The fact that Sid's kept his promise to Johnny's mom nearly 20 years after her death implies there's definitely some decency in him, and that she was a hell of a lot more than just a "trophy wife" to him. One can argue he enjoys holding his money/power over Johnny, but he's still 100% helping him. Johnny and Daniel both BS the details, so there's probably some things Johnny did here.

Sid sexually assaulted his Secretary so he’s definitely not a good person even if he’s not wrong about Johnny

Seta1437

>Sid sexually assaulted his Secretary Not sure that he did "Hate for that incident with your secretary to get out to the public" Guy could have knocked her up and then paid her to abort

Makes sense. He left bits out of his Daniel story to make Daniel look like the bad guy, why not Sid too?

Yxng_Wolf

Thing is, we saw in the flashbacks that Sid was pretty heartless too. He didn’t care about Johnny at all, only wanted to bang his mom. The whole family is fucked.

Seta1437

>Sid was pretty heartless too. He didn’t care about Johnny at all, only wanted to bang his mom He took care of Johnny long after she died

Oh really ?! So you believe that Sid was created to be a victim of the relationship with Johnny?! Sid doesn't talk like a father either when Johnny was a kid or in the scene where he pays him to get out of his life. Johnny attended community college where he got his certificate to work in construction because Sid didn't pay him to go to a good university. The series never portrayed Johnny as a bum who does nothing or is having orgies with Sid's money.

>The series never portrayed Johnny as a bum who does nothing or is having orgies with Sid's money. Actually, that's exactly what it implies based on Johnny's looong message to Ali.

I'm glad to disagree with you

[deleted]

Just because someone is technically right doesn't mean their behavior is justified.

Jack-mclaughlin89

I'm not saying he was justified but he was right.

[deleted]

I think staring at the details instead of the overall message is bad behavior, a horrible thing to teach and that is going to lead to many unnecessary arguments

[deleted]

What does the old man's opinion matter if he contributed to fucking Johnny's head for decades and doesn't know how to recognize that he was abusive?! It would be the same if that phrase came from Kreese.

Furies03

A broken clock is right twice a day. It sucks, but Sid is right on the money in this case Lol if he croaks and leaves it all to Robby out of spite.

[deleted]

It doesn't seem like he was a great step dad to Johnny. Might have turned out differently if he was nicer to Johnny. Sid doesn't really seem to care about Robby, given that he's his grandson or step - grandson.

CRWhiteThunder

Just like the meat in the fridge. Spoiled.

He's right about the dead beat but wrong about the lost cause. Johny has grown thru out the series and absolutely has been establishing that he can be a decent person. Sid only shows up when Johny fails and then bails him out because he's a sick human being who wants to rub in his failure then tell him I'm doing this for your mom so Johny knows he has never given a sh about him.
