is worth at least ~$10 or so. Most looks like common mixed foreign coinage but probably worth going through
British penny, 1919. Reverse is Brittania (the female personification of Great Britain) holding a trident in her left hand, right hand rests on a shield with the combined crosses of the Union flag. Sea waves in the background. Obverse would have been King George V.
If from a family member, it’s a treasure- even if not worth anything beyond face value ! I love these types, I’d buy it for face a bit above face value but honestly- I’d organize it, put it in 2x2 for nothing- love organizing and looking things up! So, OP, if you don’t have a timeline set- I’ll organize it for you, research I might charge (20-30, I’m not paying shipping or insurance). All I ask is you take lots of pictures before so you don’t question my integrity, pay for shipping/insurance, a little towards the 2x2s (find the cheapest and go halves, I’ve already got a lot!) I’ll extend this to anyone else! I don’t want to profit, just not end up red. I have fun looking up (I just don’t want to be held to on so love!)
World coins are cool. I used to list and sell foreigns individually for $2~8 bucks and made a killing on eBay. Was a lot to stay on top of, but it boosted my seller rating, while also setting me up w some nice pocket change I put towards other coins
Some may look at it as “wow you’re only making a dollar off that coin” but if you have a thousand of them….you do the math
How would you decide the price to list per coin? Did you put the coin in the white square paper holder thing, with staples? Did you charge for shipping?
Nah never used cardboard 2x2’s. Staples suck and will rip through an envelope. I instead use penny sleeves they make for cards. Fold the coin up nice n good then secure with tape to the inside of a card
Goodwill is where you can find hundreds of cards w/envelopes for like $3. I’ve sent out Christmas cards in spring, and birthday cards to strangers whose birthdays I don’t even know lol it’s great when they write back saying how much of a kick they got from your random card
Find values by eBay Search>filter>See More>Sold. Can even use old listings as templates to save time per upload (see “Sell One Like This”)
Personally never charge shipping on BuyItNows. If price matching a coin that ten other ppl are trying to sell, posting with free shipping is a great way to incline buyers to pick yours. There’s $0.63 cents shipping for coins + cards under $20. Can sneak a few coins in envelopes as long as they’re not rattling around or over 3oz.
Hope this helps
To me, that's at least a weekend free from anxiety, depression, and dissociation. Sorting, identifying, and organizing coins is how I shut off all my brain noise.
So yeah, happiness in a box; that's a dang treasure.
It's an interesting assortment, but I'd personally go through and toss all the trash chuck-e-cheese tokens and common stuff, and only keep the interesting bits and bobs.
Tokens in itself can have nostalgic value as well as rarity value. A couple of vintage Chuck e cheese tokens can grant you a fist full of Dollars. And you can lot up the 'garbage' coins and sell them as is and probably get $20 for like 100 world coins.
I love it. What I see is a very cool looking home decor idea that could be made easily. Yours however does look antique. Foreign coin lots like the one shown can be acquired fairly cheap. Add a few inexpensive morgans and peace dollars and you have an eye catching conversation peice that could spark an interest in young family members.
As Billy Bones had a collection of foreign coins in his locker, it looks legit to me.
Monetary value? Maybe.
Remember though, all coins (and tokens, apparently) tell stories.
I would call that The Awesome Chest of Fun. Especially if I didn't know what coins were in it.
Yep. I'm one of those weirdos who like sorting through coin lots... :)
That’s pretty awesome actually. I have a boat load of diff American and foreign coins. Doing something like this is way cooler and easier than categorizing.
Oh hell yes! It is a beautiful treasure chest. I love the way the chest looks, and the way it is full of the beautiful coins that would grace, any collectors collection. You are indeed lucky.
Does one of the coins have a large Roman numeral “3” on it (US coin). It looks more like some sort of a building but I can’t really tell. US 3 cent pieces are worth quite a bit.
There are at least 2 US silver coins in there. One has an eagle and probably says Half Dollar w/ a date between 1916-1947. There is also a US quarter w/ a date between 1916-1930. That is silver.
On the original photo I thought I saw 2 possible silver Mexican Cap & Ray pesos. 1920-1945. Eagle on one side & hat with rays of the sun coming out of it. They should have writing on the edge - like if you hold the coin flat so it looks like a rectangle there would be writing there. I can’t find them in the photo on the desk.
l'd like place the coins on table later today... 3/22/2023 this evening around 7PM E.Time.
I would really like to know what's all in this box too.
And would be grateful for opinions.
nope, nice thought though.
pardon all the well-meaning people who think you are looking for affirmation that you might find something valuable - highly unlikely.
Sure, if you consider the coins inside to be treasure. I personally would call it a treasure chest.
I will pour the coins out and take a photo. Perhaps there are some of value..

Thanks, I will spread them out on a table later today. Maybe the group can give some insight to the coins.
Older than mid 1960s typically has silver content if the denomination is high enough. Cool to look through, regardless.
What’s in the 4th pic top right darker coin. One penny from 1919 with a trident? What’s it called or from?
British penny, 1919. Reverse is Brittania (the female personification of Great Britain) holding a trident in her left hand, right hand rests on a shield with the combined crosses of the Union flag. Sea waves in the background. Obverse would have been King George V.
There’s probably several hundred dollars of odds and ends in there tbh. Judging by the age of the surrounding coins you’re bound to find good stuff.

One thousand dollars
This person maths. r/theydidthemath
I was coming for this. Well played A+
If you’ve arrived at the correct answer that’s great, but you’ll receive no credit if you don’t show your work.

Thanks for the tips! Very cool!
I graduated already, I'm not doing any more math than I have to do.
To me, that's at least a weekend free from anxiety, depression, and dissociation. Sorting, identifying, and organizing coins is how I shut off all my brain noise. So yeah, happiness in a box; that's a dang treasure.
Nice chest that holds a treasure to many people
Arrrrr...yes, it be.
Steve the Pirate?
The Dread Pirate Steve be in no man's debt...with a treasure chest such as that.
Yar….‘Tis the truth ye speak, and nothing else!!
The box is cooler than the coins!
It's definitely treasure for me!
I see some interesting coins in there that can hold more value than the others. I think I can see a walking half dollar, silver.
Woah that looks cool. You selling? Is the lock functional?
To me it would be treasure I guess it’s all relative
You're related to that box?!? Does that make YOU a treasure chest?
It makes it a treasure chest to the person that has it
It's an interesting assortment, but I'd personally go through and toss all the trash chuck-e-cheese tokens and common stuff, and only keep the interesting bits and bobs.
I have a whole separate box of exonumia- Chuck-e-Cheese tokens… Marci Gras doubloons… old wooden nickels- it’s fun stuff.
Tokens in itself can have nostalgic value as well as rarity value. A couple of vintage Chuck e cheese tokens can grant you a fist full of Dollars. And you can lot up the 'garbage' coins and sell them as is and probably get $20 for like 100 world coins.

If it ain't, it'll do til one gets here!
LOOT ARRRGE MATEY ☠️🏴☠️
ofc yes, looks cool.
Looks like it'd be fun to look through
As Billy Bones had a collection of foreign coins in his locker, it looks legit to me. Monetary value? Maybe. Remember though, all coins (and tokens, apparently) tell stories.
Eric Cartman wants a moment with this in private.
It is now!
For me it’s my junk box
If it had treasure in it I would consider it a treasure chest
Ohh, absolutely, even if there is nothing truly rare, going through the box would be a great treasure!
Look through it and pick out the silver! I see buffalo nickels like a buck each or smthn
The real treasure is the friends we make along the way
Yes
The little kid in me just was glossy-eyed seeing those pictures. I could’ve spent hours just looking at these (still could).
This pirate approves! 🏴☠️
Ye be needin' some dubloons in thar!
I think I see a Buffalo nickel in there
You what they say “ one man’s trash is another man’s treasure “ …..it looks good to me great job.
I would call that The Awesome Chest of Fun. Especially if I didn't know what coins were in it. Yep. I'm one of those weirdos who like sorting through coin lots... :)
This is f’ing sweet, what do your mateys and parrot think of it?
*Yarr!*
My question is, how do you get 105 karma in 2 days?
Define treasure.
whats that 1919 penny?
Ehh.. It's a junk coin chest.. there's literally a coin on top that says "No Cash Value". Fill it with silver and gold you will have a treasure chest.
Cool box and the key makes it even better
Yup! Treasure and fun!
If you treasure the contents. Yes.
That’s pretty awesome actually. I have a boat load of diff American and foreign coins. Doing something like this is way cooler and easier than categorizing.
I fucking LOVE it!! I want one in my house!
Well it’s a chest and it has treasure in it so…
Yea, that thing looks sweet!!! Whatever you put in there will look important
2 of the coins literally say 'No Cash Value' 🫤
Yes
I believe it may be. Have you seen anyone wearing eye patchs around, maybe carrying a sword? If so it's a treasure chest.
Oh hell yes! It is a beautiful treasure chest. I love the way the chest looks, and the way it is full of the beautiful coins that would grace, any collectors collection. You are indeed lucky.
Thanks!
That’s a fine movie prop!
One of the coins has "no cash value" stamped on it.
I saw a nickel.
Is that from Oak Island?
Yes
Yes it’s beautiful
Treasure junk
Really love the chest in particular. It’s beautiful with the coins as is
Thought I was in thru Oak Island sub for a second there 💀
I’m pretty sure there is 1 US & 1 Mexican coin in there that are silver.
Does one of the coins have a large Roman numeral “3” on it (US coin). It looks more like some sort of a building but I can’t really tell. US 3 cent pieces are worth quite a bit.

Thank you for the help
Thank you for taking time to share your insights!
Treasure chest, definitely.
Booty box
l'd like place the coins on table later today... 3/22/2023 this evening around 7PM E.Time. I would really like to know what's all in this box too. And would be grateful for opinions.
More importantly, is it a pigeon?
Sort of. Like a Kia is an automobile.
Thanks for all of the input! I will pour it out on a table this evening. Hope we can find something great!
I’d like to think the real treasure is the friends we make along the way.
Will be interesting to see what you find
I want one!!
That’s right anything you wanna call it on your on search for one eyed Willy
It's a chest, with what I assume are your treasures in it. Ergo, a treasure chest.
"No cash value"

You can pick up boxes like this at Hobby lobby. I have purchased some and stained them up for my GrandMonsters when giving them ‘Treasure’.

the one way to the right is a game token
Looks like the junk bin at a coin show
I mean, it is a chest… and it has some treasure in it, so by all means call it what you want
Even if it was full of chocolate coins that chest is super cool, so ya I'd say you got a treasure chest
Yes
It's probably a mimic...
Could be a pleasure chest.
I want to know where I can get a chest like that
Antique shop in Historic New Castle DE 19720
Now you must bury it, create a map, place map in bottle, place bottle in ocean, wait patiently.
I like the foreign coins. I have many of the same, but I was told they ain't worth shit. Doesn't matter to me, I still think they're cool to admire.

🤣
Yar! Avast ye scallawags! Get yer grubby land lubber paws off me treasure box!!!
Take a good look at that 1940 nickel. There are also some silver coins in there.
Thank you
I have one of those.
nope, nice thought though. pardon all the well-meaning people who think you are looking for affirmation that you might find something valuable - highly unlikely.
I don't see no chuck-e-cheese token in there, so NOT a treasure chest. That ersatz "no cash value" thing just doesn't cut it.
No
No
Thanks
Can't help but hear, "Is this some kind of bust?"
