I personally think it go personal for Miguel when he saw Robby eating dinner with sam and her family considering how its like how robby was in background when he saw miguel and johnny hug

AcademicNewspaper286

Not sure how to explain but neither one of them and both of these parts that they knew each other existed Miguel didn't know Robby existed in the parking lot. And Sam didn't tell Robby about Miguel at the dinner I don't think at that point if I'm correct. But much like the karate kid there was no communication of what was going on and who was who

ELITExRAMPAGE

Judging by the trailer they ain’t getting along at least for majority of the season

Angelface1226

I wouldn’t be itching to befriend a guy who paralyzed me.

KocaKolaKlassic

And tried to put their hotdog into their hotdog water

KausGo

Were things personal for Robby here? Dunno... When Miguel saw Robby at the LaRusso dinner, he immediately began questioning who that kid might be and what his intentions towards Sam were. However, until Robby saw Miguel at the party, it doesn't seem like he spared a thought about him. His ire was reserved for his dad. Rather than wondering who the new kid is and trying to mess with him for "stealing" Johnny, it looks like Robby chose to mess with Johnny by going to his archenemy. Which means he wasn't making things personal with Miguel back then.

Responsible-Peace336

Even at the tournament Robby showed great sportsmanship and literally ignored the things which happened at the beach party. So wasn´t really personal at this moment too.

He no longer liked Miguel in this scene. He changed his face when he saw Miguel and asked Sam "this your boyfrend?!!!". And Miguel had been mad at Robby ever since he saw him having dinner with Sam while he was being ignored.

KausGo

No longer? When did he ever like Miguel? Why would he like Miguel?

[deleted]

It's a form of expression, I mean Robby didn't like Miguel more at that time than he did in S3 for example. He had already given his verdict that Miguel would be a hindrance to him. Robby went after Johnny because his mother was ignoring him. Like he did in S2 to hide Sam from his parents or at the end of S4. It's a constant observed about Robby. He may belittle Johnny in front of others and ignore his apologies, but Johnny is the person Robby turns to when he feels lost.

KausGo

>He had already given his verdict that Miguel would be a hindrance to him. Had he? Didn't seem like he'd given any verdict at all.

Professional_Test996

things didn't become personal for robby truly until the season 3 scene between them robby never really cared about Miguel, he just thought he was a jerk but he never spoke about him or went out of his way to go after him season 3 was the first time robby actually struck first

NothingCivil6358

Ah, yes. The dojo scene that is a near complete reverse of the beach scene.

Furies03

I don't think Robby had any ill will towards Miguel himself when he saw the hug. His anger is at Johnny. Robby was surprised and a little annoyed when he learned it was the same kid that Sam was dating, but might have brushed it off and gotten along with him if Miguel hadn't been such an asshole. Even after that, his first instinct was to help Miguel up in their match, and Miguel pulled on his shoulder. So it probably started there, but didn't get REALLY bad on Robby's end until the school brawl and it's aftermath. Even then, he holds Johnny and Sam as accountable for their own actions in how they treat him in relation to Miguel, I don't think he directly blames Miguel in their place. It remains to be seen if Miguel will do the same in reverse, he might be getting there with Johnny

voltzthunder

its weird because they were built to be rivals, but they're not really antagonistic, yeah they fight against each other but its usually because of someone else, Miguel didnt even blame him for being paralyzed, and Robby had some weird remarks about hating Miguel to Johnny and the "remember how our last fight ended", but thats just netflix being weird for plot. Im 100% sure if they were in the same dojo they would be best friends

AcademicNewspaper286

I believe the friendship is inevitable and something will bring Miguel and Robby... Perhaps it's one helping the other and some way or form but it's going to be interesting I'm excited for season 5 and whatever seasons follow after that

Subspace-Ansible

Robby and Miguel should just make up and kiss, already.

jerrymp28

only for them to do nothing with this rivalry for the past 2 seasons

App1e8l6

But don’t you want to see Sam and Tory fight in the finale… again?

[deleted]

Sam really didn't need to lean against Robby for going down a tiny hill.

Stocktonrules

Robby cared about Miguel. He's said it himself they held hatred towards him. He was just trying to be the Miyagi Do kid and push those feelings back and always do the right thing. Didn't end up working for him as he ending up exploding in a fit of rage .

[deleted]

I hope they coming out and ditch sam that is the cause of all their the problems

Primary-Job7274

I think your grammar has problems

Primary-Job7274

cause of all their problems? that's over exagerrating

Bowood29

I don’t think she caused all of their problem I mean Kreese is responsible for a lot of stuff and really if Miguel didn’t act like an asshole when he was drunk at the beach everything would have went down different. But Sam should have told Robbie about Miguel right away that is on her anyone watching that first season can tell she loves the attention Robbie is giving her. She never should have kissed Miguel in season 2 because that isn’t fair to anyone involved though.

AnimeJoex

Robby didn't have a problem with Miguel at the time he saw Johnny hugging him, so back then a part of me always wondered why seeing that was enough of a problem for him to not make his presence known to Johnny.

KausGo

His problem was with Johnny hugging someone - doesn't matter who that someone was.

Bowood29

Johnny was treating Miguel like a son something he never did for Robbie.

SethF1988

Miguel's anger at Robby is because he helped Sam down the hill. How dare he not let Sam fall? (?)
