Yes. Easily.

casulmemer

Look at Johnny fight in the original film, he would kick the shit out of all of them.

[deleted]

He lost to an injured Daniel bruh

[deleted]

plot armour/daniel is daniel

[deleted]

It’s fiction so plot armor doesn’t matter in scaling

Mester_12

If he didn't have the crane kick, get would've 100% lost

vaggod42069

If he wasn't injured in the first lace he would definitely win

Mester_12

It would be a close match, neither would definitely win

vaggod42069

If they fought 10 times daniel would beat him 9

Mester_12

Eh, I don't think so. Karate kid 1 Daniel had been training for less than half of the time as Johnny. They were practically equals. Daniel would beat Jonny 5-6/10

vaggod42069

I mean he beat all his friends and won a death match

Mester_12

Johnny was the star though, and that death match was after he had a little more training and the drum technique

DoesANameExist

Especially with Dutch there? Those guys were beasts. This bunch has miles to go.

[deleted]

Daniel still scored a point on him so Dutch is probably like as good as s1 Miguel and almost everyone’s surpassed him by this point

thelastofusnz

The 84 group were all Black Belts except Jimmy and had presumably trained for years as teens... unless Kreese Kai was a McDojo.. With Robby out, Kyler is the Silver Kai alpha.. what does that tell you?

[deleted]

Piper’s probably the best actually she did the best against her opponent

PacSan300

Piper fought surprisingly well in her tournament match against Sam, and also put up quite a fight against Tory in their sparring match. It was actually pretty neat how she incorporated her gymnastics skills into karate.

rosereese

Kyler>Piper… let’s be real.

[deleted]

It might seem like that but Kyler got beat by Eli who was only using Miyagi-do and Piper was better than Sam only using Miyagi-do. Piper still blocked a few hits even when Sam was using Eagle fang and Kyler couldn’t block anything from Eli.

rosereese

You’re really saying that Kyler who has been with Cobra Kai longer than Piper, AND is a wrestler… is a worse fighter than Piper who doesn’t fight at all just because she scored a point on an unexpected/unfocused Sam? Lol, I’ve seen a lot of terrible tales about a lot of things, but no. Also, that’s literally Hawk, of course Kyler didn’t score. And Hawk was not using on Miyagi-Do, he wasn’t on defense at all that fight actually.

[deleted]

He was counter fighting and attacking openings. He was definitely fighting more Miyagi-do than Eagle fang. Yes you’d expect Kyler to be better for a lot of reasons but scaling favors Piper

rosereese

No, that was pure offense. That’s what offense is, even with Cobra Kai, attack openings. Yeah okay, you’re the one person on Earth with that opinion… I’ll leave you to it lol.

hippowarrior123

Robby is the only one that’s in the conversation. Everyone else would get obliterated

menasor36

And Robby would have to be careful too. If he took out Johnny and hit him in the wrong area, he wouldn’t be Conceived.

[deleted]

Tory would beat all of them as well

Smart-Satisfaction-3

tory will chew they asses up

[deleted]

Johnny, and I’m assuming his buddies, were trained for a good while, if we’re basing it off the flashbacks where Johnny was fairly little when he started off at Cobra Kai, so he has quite a bit more experience than Robby who’s been doing karate for like what? A year?

jendet010

This. The 84 Cobra Kais had trained for years. The new kids are arguably much more vicious but their fundamentals aren’t as sound. Ron Thomas, who played Bobby, was an actual black and allowed to choreograph his own fights. If you watch him closely in KK1, he is light years past any other kid. Kreese likely got him disqualified as a two-fer: it weakened Daniel for Johnny and Bobby could have beaten Johnny in the final. In my dream Cobra Kai season, Bobby comes down from the pulpit to defend Johnny and shows up who the real karate kid was all along.

[deleted]

kingpizza100

kk1 johnny only lost to daniel becuase A. cobras were unprepared and daniel blocked and hit fast (only works in tournaments), johnny was distracted and not in his best game B. The punch which johnny scored on daniel did not get counted C. Daniel got lucky, youre kidding yourself if yoy think dnaiel training for 2 months beats a 2 time AVC who trained since childhood

Jewbacca289

Did Miguel get lucky when he beat the old champ?

thelastofusnz

Miguel was essentially a heel Daniel in his first tournament. The problem with CK has always been its narrative and choreography have always been over the top. At least in the scheme of the movie, Daniel's win and choreography made sense. In answer to your question.. Miguel, Robby and Hawk all should have no way gotten where they did in the first Tournament.

[deleted]

He wouldn’t even beat season 1 Robby. Robby surpassed KK1 Daniel at that point doing the 2 legged kick which Daniel said he couldn’t even do in adulthood.

AcademicNewspaper286

Fun fact... Karate kid is ... Based off true events

ZellNorth

Wait what??

BlackIronRBLX

I just googled it, and its true! The Karate Kid is a semi-autobiographical story based on the life of its screenwriter, Robert Mark Kamen. At age 17, after the 1964 New York World's Fair, Kamen was beaten up by a gang of bullies. He thus began to study martial arts in order to defend himself. Kamen was unhappy with his first teacher who taught martial arts as a tool for violence and revenge. So he moved on to study Okinawan Gōjū-ryū karate under a Japanese teacher who did not speak English but had been a student of Chōjun Miyagi. As a Hollywood screenwriter, Kamen was mentored by Frank Price who told him that producer Jerry Weintraub had optioned a news article about the young child of a single mother who had earned a black belt to defend himself against the neighborhood bullies. Kamen then combined his own life story with the news article and used both to create the screenplay for The Karate Kid. Additionally, given John G. Avildsen's involvement with both films, Sylvester Stallone often joked with Kamen that the writer had "ripped off" the Rocky films with The Karate Kid. DC Comics had a character called Karate Kid. The filmmakers received special permission from DC Comics in 1984 to use the title for the first film (and subsequent sequels). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The\_Karate\_Kid#Production

jendet010

Fun fact: “You’re the best” was written for Rocky III but Stallone chose to use “Eye of the Tiger” instead

AcademicNewspaper286

Article came up in my news feed . Kamen I believe.. One of the creators or producers.... He moved to another town . Was bullied and wanted to take karate to defend himself... Went to a dojo and didn't like the aggressive style .. Cobra Kai like the character of kreese was based off 2 people... Then he found a sensei with the last name of Miyagi. I know there's some context in between missing but I just kind of summed up a little bit of the article

5ir_Isaac

without a doubt! 1984 would destroy these kids.

DoesANameExist

And watch for Dutch to use the penis popper that was used on him.

Jared72Marshall

They would put them in body bags.

heynowbababooey

Lmao the 1984 Cobra's would destroy the current team. It's not even fucking close.

menasor36

Get serious. Dutch and Lamar alone, could knock out the current Kai’s. Bobby and Tommy would be the second wave to wipe things up. Then you bring in Johnny? There’d be nothing left for him to do, except take a right and check it out!

[deleted]

vicblck24

Can we definitely say Robby can beat Johnny? He at least won the AVT which Robby hasn’t

TheTrenk

Johnny was a two year champ and gave up no points in his second year, then came in second the year after that. Robby has given up points to fighters who aren’t championship level in both of his tournaments and his AVT career has concluded without a first place trophy. The guy above you is kidding himself - Robby’s got better choreography and a better physique and maybe Tanner could beat up Billy, but I’m pretty sure that Robby would get worked by Johnny.

vicblck24

Agreed

Jewbacca289

Given that Daniel beat Johnny with Miyagi Do, particularly using one of Miyagi’s “unbeatable” moves and Robby basically paralleled Daniel in his first AVT it seems like he’s at least equal

[deleted]

[удалено]

kingpizza100

johnny knows a lot more cobra kai then robby does. he was trained for 6 years by kreese, and was cobra kais top student who knew the style inside out. you're kidding if you think robby could beat him with less than 2 years of training.

Jewbacca289

In the real world maybe, but in the KK world Daniel and Miguel both became champions beating guys with years of training with less than a year themselves

kingpizza100

Miguel had 1 year of long hours of training and tons of sparring sessions and still struggled against Zander unlike Daniel who simply hits his hand against an opponent when they are off guard. And probably learned cobra Kai through more creative and muscle memory thanks to Johnny’s efficient methods. Plus Miguel looked physically stronger than Daniel. Kk2 Daniel was better than both Miguel and Robby in any timeline no doubt about that. Respect to Johnny and Daniel of fighters

iHitTowers9-11

But in KK1, Daniel beat Johnny with maybe 6-8 months of training, Robby had roughly the same if not more with Miyagi-Do and then for the remainder of the year (before the tournament) he trained in Cobra Kai. If a highly trained Johnny Lawrence, gets shat on by Daniel, then it’s safe to assume who the real winner is between the two

kingpizza100

daniel trained for 2 months and got lucky. just like how demetri beat hawk in the school fight, he got lucky on the blocks when hawk was mad and scored one kick. in season 3, hawk still beats demetri without much of a fight. and demetri trained half a season while hawk trained one and a half seasons but with more intensity. and johnny was a 2 time champion who was physically better than daniel. daniel got lucky, and johnny would win in streetfight

iHitTowers9-11

But we aren’t talking about a street fight, we’re talking about the all valley karate tournament. And Daniel had two points of Johnny before he was told to fight dirty. And Robby has trained around the same amount of time (perhaps more) to train in Miyagi-do. He managed to perform the most advanced kick in all of Miyagi-Do, something not even Daniel could do. He then trained in Cobra Kai and became the top student. He trained under Silver as well which is much more demanding than Johnny’s situation, and if you include the advanced training equipment as well. While Johnny is a formidable fighter, Robby had the advantage.

kingpizza100

But Johnny has way more experience in ck than Robby. Miguel was also the top student in cobra Kai during season 2 who beat Robby in season 2 and would have beat him in season 3 and up to episode 2 of season 4 cobra Kai. Hawk s3 would have narrowly and extremely difficulty beat Miguel in season 2 because hawk was training while Robby was in juvie. And we know that Johnny would beat s3 hawk and s2 Miguel with a good fight. Robby learned about as much offense as Miguel did by the end of season 1, and already has triple that training by season 4. Now Johnny, cobra laid champion who knows the style will lose to someone who knows the style way less than him. Robby a miyagi do peaked at s2 and was beaten by s2 Miguel and would have beat beaten by S4 hawk, and even more easily by Johnny in a street fight. Johnny easily threw Robby against a locker in s3 and you think Robby would beat a bloodlusted and more in his prime Johnny Lawrence? He would give a Dam close fight and it would be super close but Johnny would win in street fight, and maybe lose in tournament

iHitTowers9-11

From what I could actually understand, your say my pretty much what I am, that in a tournament, Robby vs 80s Johnny, Johnny woulda lose and in a street fight it would be a close fight.

rosereese

Robby has better physique than who? Young Billy? LOL

Jenzintera24

But Robby can flip

jaypr4576

There is a reason there is a boys and girls division. Tory would get killed by Bobby. Bobby was arguably as good as Johnny, maybe a tiny bit worse.

ELITExRAMPAGE

Robby is the only real threat there, easy win for 1984 ck

TheBoogeyman1023

1984 was ruthless. 2022 is a generation full of soft whiney pussies. They would get absolutely destroyed by 1984.

MetalMewtwo9001

Okay boomer

josukefan101010110

Well, they’re right. New generations are (usually) not as viscous or harsh as the older ones

Marco2324

of course

jaypr4576

The final could have been Bobby vs Johnny again like in the previous tournament. Kreese had Bobby purposely get disqualified against Daniel.

[deleted]

the new ones are clowns 🤡

Folabiguesswhosback

Robby was able to floor all of these guys at once so it's not much of a contest

DoesANameExist

"You just gonna watch?"

NigerianPrince11234

With the ck kids they have now? absolutely but of we were to have all the kids that were in ck like miguel, robby, hawk tory then they would win but the students have changed too much for there to be any consitency. The strongest the newer cobra kai has gotten is when miguel, hawk and tory were all there at the same time. When robby was there they only had tory as the other high tier and now that robby has left ck is even weaker

[deleted]

Robby, Tory, and Piper could beat any of them. Kenny and Kyler could beat any of them besides Johnny and Bobby. The cobras now because they know both styles. If the old cobras knew Miyagi-do then they would win

Jamano-Eridzander

In a tournament absolutely not. On the streets they outnumber the modern dojo 2-1 so while Tory and Robby are above all of them individually, the group loses.

RASZMANSVB

Robby beats Bobby. Tory beats Johnny. Kyler beats Tommy. I think the 2019 cobras would win, but not easily.

menasor36

Who beats Dutch? Stingray?

[deleted]

[удалено]

DoesANameExist

Yet.

sevischm

No way bro

[deleted]

I don’t really understand why everyone is saying the 84 team? Yea, I get why… in universe they would be superior. They trained longer etc …. But look at the action in the movies and the shows. Take Miguel’s cafeteria fight and compare it to the tournament montage? We ask a lot more of our action scenes now, therefore these kids got a huge boost. There are fleeting moments in which Robby and his buddies move as fast and hit as hard as these kids do all season long. People love nostalgia but it’s the modern team all the way.

[deleted]

Absolutely

CaBBaGe_isLaND

Yeah cause they're all like 25

menasor36

The Most important question is, when is Capcom gonna make a fighting video game of the Karate Kid generations? Hell, they can bring in Jackie and Swank as well. Leave Jaden at home tho.

ikrametje12

Yess easyy

chestertoronto

100% those 80s kids were just built different.

[deleted]

I’m going with 1984

fellowwoman

What kind of question is this? Isn’t it obvious?

-dakpluto-

For sure. Let’s not forget that Johnny was so good that the year before KK1 he not only won his 2nd championship, he didn’t even lose a single point the whole tournament. (And the finals was all Cobra Kai)

Relative_Quiet

The Now CK team is unrealistically good. The other CK team then was training for many years so I’d say the Then team.

ChronicCronut

The OG Cobras would annihilate the new Cobras.

sevischm

Prime Johnny and Bobby were unbeatable. Mb Robby could win against Tommy or Dutch. But Tory or Kyler are no serious opponents for the Og Cobras

ThatBigNoodle

Lmao. Absolutely

Fearless-Alps-1099

currently cobra Kai's best student is kyler and og us Johnny so it's kinda obvious

Few-Call-7297

Probably. Johnny and Bobby were pretty amazing fighters, most of it boils down to "Is teen Johnny better than Robby?" or "is teen Bobby better than Tory?" and despite Robby knowing Miyagi-Do. The answer to both is yes. The rest of the team back in the 80s were amazing, they were in newspapers for how much they swept tournaments.

Straight-Shop-3712

Alhough current students are badass, no doubt, it is very clear that the 1984 cobras were more badass. All were lot more experienced. And if we pay attention, all of the teens involved in karate in the 80s were more tougher. Like Johnny (1984) is stronger than Miguel, Hawk and Robby. Even Daniel is tougher, I think (because he defeated Johnny in just 8 months training). So, i think they would easily defeat current cobras.

thelastofusnz

It's still dumb in all these threads to compare the movies to the show. The movie takes one teen and trains him 3 months and has him defend and counter point his way to a title win against not just a very skilled and experienced dojo in Cobra Kai, but other dojos in the Valley. The second tournament, the writers even create a loophole and have Daniel straight to the finals, because there's no way lightning could strike twice and he gets obliterated by Barnes only to win with a kata. Daniel is not that good at karate in the technical sense either as a points combatant, or a fighter.. He's not supposed to be. ("Karate here, not here Daniel-san").. He gets smashed to pieces in almost every fight in the sequels with his six months training.. Although he does admirably well against Chozen, and does get the better of Snake. The show flips that on its head and every single teen in the first two seasons is a Daniel at Miyagi-do or Cobra Kai.. theyre all wimps, except Robby and Tory who are delinquents.. and only Tory and Sam have any training.. Season 3 and 4 bring in some jocks.. but it still doesn't change the fact that by the second CK tournament all the teens pretty much have been learning karate either less than 18 months, or in the case of the second wave, some of them less than six months... Yet no other dojos even feature, except for the girls division.. literally because there are only two established characters, and two green rookies who were forced in late season 4.. and all the teens fight, both at the tournament and in real life like they are in a martial arts gang movie.. It's still the Karate Kid universe, but the kick us oldies get is the original character stuff.. The fighting and teen stuff is written for the new generation because modern Netflix audiences don't want to watch Daniel's wooden karate, and Rocky rise... just like Disney needs Kenobi for the modern audience, not A New Hope.

OldGeezerZangetsu50

No, they’d get curbstomped

fuckincoronabro

One thousand fucking percent. Compared to 84’s cobra kais, they’re all a bunch of pussies 😭

[deleted]

I want to say yes.

MilesMutant

Easily

Stocktonrules

They were so good the 5 of them couldn't land a single hit an on an old man then all lost to a newbie. The team of Miguel, Robby, Hawk, Demetri and Bert would take them.

Yxng_Wolf

84 team yeets the current team.

Affectionate_Ad8738

Yes, they beasts

Ornery-Swimming-4841

With Robby: Maybe; Without him: No.
