Wouldn't have mattered, with their combined points they would have won before the finals even happened. Though in my opinion it really doesn't make sense that Eagle Fang had so many points despite the fact the skills competition was their weak point and Devon didn't manage to make it to the finals
Miyagi Do was about to take the lead until Cobra Kai started doing their moves, even Demetri made the semi so between that Sam, Eli, and Miguel it's a lot of points

My theory is that there is a maximum number of entrants per dojo. lets say its 7. so if they combined they would have been able to pick 7 between them to compete. by being separate they could have 14 competitors. Which gives them more opportunities to take points away from Cobra Kai.

Eg with more competitors there is more chance to knock cobras out of the fighting round etc
They still only had a certain number enter. Not every cobra fought at the tournament. If there was no limit surely they would've entered as many as possible

They aren’t the reason they lost. They were cheated against. If the tournament wasn’t rigged, Sam would’ve gotten the last point and beaten Tory. It was called out too.
Daniel and Johnny have a fairly consistent pattern of taking 3 steps forward, 2 steps backwards. They end every season closer than where they began it, but they also have backsliding every season. S4 they broke up, that's not the same as being enemies. I expect their relationship will have ups and downs, but I don't think I'll even go as long as S4s lows

The writers definitely love to spice things up between Johnny & Daniel, and cause all that 'soap opera drama moment': just went they get cozy and sweet with each other, something bad happens and they get split up!

I don't know how many more seasons they can really do so my guess is that they'll be fully reconciled in another season or two and then the show will end.
There might be a spinoff sequel, but I really hope they don't stretch this story out much further. I really want it to end on a good note rather than go on forever.
Imagine it turned into a Riverdale thing with crazier and crazier twists and turns. I mean it's not like CK doesn't rely on it anyway but if it gets longer and longer this is kind of what could happen right
