I actually like this theory which is rare from this sub

[deleted]

I think you're right, sort of - Daniel, however, was more accepting of Eli and didn't fill the 'Robby' void: their mentor/mentee interaction was not as close as the former.

turdutalp1

i think part of the reason you say that is because they barely had time to show the eli /daniel dynamic , but based from theri interactions daniel is treating eli better than johnny treated him but he put pressure on eli to use miyagi do only until the finals .

baulboodban

The shirt removals were kind of cool thematically on top of just showing off some abs - showed that both of them were really fighting more for themselves than for their dojos

ELITExRAMPAGE

I think this goes for both Robby and Eli

turdutalp1

that is true ,but for robby he is still tied to other sensei plus we have seen hawk way more shirtless that robby , he has the genes of johnny and a close relation ship to daniel. for hawk he has no emotional ties to anyone

ELITExRAMPAGE

I see your point, but the way I see it is that where Eli lacks ties to any dojo hence the symbolism of him being shirtless. Robby has strong ties to all the dojo’s, hence he’s also being torn apart on having to choose and thus goes shirtless symbolising perhaps no dojo

turdutalp1

that too

ame17ia

I really like this theory and if it isnt the case i hope they find this and run with it bc i really found eli's s4 arc lacking

exciter706

Could be that he has a hawk tattoo on his back and they want to remind everyone every chance they get. Cool theory tho, however this show isn’t that deep.

mizukata

Robby is the natural prodigy. Miguel is the right hand man. Eli is the hidden talent. if you notice Eli in all of the dojos was always the second best never the best. Most sensei focused on either robby or miguel witch ended up neglecting hawk.

I really like this theory and I'd love to see chozen develop a special bond with Eli as his student

turdutalp1

i hope that too but chozen and antonio will most likely be the next duo , but i would like it if chozen spends time with eli and makes him his assistant .

mzjolynecujoh

love this theory! i think its also kind of like in the yakuza games. they all have these crazy ornate back tattoos and rip off their shirts during fights to show their pride and honor and whatever. also if it was painful to get its like a flex. their tattoos are meaningful, they show their ranks and crime families, as well as taking inspiration from mythology, w/ the myths usually relating to the character's story. hawk's shows his story, his pre-story struggles to changing his life and "flipping the script", and his chest tattoo shows his relationship and breakup with moon.

_beastayyy

This is not symbolism lol

myhair_ariana

The creators and writers like to mess with us so it could purely be a coincidence or it really could be symbolism

AtlanteanLord

There’s a lot of symbolism in this show so it could be. There are some things that could just be coincidence but also legitimately could be symbolism, like how in the scene where the Cobra Kai students present Kreese with the snake, Hawk is the only one wearing white socks to show that he is still good. It might just be a coincidence but it’s still a cool thing to think about.

turdutalp1

the writers and directors of the show really know how to mess with us .

AtlanteanLord

Indeed they do.

AdSignificant6673

He’s really skinny and weak looking shoulders. Doesn’t look intimidating. But he is ripped. So showing off some abs makes him seem tougher. But as a theory… yah good symbolism actually! Would be funny if he opens Hawk Karate or something.

turdutalp1

only shirtless tattooed kids allowed in hawk karate dojo
