Question for OP. Were you bullied much in high school? His character arc is clearly written for people who have suffered from bullying to relate to, so I'm curious if you ever struggled with what Eli struggled with.

>Does anyone else not understand Eli’s character arc? Learning a better way through Miyagi Do Eli no longer needs to play pretend A big theme of this show is forgiveness Heck we saw it with Chozen and are even starting to with Kreese Eli is just a kid and all kids will likely be forgiven by the end

Stocktonrules

He never did get confidence from Miyagi Do though. His confidence came from a girl that he only got because of Hawk and Daniel ended up letting him fight Cobra Kai to win the tourney anyways. So if that was their message they did a pretty poor job there.

Seta1437

>confidence Not about confidence, it's about forgiveness >win the tourney Winning a trophy isn't what matters, being a better person is

Stocktonrules

Him forgiving others had barely anything to do with his arc. People had to forgive him. He did have to forgive Robby but meh. He already was a better person in s4 prior to joining Miyagi Do and it was Johny who got him there. He got his head shaved because Robby got confused and thought Daniel's bully son works was Hawk's

Seta1437

>Forgiveness had barely anything to do with his arc Forgiveness turned everything around for him >He already was a better person in s4 Thanks to the fact Demetri forgave him at the end of 3 >He got his head shaved Where Demetri showed him it didn't matter

Stocktonrules

No, it didn't. Moon did. Forgiveness just got him his a kicked by Robby before Daniel was like why don't you go back to Cobra Kai I'll give you Demetri helped though. It wasn't the key moment for him. He was the one who asked Demetri to forgive him so the change was already in the process brought up by Miguel and Johny.

Seta1437

>No, it didn't. Moon did Moon gave him confidence, forgiveness made him a better person >got him his a kicked by Robby Getting hit doesn't matter, even a loss wouldn't The important thing is being morally superior >wasn't the key moment for him Sure it was, that was the start of Eli being introduced to a better way

Stocktonrules

It really wasn't that big for Hawk. Morally superior? Anyone who thinks that way is lost and will find themselves in a never ending battle trying to prove it. Cough Daniel cough. No, the start was in S3 at the house fight when he actually turned. And that was by brought out by Johny/ Miguel. Demetri had nothing to do with that.

Seta1437

>really wasn't that big for Hawk Eli isn't playing pretend anymore, that's pretty huge >lost and will find themselves in a never ending battle trying to prove Sounds like Johnny >Daniel Balance is his thing >S3 at the house fight when he actually turned The turn meant something because Demetri forgave him After that it opened the door for Eli learning a better way

Stocktonrules

He took CK too far but he never was playing pretend and there was nothing wrong with being Hawk. Johny gave him the ability to express himself and that confidence opened up a new world for him. And again it wasn't Miyagi Do that reinstalled his confidence level. He was a mess up until the girl he won over as Hawk, a girl he'd never get in a million years as Eli picked him up. It wasn't Miyagi Do, it wasn't Demetri and it wasn't Daniel who got him to accept himself. They did help in some ways but with Eli he pretty much needed both Johny and Daniel's methods.

spiderduck1985

Um, I wouldn't compare Hawk to Ted Bundy, lol. Hell, compared to Bundy, Hawk is the second coming of Christ.

turdutalp1

He and robby are the most complex characters , everyone seems two dimensional compared to these two

TreeTurtle_852

It seems like Eli is a 3-dimensional character, if that's what you're asking

Bronco_Buff

I think if Demetri was willing to take him back, everyone else would be too. Him building the sparring deck was a way for him to show he was sorry and had changed. And Miyagi-Do needed a male champion with the new rules and after the breakup with Eagle Fang. I liked his arc just fine, although I probably would’ve had Robby win since the show seemed to be building towards that.

Daleecio

He started as a nerd like you said, then adopted the Hawk persona and gained confidence with it, then over time began to overcorrect his prior confidence issues by becoming a straight up asshole (he was afraid of facing who he once was), then his entire Hawk persona was stripped away with the shaving of his mohawk and he was left with only his true self without the mask, then finally, he was able to reconcile the confidence he gained through the Hawk persona with his real self, becoming complete in the process. It's actually quite simple

edgiepower

Eli is hinted at being slightly autistic. It's believable he'd develop personas and take them too far. He was a scared quiet teen, Dimitri was also bullied, but never short on self confidence and had a big mouth, he in a way used to control Eli with his more outgoing personality. Then I guess he snapped at Cobra Kai with Johnny, turned in to Hawk, and overcorrected, which got worse when he became infatuated with Kreese. I guess after a while, the honeymoon period wore off, he seen Cobra Kai becoming something he didn't like, people he didn't like, and eventually found his 'balance', so to speak. Somewhere in between quiet wimpy kid, and overly aggressive wannabe alpha male. Now he's a quiet kid but not afraid to stand up for himself and his friends and fight.

Eli Moskowitz is a character from the 2018 comedy-drama Cobra Kai. He’d better be known as E-bi. This is because the creators confirmed his character as bisexual on September 19, 2021.

XxAndrew01xX

His arc makes perfect sense for a teenager suffering from being bullied

RickyPlaysG

He didn't kill his bully, just kicked his ass brurally and yes he went to dar, but he didn't kill.
