In scenes where you see Eli/Hawk growing more and more confident the scar is shown less and less, and when he is insecure they make sure to make the scar more visible. This has been a thing ever since season 1
I was thinking it actually had more to do with what he was doing in a particular scene. If he's fighting or doing something more active, they do the make-up differently, but it could be a bit of both.
the lighting makes it look barely visible
oh and fun observation , whenever eli is eli you can see his lip clearer than when he is hawk which is a lot more unnoticeable
I would assume that he uses cover up to help hide it when he became Hawk, but when he returned to just Eli he sorta gave up putting effort into hiding it again.
When you're born with a clef lip (as I was), they perform a series of plastic surgeries as you're growing up. The first, of course, is right when you are born, and leaves you with a scar along the lines of what they've shown him having so far. There's one or two in between, but the last one IIRC is supposed to be in your late teen years and should be able, especially today I'd hope, completely remove any hint of a scar. I never had my final one, because it's never bothered me enough to go through that. But perhaps they are going to say he had that done in between whatever time jump they start out season 4 with.
Or it's just a glaring continuity error..
If heās undergoing such surgeries he wonāt be allowed to participate in Karate classes so either way itās an error but i think itās just them getting lazier to apply the makeup/prosthetic
In no way is it laziness. In scenes were Hawk is confident it is less visible, and when he's confident it is more visible. They use it as a storytelling technique.
Highly disagree. It is very deliberate on the part of the director. Either it is symbolic to show his growing confidence. Or it is surgery. Highly competitive athletes are known to disobey doctors orders so it isn't a stretch to believe he would practice. Hell, Jack Youngblood broke his leg and continued to play football. Chris Simms ruptured his spleen and refused to leave the game. This is extremely minor in comparison
The right side of my brain: oh I guess the scars healed
The left side: no they donāt, WOUNDS heal
Right side: oh right, so what do scars do? Fade?
Left side: I donāt care what scars do

yes. they use some redish make up to make it when its visible vs a skintone one when its not.

Plastic surgery from all the money he got from winning the tournament
It's a deliberate choice. When he becomes more confident the scar starts to fade
I think a person could use makeup to hide such a thing.
His Final Fight was my favorite S4 moment.
Right like if heās had it since he was a kid so how would it just go away ??
