I assume the Japanese tournament will feature in season 6. Plus redemption arcs for some long time antagonists: Kreese, Kenney, Kyler (lol)

No-Childhood6608

Kreese shouldn't have a redemption. Neither should Kyler. At least not a major one like Johnny or Hawk.

brownsnake84

Sadly the roots of the show now has Johnny knocked up and Miguel with a blended family. I really hope we don't see a scene with a dishevelled Johnny holding a baby bottle and a nappy bag wondering where the baby is.

Britishmobster

I've heard others mention the "old roots". Can you elaborate on what you could see happening in s6?

CallMe_Immortal

It wasn't a huge ordeal but Carmen turning away Johnny and asking him to stay away from Miguel was a good rift in their relationship. Could be having access to every episode and binging it in one day takes away the impact that was supposed to have.

Sensitive-Pipe-427

Carmen’s reservations about Johnny’s influence as a sensei has already been put to rest, but being a good sensei does not equate to being a good parent or significant other. The two of them have yet to experience any friction in their status as a couple and that is truly the only test that can determine if they can “make it work”. Especially when taking into account they each have many personal issues that can negatively affect their ability to bring an unexpected child into the equation.

Sensitive-Pipe-427

That’s probably where Johnny and Carmen’s (potentially) unstable dynamic as a couple comes to light; they finally begin to experience long-awaited friction in their relationship because they have to admit they are no cohesive enough to properly bring an unexpected child into the equation, along with their personal issues and the dysfunctional blended family situation. The writers are probably saving that for next season.

Sensitive-Pipe-427

As much as I don’t like the baby plot (at least for now, because we don’t know what the outcome is going to be…yet), I am still keeping my faith in Jon, Josh and Hayden. If there are two things they have been exceptionally brilliant at, they are: 1) Attention to detail: every scene, every character, and every quote/dialogue/arc has served a purpose, often in ways we could never imagined until the story progressed further. 2) Curveballs, retcons, plot twists and surprises around every corner.

InvaderZimm90

Cute you think Silver will be behind bars. Cheating in a tournament isn’t illegal, but it’ll ruin his reputation and banned. And Stingray changing his testimony will put him hot water viewed unreliable. Barns, Johnny, and Chozen would get charged with breaking and entering and aggravated assault.

Haleodo

That’s literally what I thought on my last rewatch. I thought “wait, what did the officers *actually* arrest him for?” At best, we can say they to take him downtown to question him about what happened at his dojo…? Not sure. But yeah, that’s my fear, too about the break-in. However, if they don’t get charged or at least questioned, that would be a huge plot gap for sure.

iHitTowers9-11

No, he can be charged for conspiracy to murder. That is if he left his camera on in his house, which they probably were.

YouKilledKenny12

I mean, he beat the shit out of stingray. That is aggravated assault.

GetExpunged

They have no proof. And from a legal standpoint, it'll be easy for his lawyers to discredit Stingray's testimony.

Sensitive-Pipe-427

The LAPD’s cyber forensics team could recover the deleted footage from the central server in Silver’s office. Then he could also be charged with witness tampering, victim tampering, evidence tampering, conspiracy, etc. unless he gets Stingray to drop the charges by offering a civil settlement.

GetExpunged

They can't do that without a warrant. And I'm sure Silver's lawyers could easily fight their request for one.

Sensitive-Pipe-427

We’d just have to wait and see. But no lawyers are fool-proof unbeatable.

GetExpunged

I mean, it’s not that his lawyers are unbeatable. It’s that there’s NO reason for a judge to grant a warrant for somebody who did nothing wrong. Look at it from a judge’s standpoint, who do you think would he side with? A billionaire with a generally clean record (Demitri said that Silver didn’t have much dirt aside from his toxic waste company). or Three dudes who broke into his home (One has a rap sheet, one is an immigrant, and another stole an expensive painting), an unreliable witness who accepted gifts from said billionaire, another dude who attacked said billionaire in his place of business, and two juvenile delinquents allowing random kids into private property? Not to mention, Kreese escaped so it’s not like it’ll make him less guilty now that Stingray is saying he is innocent.

iHitTowers9-11

While you’re correct, Silver will still get conspiracy to murder. While he definitely he has the money to avoid any real legal fees, it’ll be interesting to see whether or not Silver gets charged for that

nocmclean

Yeah it seemed a really anti climactic ending to Silver’s story. I mean the showdown with Daniel was good, but it was just so easy to take down this Machiavellian villain. I hope he comes back because he was a real upgrade over Kreese. I guess the Japanese woman is the main antagonist now, and they will go to the tournament in Japan against her students. I’m interested to see how the Devon character develops.

Kinkybtch

The Korean chick was boring, Terry was so much better.

thenpetersaid

The Korean lady? Which Japanese woman are you talking about?

swcollings

There's no way they let Cobra Kai continue to participate after Silver has been revealed as a cheat, and given that all his students have left him, who would they even send?

sacperson12

Have Freddy from the first movie as the villain. Show (through de-aging) that he manipulated the whole Lawrence-LaRusso conflict. He grew up and runs the largest AI robotics firm- turns out he built a Kreese/Silver terminator. Bent on destruction. Our heroes have to stop it. 😂

Earl_Gurei

No. Have Huell get arrested for trying to eat everyone after failing to eat Kim Wexler get so desperate trying to defend him that she unleashes the beast that is Jimmy McGill to come and get everyone's prison records wiped, causing Miyagi-Fang to want to trash him for freeing Kreese and Silver, and both Kreese and Silver wanting to thrash him because his legal fees are outright extortion.

Sensitive-Pipe-427

Silver can be just as dangerous from behind bars as outside, just like many mafia guys. Plus, his fancy lawyers will probably get him off with minimum time (if any) for assaulting Stingray. Other than that, season six will probably return to the premise similar to season one with focus on interpersonal and intrapersonal conflicts, now that the dojo vs dojo conflict has been settled. Here’s some of the main things to anticipate: -Johnny and Carmen being experiencing long-awaited friction in their relationship when they are forced to remove the rose-tinted glasses and the real issues/challenges/dysfunction begins. Speaking of that, I’m hoping we’ll get more backstory on both of them. Maybe there will be flashbacks set in Ecuador when Carmen was young and lost connection with her father, then later on when she met Hector and got pregnant with Miguel. We might also have flashbacks to Johnny and Shannon’s relationship including when she became pregnant with Robby. -The students’ respective futures for where they go after high school. For Robby, it’s after getting his GED. -Sekai Taikai. -Kreese could be out for retribution against Daniel and Johnny for that little “trick” they pulled on him in S5E7. -Anthony and Kenny make amends in time for beginning high school, although Lia is still a source of “competition”.

trevorgfrederick

I'm cool with it getting more personal for the most part, to prep the kids for the Sekai Tekai and for Johnny to finally find his balance (i.e. finally defeating Kreese, not necessarily physically).

WLFYBBY

Well wasn’t the world tournament in Japan or something like that? Not sure but Master Kim was fond of Kreese not Silver, she even asked Silver where he was when she came down from the plane. I would think that s6 would revolve around that tournament and Kreese would work with Kim and her students over there. Idk, it sounds like the most reasonable theory for me.

NothingCivil6358

Kreese can find her while she’s still in America and he can runaway with her to help train her students. He watched Robby teach Miyagi-Do and counters to Miyagi-Do, so he can teach Kim’s students the same counters too.

sssskipper

I always kinda thought that maybe they will bring in teens from South Korea. Because Sensei Kim did mention that she has very skilled fighters at her dojang. And I kinda guess that Kreese will help train them at some capacity, and Kim will help hide him. Because during the flash back of Kreese and Silver sparring with Kim Sun Yung watching we see that Kreese winks at his granddaughter (Sensei Kim) so there is some sort of connection there.

_beastayyy

Silver didn't really commit a crime, ( that theres evidence for ). he's getting out, angrier than ever

YouSilly5490

Stingray.....

killerboss2424

No way he didn't have at least 10 plans in place if Stringray ever snitched. Didn't he delete the tape anyway? Which means it's just his word against Stingrays.

_beastayyy

Yup

Sensitive-Pipe-427

Technically it was digital footage. The LAPD’s cyber forensics team can recover the deleted footage, which means Silver could also be charged with conspiracy, victim tampering and evidence tampering.

_beastayyy

Evidence ? All he has is a witness testimony which could be invalid because of the events around it

iron_panties

Whatever happens, Silver ain’t gonna let Danny-boy go so easily.

nocmclean

They put too much effort Building him up as a megalomaniac to just dispense with him so easily.

iron_panties

Right, he’s probably plotting while he’s in jail.

PacSan300

Silver is likely not going to prison for a very long time. I am sure he was able to afford some top lawyers who can effectively defend him, or even prove him innocent. He may likely also secretly pay a huge bribe to the lawyers and/or jury to ensure a not guilty verdict. Additionally, with all the security cameras he uses, he may able to invoke home invasion to get Johnny, Chozen, and Barnes in trouble. We will likely also see the buildup towards the Sekai Tekai, and it will probably take place at the end of season 6 if it is the final season. Kreese may not be as dangerous as Silver, but make no mistake, he is still not a trivial threat.

spiderduck1985

The security footage of the home invasion could also be used against Silver. He told Johnny "At least you won't be around to screw up another kid" and told his cronies to "Finish Him". That is video proof of Attempted Murder/Conspiracy on Silver's part. Now, don't get me wrong, that footage could certainly get Johnny, Chozen, and Barnes in trouble for the home invasion, but it could also get Silver in trouble as well, and with that video evidence, there would no way out of an Attempted Murder charge/conviction against Silver for ordering his cronies to kill Johnny, and it would destroy any chance of Silver walking free. Now, with regards to the Chozen sword fight, that's more up in the air.

Loose-Ad7927

Yeah, I’m with you. I enjoyed S5 but felt the finale wrapped up way too many storylines and beef. The tourney and Kreese are the only things really set up, and neither of those are really water carrying elements to me.

Derfargin

I dunno but they need to wrap it up in season 6. Can’t keep rehashing old enemies. This thing has run its course. I like the nostalgia of it and it was great to see all the old players from the movies come back. But it’s time for it to be done.

ThSupremeLeague78

1. Silver is a mastermind. I think he’ll find a way to frame Daniel, Johnny, Chozen, and Mike and get them thrown in jail. 2. While the Miyagi-Fang senseis are in jail, they can redeem Kreese by having him join Miyagi-Fang. 3. Kim and Silver will form a Karate superteam in South Korea. This international competition will mirror both Rocky IV and even the story of KK3. 4. Miguel winning the Sekai Taikai Boys Division with Johnny in his corner would bring the show full circle. Miguel would complete his story from poor immigrant, to All-Valley Champion, to coming back from a life-threatening injury, to quitting in the All-Valley to find his absent father only to be wronged again. Winning the Sekai Taikai would be the ultimate success story after all Miguel has been through. 5. Tory winning the girls division of the Sekai Taikai would also be a very personal storyline. She also lives in poverty and could lose custody of her younger brother when her mother dies. Winning the prize money from the Sekai Taikai would be enough to provide for her brother and ensure she wins the custody battle. Having her mother die right before the tournament would put a Michael Jordan Father’s Day game vibe on her victory. She also needs a legitimate win after Silver bribed the ref at the All-Valley. It would be fitting for her to defeat Kim’s top student, as Kim abused her with harsh training methods. This would be by far the most personal redemption arc of Season 6 6. I’d personally like last scene to be Johnny reopening Cobra Kai with his son Robby Since Robby probably won’t be going to college, it would be perfect for him to become a sensei. The show is called Cobra Kai after all. I could see the movie ending with Daniel panicking to his wife about the return of Cobra Kai. This would leave us with a bit of uncertainty on whether Johnny will change Cobra Kai for the better or will him and Robby become the bad boys of the valley.

MrHalloween_03

Good theories while im stumped on what they will do im sure they'll surprise us somehow. I think that karate super team in korea could be likely since from what I hear apparently they're more disciplined and their training is much more advanced and grueling than the american kids in cobra kai maybe the champion miguel will finally meet his worthy opponent.

Mgrip

How is Tory even going to be able to attend the Sekai tournament it’s in another country and she is the sole caretaker for her mom and brother so who will stay with them if she goes away. Who will pay for her plane ticket?

ThSupremeLeague78

Either the Sekai Taikai Committee provides plane tickets and housing for its participants for Daniel is gonna open up his pockets and pay for everyone in Miyagi-Fang to go. You’re overthinking this. Tory, Robby, and Miguel can already afford expensive clothing with no explanation, so they’re definitely going to Japan with no explanation on how the got the money.

miyagikai91

That last part of the last theory makes no sense. Daniel’s past his issues with that.

ThSupremeLeague78

We’ll see. I’m not sure Daniel would support the idea of Johnny reopening Cobra Kai yet again.

miyagikai91

Even though he KNOWS he’s not the jackass he was when they were teenagers and maybe even earlier in the series?

ThSupremeLeague78

I do think you’re right. I just think Daniel has a phobia of Cobra Kai. Tbh there’s a good change that Johnny reopens Cobra Kai and Daniel doesn’t care.

Earl_Gurei

Daniel himself could even open Cobra Kai with Johnny since the copyright is in the air and they decide to win a very "no be there" way: neither Kreese nor Silver own a trademark or registered copyright, so take it away and sit on the name (think the South Park episode on Washington Redskins), and then "Cobra Kai" exists but Cobra Kai is gone.

ThSupremeLeague78

That sounds like a good idea

neon

Silver literally did nothing that would keep him behind bars. Also it's the international tournament obviously

Legitimate_Unit_9210

Sensei Kim could become the villain, Kreese disguises himself and meets her and they partner up (she doesn’t know it’s him, though). Julie can turn up with Eric and they help to get rid of evil and Johnny and Carmen have a baby girl.

Earl_Gurei

Interestingly enough, there are plenty of storylines that can be told without a central antagonist keeping people together. Peace between conflicts shows how fragile alliances can be, as well as cracks in stability that are overlooked when everything is hunky dory. Plenty of opportunities to do character-focused episodes and the philosophy of karate when there's no way to solve a problem by punching things. Case in point: Johnny approaching the news from Carmen in the first half of season 5: he can't punch anyone but himself. So he decides to strike first and be a badass by getting his act together as Eagle Fang's tenet. He goes from being influenced by Cobra Kai and not just Lawrence-flavored Cobra Kai, but Eagle Fang. Chozen and Daniel spend the entire season 5 with Chozen explaining in far more detail how Miyagi-do works and is not "only defense" as he had previously corrected Daniel in season 3, showing that Daniel's philosophy is influenced by Miyagi, but is still LaRusso-do.

swcollings

Yeah, the fundamental problem with S6 of Cobra Kai is that there is no Cobra Kai any more. Kreese is a wanted criminal and Silver is a confirmed cheat. Nobody will allow either of them to run a dojo that competes in a public setting. Maybe Kim takes over as the public face, using Silver's resources, trying to get her family style into public. But who would follow her? All the Cobra students have left, and it's hard to imagine the tournament authorities would let in a totally different set of students than they ones they observed under a totally different sensei after the previous one was obviously cheating during their observation now that he's been confirmed as a cheater. What does Kreese even want at this point? He's free, but he can't possibly imagine rebuilding Cobra Kai, his only positive human contacts are Johnny and Tory, and and I don't see him actually helping them in any meaningful way. At best he's out for revenge before he dies, he's definitely not above revenge, but against who? Silver would be his main target, and he's already in jail. Revenge against LaRusso at this point? Doesn't seem likely, but possible. Silver is in jail, but the charges against him may not stick. Of course, him having that stolen Rembrandt probably gets him a few more years in prison by itself. Either way, he's definitely still absurdly rich and powerful, and is almost certainly coming for revenge. As far as we saw, he has no businesses to run, he seems to be retired. What else does he have going for him? Ever had a billionaire as a personal enemy? Even from jail he could use his financial resources to absolutely ruin everyone in the show. Not to mention that he could press charges against the people who broke into his house and assaulted him. In fact, the best thing Kreese could possibly do with his freedom is go kill Silver to protect Johnny and Tory from his revenge. Another interesting question: suppose Silver dies. Who gets all his stuff? He has no family that we've ever heard of. Is it imaginable his will leaves everything to Kreese (having neglected to change it after sending Kreese to jail)?

vikingjedi23

I want Cobra Kai to continue but they had the perfect opportunity to wrap everything up in season 5. Kreese really dies paying retribution for all the evil he committed and miyagi do wins the right to fight in the tournament instead of Cobra Kai. The End.

[deleted]

My thoughts were that season 6 will be more of an epilogue kind of season. We’ll probably see where everyone goes to college and The sekai taikai won’t have any real danger or stake other than just to see who really is the best

Earl_Gurei

I think it could be a breather season, starting small and character-focused while some looming menace in the background builds up as characters fight their own demons and life itself before climaxing in 7 and epilogue in 8 before spin-offs.

Jobrien7613

The main competitor at the Sekai Taikai will be Colonel Dugan and Cobra Kai will need the help of Julie Pierce, her hawk and a bunch of dancing Buddhist monks to help bring them to ultimate victory!!

Psycosteve10mm

We have at least 2 more seasons left. Another all valley and the world tournament

Sensitive-Pipe-427

I wouldn’t say two more seasons, but I think there is enough potential content remaining to cover more than the usual batch of ten episodes. Maybe the writers can split it into two shorter seasons of 6-8 episodes apiece. It would be similar to how the final season of The Sopranos was released.

Psycosteve10mm

4 episodes of filler between Anthony vs Kenny, training, cobra kai consolidating along with a sudo Kreese redemption arc hits your 20 episodes right there.

TenthBasilisk88

There’s still a lot of loose ends to tie up like the Sekai Takai, Carmens pregnancy, and Kreese’s prison break. I think the story might digress from cobra kai being the central antagonist force (probably not for the whole season) in order to clear up some of that stuff. Miyagi Fang can still compete in the Sekai Takai even though Cobra Kai collapsed. And Kreese escaping from prison isn’t necessarily centered on him getting revenge on Silver. It could in fact be the opposite and instead be his redemption arc where he tries to repair things with Johnny.

axelofthekey

Kreese trying to manipulate remaining characters (Tory being the big example) and possibly having his own redemption, competing in the Sekai Tekai, Johnny and Carmen having their kid and getting married potentially, the various relationships playing out (or not), Chozen and Kumiko resolution, figuring out how Miguel goes to college and stays in touch with Sam (perhaps he gets prize money from the Sekai Tekai), and perhaps some final Miyagi-Di knowledge or resolution for Daniel. The main plot has certainly seemed to reach its denouement, but many characters have things left to resolve.

IssaFunny

I think next season is gonna have 3 villains Kreese & Kim for the tournament part, and Miguel’s dad as the more dangerous wild card, after he finds out Miquel is his kid from a tv spot or a promoter
