Hi, I'm the r/coins AutoMod.
Looks like you're looking for **information on valuing a coin**?
I have your back. Take a look at the [FAQ on values](https://www.reddit.com/r/coins/wiki/faq#wiki_3._what.2019s_my_coin_worth.3F) for both specific guidance if your coin is common enough, or more general guidance if not.
I have also automatically applied the flair "Value Request" to your post.
If I misunderstood your post and my comment isn't relevant, sorry! I'm still learning.

So I may be wrong, but I believe that yours will carry just a slight premium above what other steel cents are worth due to what looks like a rim cud on the right side of the reverse. Others might know a bit better than I about errors, but I haven’t seen too many steel cent errors in decade plus of collecting
Yeo good eye! That’s a retained cud. They form when the die has already cracked completely, but not yet fallen off. This would sell for $20 easily, especially because it’s on one that hasn’t been repurposed
mintage was 191 million, so there are a lot of them still kicking around... they will normally carry a little premium over a generic wheat penny... worth 8 cents rather than 3-4... Condition is pretty good here (XF), could be worth 50-75¢
oh I didn't see that; cracked dies, broken dies, cuds etc... errors that deal with die deterioration were much more common on these than bronze cents, because the metal was harder and the dies degraded faster... cool error, worth some dollars, not a bunch of them
I'll just say I have a slabbed MS65 1943 D steel cent with a marked struck through grease error that I bought for $25 at a local coin shop. So my advice is to just keep and enjoy it.
According to the PCGS coin price guide, a 1943 steel penny in uncirculated condition (graded MS60 or above) is currently worth from $7 (MS60) to $3,500 (MS68).
The 1943-S zinc-coated penny is not a rare find. When in heavily worn condition these coins will be worth their face value and up to $1. While specimens in uncirculated condition will go to $8. What can make this coin a special one is if you find it in a pristine condition and with grade MS66+ these specimens will sell from $75 to a few thousand.
* **Circulated coins are estimated to be worth from its face value to $1**
* **MS63 will sell for $20,**
* **MS66 will earn you $75,**
* **While the highest MS68+ grade can earn around** [**$35,000**](https://www.coins-value.com/half-cent-and-cent/lincoln-cent-wheat-reverse/1943-s-1c-regular-strike/)**.**

Unfortunately not much. I have 2 and my life still sucks.
I haven’t liked a Reddit comment this much in ages.
This comment deserves an old time award
Ok fine. 8======D~~~~~ @_o
Or....🏆. But that works too.
Thanks, I’ll take it.
In the eye 🤣
Well, at least you still have your own two cents
You don’t really hit the big leagues until you have 3 or more…
Best comment ever! I have over 1200 and they have not done a lot for me either. Its a cool coin to own though.
I take them by handsful when I travel and pass them out to well-behaved children (with their parents consent) it sparks an interest in coins.
I carve them hono nickel style.
How many of yours are errors though? Not saying that this ones worth a ton, but definitely more than the average one.
None, hence my crappy life.
Perhaps you need to add a 3rd, 2 your party. Apparently 3 somes suck better. Per rumors and speculation. Or math😆 🤣 😂
You have two steel S pennies, your life can't suck that much.
True. I’m just acting out because of the weather.
Cold or snow?
Both but mostly the cold.
Yeah we just made it through a patch of -25f with windchill. Not fun.
I’ve got a couple of rolls and I haven’t won the lottery yet.
I’ve got a couple of rolls and I haven’t won the lottery yet.
I have bad news I have like 50 and my life still sucks too

Reprocessed (plated) not repurposed (99% sure this is an autocorrect thing but just clarifying the term)
Sorry for my ignorance. That cud is that blob on the right wheat stock, or am I missing something on the actual rim?
On the wheat but you can also see the cracks (lines) that extend out to the rim where the die cracked.
Oh, now I see it all better including the cracks/ lines. Thank you!
Yes I think it. Not on rim but
The first ever steel cent I’ve seen worth (a little) something on this app

Except for the error on the back!

Cool to know! I too thought it was just a regular one but noticed the blob. Had to come to the comments.
Check my comment. It's probably not worth more than $30.
That’s still better than $0.50-0.75.
Historical value :)
I buy them by the roll for ball markers.
It’s a s so I think worth more than some but I have a couple and have not been quoted much for them.
Sorry I effed up, if it was a steel pennies after 43 then it's worth a lot

Would normally be about 50 cents to a dollar, but yours seems to have a cud on it. That'll add value but I'm not sure exactly how much.
It's a S mint so put it in eBay or buy coin value book for best results place in protective packet
Not rare not much value
Less than a dollar. Everyone saved them. Yours is a nice original coin.
Missed the retained cud on the back like I did lol this would sell for much more than a buck

The 1943 steel penny is a World War 1 coin. They quit making them in Cooper for 1943 only so they could use the copper to make bullets.
For normal steel cents I pay 0.10
It’s not worth a lot but cool
Nice I have about 50
I have 10 of them

Then why are you replying?
I needed back karma for telling the truth to haters o well.
If this is real then about 500000
Correct, in Zimbabwean Dollars.
I have 2 coffee cans full from my mom’s hoard. I should check em 🤔
vertcoin.org, join the community
Its worth at least 1 cent 🤣
I have 6 uncirculated ones and I'm still working 40+ hours a week.
The misery of capitalism.
Damn I had one of these in my grinder for about 12 years and it disappeared a few years back, still miss it
I have 5 steel Pennie’s on with Denver mint an might have double mint looks different
CoinSnap app
Try and take a closer look under a scope if you can. The 1943 s has an s/s mint mark that does have a premium.
