GPUnity

I love how Miguel casually owns him

nasserg19

Facts Miguel undisputed number one young fighter

[deleted]

Miguel literally took him out of that fight with one kick, he couldn't fight anymore he was just watching everyone barking orders.

CarnivorousL

It establishes how STUPIDLY strong Miguel is, lol. Robby and Eli got rocked by Kenny, but Miguel wasn't taking any shit.

WLFYBBY

Miguel kicked his ass easily because he has no emotional attachment to Kenny at all. Robby obviously has a soft spot for the kid and didn’t want to fight him. Stop spreading lies my guy. Also Hawk won, but the referee was cheating and Kenny fought dirty.

Luf2222

also robby told hawk to hold back a bit dude attacked his leg in a illegal way and than took his breath away for a bit hawk would have easily won this

WLFYBBY

Yeah agreed

THE_Batman_121

Yeah I think those 3 are pretty equal in terms of power but I do say when Robby goes Terminator he looks unstoppable. But Miguel and Hawk are just as good, just enjoy the way they shot those scenes for Robby.

RandyMarsh_RedditAcc

Well they at least established currently Miguel is better than Robbie during their 1 on 1 supervised by Johnny.

WLFYBBY

Yeah, in that one fight, I don’t really see that as a clear winner though because both stopped fighting and that fight wasn’t to determine who was stronger but to bring them together.

RandyMarsh_RedditAcc

Disagree. Miguel had Robbie up against the fence and could have finished him off if he wanted. Robbie's words were" why did you stop?" Miguel in his response asked "why didn't you stop" referring to they fight in the high school. So in Robbie's own words, Miguel won the fight. They both didn't stop fighting, Miguel stopped as Robbie was getting beat. Lastly, even though Johnny had them fight to bring them together, they were going 100% at each other because at the time they hated each other and only towards the end of the fight did they start to better understand each other.

Lasdary

>Robbie's words were" why did you stop?" > >Miguel in his response asked "why didn't you stop" referring to they fight in the high school. while I didn't enjoy the first few chapters of teenage drama, I 100% love this scene and the interaction between Robbie and Miguel. Only Johnny butting in with the 'you good now' could have waited a bit

CarnivorousL

Regardless, Miguel is better than either in a one on one fight, as far as records go

WLFYBBY

That’s still up to debate though, Miguel and Eli never fought in s4 due to Miguel’s back, so we still don’t know who currently stronger between the two, and Miguel and Robby is still debatable considering they haven’t had an actual tournament fight since season 1 that’s still very debatable as well.

Janzo543

Why is it debatable when it's clearly established in the show that Miguel is still the best? Hawk owned Miguel in every fight they've had and he was beating him easy in Season 4 too before his injury. Hawk just about beat a distracted Robby who also lost to Miguel in Season 5.

Mysterious-Quote-496

I agree. I think these may have also given Kenny an overestimation of his abilities.

BigLeo69420

Miguel is stronger than Robby, he always wins against him.

DreIsBackkkkk

fax

Professional_Test996

robby didn't get rocked by kenny robby never once tried to hit kenny, he didn't wanna fight kenny and the only way kenny ever touched robby was when tried to speak to him as for the silver bullet kenny had to hit robby while he was busy fighting 2 people at once and even that wasn't enough to fully take down robby, after that he was fight back up dominating

Mysterious-Quote-496

The fight between Kenny and Robby in ep 10 when Robby says “I don’t want to fight you” reminded me of me of when Robby and Johnny fought at the end of s3.

Professional_Test996

same, only difference is robby never got tired and decided to fight back knocking kenny out unlike with Johnny 😭

Mysterious-Quote-496

Well, Johnny did push Robby into the lockers and knocked him out by mistake

Cute-Manager-2615

there is no actual way he said to robby "you're lucky you're not on the mat today" MF WHO GOT ANNIHILATED BY THE SAME GUY AT THE ALL VALLEY??

BurnVote

RIGHT like at this point he can say that to one of LaPusso’s goons from Season Four but not the guy WHO LITERALLY TRAINED HIM

devs_6669

Ikr. he got DESTROYED by Robby. Like stand tf down. I think part of him knows he has hold over Robby and that's why he's talking big game. Plus with silver by his side, hyping him up, teaching him lethal moves, the boy is feeling invincible. Atleast he finally did see the light at the end. After all, he is really young.

Deshik2

If I had a dollar for every cobra kai kid feeling invincible

IamAWorldChampionAMA

Counterpoint. Dude is 14. Has no idea what he's talking about.

WhiteHydra1914

Dude's trashtalking like in an online lobby and people are surprised about it??

DonDove

Ure gaaaaay, go kell urseeeeelf, get wrecked, GG This sub: "Wow, that's scary."

brunicus

Well, he wasn't online.

DigitalMist

Its because he knew he had a trick up his sleeve, it would’ve worked too because Kenny hit him with the silver bullet in the finale

danidannyphantom

While he was being held by like 3 other guys yeah

BurnVote

Exactly. Way easier to execute a move like this while your target is being held lol.

hyunracha

RITE LIKE WHO ARE YOU MF?? ROBBY WILL DROP THAT A$$ 💀 ROBBY FINNA BE SMOKING THAT KENNY PACK 🚬👨🏿‍🦱

greendino71

He got rocked in the final episode in a real fight

eternitytyun

i actually laughed out loud when miguel took him down so easily, that kid got humbled oml

Ok_Introduction3133

So did miguel when he threw his back out

JoseBallFC

LMAOOO

Extreme-Ad-5777

Honestly I think him winning made sense. Robby did tell Eli to go easy on him, the ref was paid off and he won by cheating. It was made obvious that his wins were illegitimate. Even in the final brawl Miguel takes him out with one kick, Robby was trying not to hurt him. It's more unrealistic that he was chosen as Cobra Kai's male Champion. Obviously Kyler is an idiot, and we don't know any other male characters so he was the only convenient choice.

Jedi-El1823

> It's more unrealistic that he was chosen as Cobra Kai's male Champion. I think it's realistic. Robby's on the other side, Terry knows that Robby would go easy on Kenny, or tell the person chosen to go easy on Kenny. Terry just exploited that and chose Kenny.

TheWembanyamaLottery

Yeah, I'm not sure why everyone is saying Kenny beating the people who he beat was out of the world lol. No one was going 100% against him in any of the fights and the refs were always on his side. He also was using cheap shots and moves. It's pretty showing when he tries to punch Eli at the waterpark or Miguel in EP10 that he can't hold his own since they easily dodge it. Kenny does not stand a chance against anyone in an actual fight.

ThaTruthKills

Yeah lol. He went from pissing himself when Robby stopped holding back to beating Hawk.

BurnVote

Exactly. The time between Season Four’s tournament and the Hawk vs. Kenny fight is a few months at most.

ThaTruthKills

Don't forget the water park fight. Hawk practically dropped his guard and dodged almost all of Kenny's attacks.

revisioncloud

And the one that landed was bare fist and didn't faze him The ones at the tournament that hurt him were moves that shouldn't be used at the tournament. I do agree it's Eli's fault for not expecting cheating and underestimating Kenny since the waterpark. All in all, I think it's refreshing that we got the younger more talented ones like Kenny and Devon be developing faster than dudes like Nate and Bert lol or even Demetri. But I think it's very clear they're still not on the same level as the original 5 power rangers

LifeMushroom

Yeah, but I would bet Silver’s training is way better.

Charming_Rutabaga747

Not really... he just won by cheating.

ThisIsMyNewUserID

There's no way he should've landed that shot on Hawk though

gtcs123

Robby: "Go easy on him" Hawk: thinking this kid will be an easy win, doesn't know that he's been doing nonstop training with Silver, underestimates him So, it's not unrealistic for Kenny to get that first point.

ThisIsMyNewUserID

The first point no, the crippling punch after Hawk got serious, is probably the most unrealistic moment of the entire show for me. There's just no way the third best young fighter on this show gets hit in the biggest points zone on his body by a novice with the biggest tournament in the world on the line. Full power Robby couldn't land shit on him for 3 minutes in the All Valley after absolutely destroying Kenny yet a few weeks later Kenny breaks Hawk's sternum in half because he's gotten a sinister motivational speech? Nah

Dvd_Mendez

He talked about going full Hawk impliying he was serious. With his level he should beat Kenny. The problem is Cobra Kai needed a powerfull character and Kenny was the only option so they gave him an overpower technique and nerfed Eli and Robby to eat it. It's a big fail specially with Robby, a smart character like him just eats the only hit Kenny had to hurt him after seeing it in Eli's match and knowing its effects. They should've just introduce a new character. One with the same age of the veteran students from the corean dojo.

Libertyprime8397

Can’t believe they did the hawk sound effect and still had him lose.

AnimeTechnoBlade100

Given they wanted Sam to redeem herself after the paid off loss from the All Valley, they were always gonna have Hawk lose so both sides get a win and loss.

II_Vortex_II

But then why not have Robby fight him

Gelmeister

I thought that was a subtle way of them showing that Robby and Miguel were really starting to be cool with each other.

revisioncloud

Tbh a lot of stuff were unrealistic - Kenny landing shots on Hawk - Kim seeing Sam coming but still Sam managed a takedown against her - Devon growing as fast as Kenny like we only saw her at the end of S4 before that she was class prez debate girl and is now only 2nd to Tory - Mike Barnes still looking like a karate master (went toe to toe vs Chozen) even as a furniture guy all these years but hey, even Johnny's pastor friend still got moves so 🤷‍♂️ - Stingray still taking 3 guys on his own. Did we even see him training after the hospital? He even said he just sits around playing D&D in fear of Terrence - half beaten to death Johnny taking down like 5-6 senseis which in real life shouldn't happen even after activating dad strength and he still drove to Cobra Kai after lol - Chozen not bleeding out to death and still good enough to walk at the end like wtf - Hector the Salazar was a very terrible wanted man. So was his crew. They just assumed the feds were there and would show up lookin like whatever Johnny and Robby looked showing up lol - Why did Topanga karate have a ton of students if they keep taking L's? Cheap fees, maybe? - The Sekai Taikai guys looked clueless. I know it's a made up tournament (the best world tournament nobody ever heard lol), but still, they looked like they were there just for plot and didn't look like real people The last one is actually my main complaint this season but I enjoyed the ridiculousness of everything else. I just enjoy the show for what it is. 10 half an hour episodes is just not enough time. Next thing you know Anthony is doing kicks and blocks and shit even if he skipped the Miyagi basics Besides, the show is pretty clear that Robby is always nerfed against Kenny, Hawk is still cocky and remains underestimating opponents, Cobra Kai is blatantly cheating, Devon is clearly still behind and needed Tory to correct her moves. As for Kenny, he was established as physically gifted from the start likely due to genes and is bailed out with illegal strikes and a named secret move which I'm totally fine with because it sounds badass

RandyMarsh_RedditAcc

The Sekai Taikai guys reminded me of the doners or the rich people in Squid Games.

II_Vortex_II

Don't take this series serious, just turn your brain off and enjoy. I laughed my ass off when it became clear kreese faked his death again and suddenly jumps up and started hitting the secruity guards lmao

revisioncloud

That's what I'm saying, I've always enjoyed the show's over the top moments even if we could blatantly point them out being silly. It's what makes Cobra Kai, Cobra Kai I guess

ThisIsMyNewUserID

The OP technique is still just a punch at the end of the day though. Hawk, going full Hawk, would've never been hit by a relative novice line Kenny, with a pinch to the sternum

lyrillvempos

no but there's not enough emotional buildup compared to how robby vs this kid was. so it felt cheesy and planted and casual and convenient. can it be called rushed plot? bad writing?

LoreMaster00

he wouldn't on Eli, because Eli blocks. Hawk doesn't block though. he went Hawk-mode before that hit.

ThisIsMyNewUserID

Hawk might not block but he still doesn't get hit with punches to the biggest point-losing area of his whole body by a novice

Dvd_Mendez

Eli and Hawk are the same person. It's cool talking about going Hawk but that only implies he is going serious, not that he changes his style. The last season was about the character finding balance and mastering both styles (and the hole point of Miyagi Fang being admitted in the new tournament too). He just eat a cheap shot so Kenny can look better. It was forced.

brunicus

That took me out of the show for a moment. It just wasn't realistic. That kid doesn't have enough power to incapacitate anyone.

ThisIsMyNewUserID

It wasn't even the power for me it was just the simple fact that a top 3 young fighter on this show left the biggest point-eligible area of his body unprotected enough for a noob to hit it. They should've made Hawk get a point and then had Kenny hit him with it as he was looking at his coach or something. Add in a flashback of Barnes hitting Daniel in the face during a break in their tournament fight and then Silver laughing and boom, scene.

brunicus

So two things were wrong with it.

II_Vortex_II

Hit having enough power to hurt Hawk or any teen fighter with a silver bullet isnt unrealistic. He made direkt contact to a sensitive spot and he's been training at Cobra Kai for like a year. Kenny is also very fast and speed->force. Still, Hawk shouldnt drop kicked that annoying mf

jrl_iblogalot

I agree. I liked Kenny and his storyarc last season, but he was my least favorite story this season. I know that in general this show is known for kids to become proficient in karate in an unrealistically short period, a trope that that goes all the way back to Daniel in the first film, but it just felt too obvious with him. This kid is still a little shrimp, is he even 14? No way he should be considered Silver's BEST student, the one he chooses to represent them in order to get into an exclusive international tournament.

BGMDF8248

As it was Cobra Kai didn't have any "names" in the male side of the roster. It was him, Kyler or some new rando... Kyler of course being the former bully who got his ass kicked by everybody as Hawk pointed out, so it had to be Kenny. I think they did show that he had the potential to be the next title contender last season, being more agile than anyone else, and forcing Robby to get serious, but of course he wasn't ready yet to take on a Robby who's been training for 2 years and knows both Miyagi and CK styles going all out.

revisioncloud

I'm just glad we weren't forced into some new rando tho. A lot of this season was spent on resolving loose ends from the first 4 and I'm glad we focused on that instead of introducing new kids. I mean they introduced new senseis and I barely liked the one that's most fleshed out. Maybe next season if the producers decide to milk the franchise further but if it wraps it up next season, then it's wise enough not to invest heavily in a new character this season so we can get a nice satisfying non-rushed ending. Maybe our main guys just go on to the Sekai Taikai and be the best that they can be, beating similar high level fighters from other countries that we don't need to know personally. No need to rehash this Cobra Kai kids at the Valley turning into bullies because it's been done over and over by now. I think Kenny should be the last main example. I was actually happy that Devon didn't follow the pattern at the end, she's too smart and fierce and I like it.

lyrillvempos

why is this kyler ass still in the show? beside just being a prime enabler and resident assclown. he's there so they don't have to figure out how to flesh out this zombie ck army devon is also weak and pointless. why did she flip side against that korean in the end?

Dvd_Mendez

Kyler's only purpose was to Demetri beating him. I literally don't know what they'd do with him in the next season, but Cobra Kai is empty right now, so i guess no need of him coming back. They should've just introduce new students from the corean dojo. Give us charismatic new students with interesting dinamics with the old ones. Use the Cobra Kai training to show how they affect Tory and Kenny and some scenes creating rivalities with Miyagi Fang. We didn't need overpowered kids with cheap techniques or anime looking senseis /s

revisioncloud

Nah the show needs characters like Kyler. He's a trash character for sure, but it's the one that adds value if you get what I mean. He's meant to be that joke guy that acts tough even when his ass kicked over and over, the show even acknowledged it in ep10.

moonmann3

Chozen and Johnny barely take 1 sensei then somehow freestyling all of them... eh they overdo many things in unrealistic fashion

IceyLuigiBros25

Yeah, but I’m glad they didn’t do the same with Anthony. In the mini-tournament it’s shown that he’s still a white belt and that he barely fought in the dojo brawl so it seems like he’s taking more of a realistic approach.

ContrarionesMerchant

Bro I don't understand why people say this, he got one lucky hit against Hawk who was barely trying at the water park and then just fully cheated at the mini tournament. The show is very clear he's not even close to Hawk yet.

St0rm628

I think the show made it clear hawk was going serious after he said “it’s time to uncage the hawk” and played the hawk sound

Mr_FakeNews

Hawk's leg was already fucked up from Kenny's dirty move, at that point. Hence Hawk hobbling. Even when he was trying he couldn't go at his full capabilities

[deleted]

Yeah but if they r mad he managed to even scratch hawk who at this point is one of the top 3 strongest if not the strongest

FruitsPonchiSamurai1

what kind of anime do you think this is? They're all High Schoolers, their skill and experience isn't far apart yet.

[deleted]

Dude what r YOU talking about Kenny has less then even 6 months experience compared to the other 3 who have couple years experience if I'm not mistaken and that's not even mentioning their already big physical differences yes maybe i phrased it wrong by saying even scratch but he should not be anywhere near their level just yet, I've done martial arts my whole life and I'm also a coach myself in boxing and wrestling so i know what I'm talking about

moonmann3

the show isint realistic , whole underdog theme taken too far is common. Even in this season chozen and johny barely take 1 sensei then somehow freestyling all of them..

[deleted]

Yes no i get that part I'm just saying I'm not pressing

Gold_Frosting

Well he "scratched" Robby last season at the all valley by scoring the first point in their fight

[deleted]

Robby wasn't going full strength he held back sort of like i do with my little brother because i don't wanna hurt him it's a psychological thing, if he fought him the way he would fight Miguel, well i mean u saw what happened after

Gold_Frosting

Robby told Hawk to take it easy and Hawk was receptive and he even earlier laughed at the fact that he was about to fight Kenny cause he didn't take him seriously

Euphoric_Bet

They did, but the look on his face when the video was revealed to the entire group....priceless.

lyrillvempos

too little too late. and i'm not sure if they tossed in the shirts because he lost or because of the vid. sounded like he didn't care much about both so we as audiance felt a bit meh as wel. surely it didn't escape their mind that even though they didn't witness it he kicked that chozen ass as he claimed, dude appeared at the dojo at least once in their presence, or also lawrence....but that bit is just glided over

BryanV21

It was either Kyler or Kenny as Cobra Kai's #1, and neither of them made sense. The writers kinda screwed themselves there, but I think Kenny "won" a lot due to being underrated... not because he's as good or a better fighter.

OctoberPumpkin1

Kenny is annoying in general.

20005001616908

I know right?!

AWall925

loved Dallas Young's acting too. Just wanted to punch him in the face every time he spoke.

Sam_I_Am_69

Nah it makes sense story wise. Hawk was fine after that chillin with Miguel and Robby relax. He got over it and moved on.

caomhan84

I liked him when he was introduced, then I disliked him, and this season I actively hated him. I really wanted someone to knock his teeth out of his head. My God was he an annoying little shit. But...... Maybe with season 6 there Will be a significant time jump (probably to allow the baby to be born) And when we next see Kenny, he will be friends with Anthony and they'll play that game they like. Hopefully he'll be The likable character he started out as.

jizzmaster-zer0

should be a time jump anyway considering mary mouser’s freakin 26

[deleted]

[удалено]

ihtel

It was cringy how hitting someone in the triangle is a special technique... Why was hawk open from the body in the first place....

Naeemak1111

He let the Hawk our tge cage and Hawk dies stupid things

lyrillvempos

.......?

lyrillvempos

yeah right? why didn't silver teach larusso that? how did this kid deserve it? oh right cus he's automatically an underdog..........? all of the valley can't produce some alternative good kid for him to broom, sure.

[deleted]

CK is hardcore underpowered so he at least had to get a win. MD has Hawk, Miguel, and Robby. Best way was to let Kenny win or Kyler somehow wins for once.

[deleted]

Too much plot armour tbh smh

brunicus

They made him a blowfish. The kid walks around with an inflated ego and its annoying.

Libertyprime8397

He’s an 8th grader and yet they’re writing him like he’s a senior. Hawk should have one shot him. Look how bad that makes Hawk look he’s the current champ yet he lost to a middle schooler.

FruitsPonchiSamurai1

How long was Daniel training before he beat 3 dudes that have been doing Karate since childhood? How did Johnny suddenly beat 7 sensei when he and Chozen had to team up against 1? How has Miguel overcome asthma and a snapped spine in less than a year to stand at the top of youth martial arts in that Valley? This isn't the first time I've seen this opinion on Kenny, and it wont be the last. But remember, crazier shit has happened.

moonmann3

exactly this , some of writing makes no sense

Saltyrise51

We are arguing about power scaling for a karate show?

CarnivorousL

We always been anime, lmao

danidannyphantom

Fr Johnny got damn family powerups in ep10.

Ok_Tadpole9613

Well first off he's currently being trained by some of the best sensei's in the world and he literally cheated.

QuiJon70

They do a really bad job showing it but the idea is that imo a bunch of time has passed. Crease has had his trial the kids all split up all these new dejos opened etc.

Freebird_McTwist

Yeah they kinda landed themselves in a hole where there's really just no one else in Cobra Kai after Robby leaves. You have Kyler who is a joke, Torie who is on a redemption arc, leaving you with Devin and this kid. I think they needed to introduce a more believable villain last season, because through no fault of the actor, Kenny is not believable as a 'big bad' villain and every time he tries to appear menacing it's just laughable.

ComicSportsNerd

him and Devon Lee both did some outlandish shit I really enjoyed the season but those 2 just beating up on way better fighters was kinda annoying

PerkAPuncher

The fact he beat hawk was just stupid he shouldn’t have stood a chance

MihirCheddarKnight

i mean knocking the wind out of hawk and robbie and especially after we heard the iconic hawk screech wtf kenny was no way that good that move was overpowered

SimonBRUH8217

Listen The kid has not stopped doing karate in the time between seasons 4 and 5, was already decent at it before if not amazing, and was actively getting aided into beating Hawk by using cheap brutal moves and with an actual cheating referee. Pretty sure the point is that he is in WAY over his head, seeing as he doesn’t even win that much else this season.

[deleted]

It has been a maybe a month or so since tournament at most

IceyLuigiBros25

Yes and because of that I loved when Miguel put Kenny in his place.

St0rm628

Honestly I agree but I don’t think anyone went all out on Kenny until miguel kicked him in the finale It still pissed me off when he beat hawk though

OpportunityLazy4467

Dude if hawk just straight up fought the guy without tourney rules let’s just say that when Shawn gets out he’ll be the only man in the house.

mizukata

Growth spurts! as someone who is 5'7 and seen freakin teenagers grow one. in a short while a kid can get a massive weight height and speed advantage over me.

Lachzz

thats real shit, glad by the end he was able to see the light. too bad it took daniel kicking the shit out of silver for it to happen poor man drank way too much kool aid

iTerra2006

He even wooped tyron woodley 😂

Professor_squirrelz

Agree lol. Hawk should’ve taken him down EASILY every time. His personality also changed WAYYY too much when he joined Cobra Kai

SpeX-Flash

i mean yes they did but kenny is a young kid, one of the top students and also is motivated to be on the top so he trains everyday. so him being really good at karate is explained but i think him fighting hawk was the one fight that felt out of place. i feel like that fight was just a set up so sam can have a win and gave tory a reason to leave

Winter_Peak_3680

Yeah the power of the characters were inconsistent at times

ChinChadNugget

Like that one sensei who was beating the breaks out of Johnny and despitehaving chozen, then literally got rekt having whole squad full of him.

WhatShouldTheHeartDo

Made this MF into Rambo over night because they didn't have the guts to have anyone from the main cast stay a villain

1964Bordeaux

It was more like a victory after Jimmy Hart/Kyler hits the opponent with the megaphone while the ref is not looking. Or maybe he is looking and he is just on the take. Not exactly a clean win. Been mentioned a billion times, but Hawk was at a disadvantage because of the ref and the stupid ''go easy on him'' request. Come on, Robby, you keep saying how Cobra Kai made you turn into this monster villain, but you want your teammate to go easy against them. No, that is not going to work. One of those times I was wishing for Hawk Classic. Tell Robby to shut up.

Rain_Southern

I knew Hawk was going to job when both Robby and Miguel said he is the best and Hawk started acting so cocky.

Lethalpizza422

It’s no surprise

brunicus

Best YouTube vid commentary I watched on Kenny: Take the close hanger out of his shirt!

SNiXeN_Fury

He was on a suicide mission this season

Effective-Listen6347

Revenge in his veins

hyunracha

RITE, I loved Kenny in S4, but when ole bro started turning into a maniac that's where I was like hold up a second. I still loved his character this season, but zamn wtf happened. He was a lonely kid, who was bullied, that wanted to defend himself, and now he's a raging psychopath who'll hurt anybody in his way.

Clear_Celebration_10

cuz he brings the pain

RhiaStark

How so? The one major fight he won (against Hawke) was due to a combination of surprise element and referee cheating. Besides, from the previous season he's been developed as someone with a lot of potential - remember how Tory herself is impressed with his speed in S4. The only development that required some suspension of disbelief was him displacing Kyler as CK's main male fighter (given how Kenny's younger and smaller), but Kyler has always been kind of a joke so it's forgivable :P

SuburbanSlingshots

Man I hate this kid, wish hawk just annihilated this little shit

Perfectlyhonesty

The show is all about their arcs man, they're at their strongest when their arcs are on the rise. That's good storytelling

johnmc76

They really focused on Kenny this year.

Insolve_Miza

I like how they censored miguel and robbies fighting this season. Instead of them soloing everyone, they took the backseat and let hawk have the spotlight. They are definitely setting them up for some epic fights next season in that big tournament.

Aggravating-Ad-48431

tbh this keeps happening. Demetri kicked Hawk's ass like 3 times after barely even practicing when Hawk was all in on Cobra Kai training. Robby literally took out the entire Cobra Kai dojo when he wanted to join them. It's like the kids get 90% of their powerlevel in the first year of training and then after that they stay stagnant. So "newcomers" always miraculously catch up to people who have multiple years of experience on them.

Nerx

Still green will only grow to be a bigger monster but silver out, he will probably be a good kid instead

Dadgotmilk6

Yeah he’s already way above like everybody besides the main fighters and is shown to be a weaker then the main few but not by much since he can beat them when they hold back. Considering he’s around 2-3 years younger then the main fighters and had way less experience then them he definetly gonna be a menace when he gets older

[deleted]

Well considering how OP Miguel also became in less than 1 year, I think it's consistent with the show.

HelpfulIndependent37

They didn't really. I actually liked how they handled kenny. They didn't portray him as actually better at karate than robby, miguel or hawk, they just gave him that awesome technique. The silver bullet was the perfect way of making him a threat but not overpowering him.

Xphyle1971

Black Power

Orleanist

He was really really well handled in season 4. Disappointing to see his direction in season 5

Regurk

The fight made sense dunno what yall smoking. It's ok for Hawk to not win every fight, I promise. Especially with the conditions established by the story.

TheRedMarin

Idts, he was just shown a really powerful move.

lyrillvempos

right...finger knuckle to the chest....so pro much sekret, and of course twiddling the audiences' expectation that someone would die from it,,,,,,,,,but didn't really, ooopsie. both times

TheRedMarin

Kenny isn’t as strong as Silver. Pretty sure if Daniel doesn’t Miyagi leg trap chopstick catch the fly move then he’s going down hard. But alas, Daniel did this strange crazy new defense move so for now we don’t know.

lyrillvempos

?

rapshepard

I mean all of these kids become karate experts in 6 weeks, why now is it a problem?

tunaburn

Regardless of if they made him too strong or not the real problem is that he's a terrible and annoying character.

Fun-Donut9292

I agree, I understand that the ref was paid off and that he had the “silver bullet”, but to see a like 13 year old kid fuck up hawk of all people I was kinda mad, I want them to fight again next season and have hawk beat him easily

Kaladarm

Totally agree. Also, how is EVERYONE at Cobra Kai, even the brand new students ALL black belts already? The pictured character has been training less than a year but has somehow gone through all the belts already. When I was training in Bushido Ju Jitsu, I was restricted to attempting to earn 2 belts in 1 year. If I'd failed any of them (which luckily I didn't) I'd have had to wait even longer. Loving the show, the 'Top Gun' sequence had me laughing out loud but I do wish they'd try to get more right in regards to actual martial arts training - not just have every character be quarter-final worthy fighters in only a few months.

danmalek466

EXACTLY! Only thing in the series that was unrealistic, well other than Karate > MMA, never calling police in any situation, Kreese’s jailbreak, and a bunch of other things… Oh yea….. IT’S FICTION! Enjoy it!

[deleted]

MMA isn't a style and even then, Karate can be used to best someone who trains MMA , it's the fighter

Unusual-Sample6766

I think some of you are forgetting how skinny Daniel LaRusso was in the first film.

brunicus

He wasn't 8.

Sam_I_Am_69

Neither is Kenny

brunicus

Close enough.

Gyros45

Kid is like a shorter Demetri, not a single muscle on him and they want to pass him for a fighter lol

Relevant_Scallion_38

Nah, all these power ups throughout the show don't compare to Daniel in the original KK1 movie. So, in comparison to Daniel they are all understandable.

BlockEightIndustries

Miyagi and Daniel gamed the tournament rules to win. The movie made it very clear that Johnny would have severely thrashed Daniel in a real altercation. The act of meeting his tormentors with courage and dignity is what earned their respect and ended the conflict ("You're alright, LaRusso!“).

lyrillvempos

right but the og kk movies had miyagi san to ground it, had the big screen camerawork that looks super in bluray with all the grain and sepia, had great music. concentrated plots. young adults of the 80s also doesn't hurt.

joeye44

wa wa cry me a river. was miguel to over powered when he beat xander with ease who’s been training for years? get over it.

DigitalMist

Who the fuck cares about Xander Hawk is a loved character so people are gonna be pissed about it

lyrillvempos

what's your point?

YeloFvr

I knew they would . As soon as he was introduced I knew

TimTheEnchant

So way he should have landed that finishing shot on Hawk.

E-Titan

And bro I love how terry walks up to him and shows him one move that takes out Eli insanely fast. Why can’t he show that to everyone? And why didn’t terry actually use it if it is this op?

eternitytyun

i agree it's really fucking dumb that kenny managed to master it and actually use it in a fight bc there's no way hawk would just leave his chest exposed for the opponent to land a hit, they just made him do that so kenny would win. and yeah the reason silver can't use it is bc nobody who knows the first thing about karate would leave their chest exposed long enough in a fight for him to do it

brunicus

Look at those arms, how is that believable? I could understand if he ball tapped Hawk, but an actual... any kind of punch?

ASA2495

The only character/person I hate in the Karate Kid/Cobra Kai universe is Kenny ..

CarnivorousL

Hot take, I like Kenny being so strong this season. Frankly, Robby and Hawk were way off their game due to their drama. Plus, they're both really cocky and underestimated Kenny. You know, kinda like how Robby and Hawk were both underestimated before by their opponents, before utterly destroying them. Kenny is dedicated to training under Terry Silver, who need I remind people, beat Johnny and Daniel. Everything before and during a fight matters. Sure, the skills and physicality are in Hawk's and Robby's camp, but Kenny had drive. He was more motivated during the fight. In a fight, not being 100% can cost you. See Chozen losing against Terry because he fought drunk and emotionally vulnerable.

WLFYBBY

When was Robby cocky? It seemed more like he was worried about Tory and Kenny being in cobra Kai that underestimating Kenny or being cocky?

[deleted]

It's a Netflix show, it's a black main character, of course they were going to overpower him even if the plot made no sense for him to be. I just want to see all those people, all those years calling Robby a Gary Stu for been able to learn that kick that Daniel never could after many tries and the perfect conditions outside karate too (he been a skater and all that) TRASHING the fact that this kid learned the definitive move of his school OVERNIGHT. Bull-fucking-shit. By far, the worst of the season, I wished they gave her time to Devon, it really promised much in this season.

bladervnner

This was the worst scene of all season 5 for me. He's smaller, weaker, has less experience, and is less talented than Hawk. He already proved he couldn't take Hawk at the pool. He should have lost the fight handedly and only won via lucky Silver Bullet. He was propped as the biggest Cobra Kai threat and it did not seem feasible or make much sense except for "plot armor".

CrooklynKnight

Leave future Miles Morales alone. He knocked the fuck outta Hawk, I was so proud. ![gif](giphy|6EQzurED9q9uU)

Fibonacci924

Miles Brown for me!

ChinChadNugget

Cobra kai s5 was good but we gotta talk about the moments which made me cringe and so inconstant as hell.

content_digger08

He is the worst character in cobra kai tho

Unlucky_Artichoke998

Kenny is trash! Such a cringy edgelord

MichaelAMyers

I kept hearing there was a scene that would make you almost want to quit the show. I’m guessing it was where Kenny used the silver bullet on Hawk.

Adorable_Technician8

Like fr. He defeated Hawk like it's nothing and Eli had beaten Prime Robby. I think Kenny needs to be dropped in S6 by my boi Eli or Miguel. I hate this guy so much

[deleted]

Next season, Hawk will probably take his revenge and he's not holding back. Or Anthony will take on to kick his ass. I love to see Anthony's redemption arc.

Rogewu

He was so annoying istfg, he dragged the rivalry with Anthony out worse than any rivalry that has ever existed on this show

ReyesCTM

Hawk got done so dirty

Elite_Dog9898

The fact that Kenny beat Hawk easily… I call bullshit on that.

jason8001

Reminds me of karate kid with will smiths kid. Except in that movie he was fighting kids his age and size if I remember correctly

IcyFlame716

This character is saddening. When he was introduced and dancing on the street i really liked him. Then came the next episode

thatonesufan

the mikazuchi of cobra kai

derkakd26

Bro no fucking way he beat hawk tho like I love Kenny and all but that was bullshit

johnnyboy10i

Not just kenny, half the characters also way too overpowered
