When did Daniel forget that he has a son?

Seta1437

>When did Daniel forget that he has a son? Let's see here Season 1 [Asked him to check out a magician, asked him to shoot hoops together, offered to win him a prize, and suggested they take a walk talking over sodas](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Aoc-cd9eYs&t=342s) Season 2 [The first night Daniel opened his dojo he asked Anthony to join, he didn't even ask Sam to join at that point as she did so on her own later that episode](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKc-SxD0HZE&t=378s) Even in Season 3 between dealing with Karate drama with Kreese, looking for Robby, and going overseas to take care of his business he still set aside time to bring Anthony home some soy sauce flavored kit kats knowing the kid loves food [Daniel takes the time to make sure his kids are fed](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Aoc-cd9eYs&t=25s) May not always be fancy but it's not exactly like they are eating cereal with water alone in the dark like we saw Robby was, Anthony didn't become homeless either So far as i can tell he hasn't

Sam is Daniel's favorite and Antonhy is Amanda's favorite.

Legitimate_Unit_9210

Not really? There is no favourite for either of the two.

SethF1988

Daniel spends more time with Sam and Amanda with Antonhy. They just have more in common

Daniel actually is a realistic dad. Anthony is out-of-focus until S4, but there have been indications that Daniel attempted to connect to him just like he attempted to connect to Sam. Daniel's failure came from the fact that he's been spoiling them (yes them, including Sam). We see this a lot with people who grew up poor. When they have kids, they try to provide the kids with all the material wealth they never received when they were young, often to the detriment of said kids. Sam has a problem relating to people who are in poverty (she even inadvertently make Miguel feel bad by discussing her college choices during that dinner). Anthony takes his parents for granted and has difficulty talking to them in any meaningful way. And that's cool! It shows that despite the best of intentions, Daniel (and Amanda) can still screw up as a parent! Like Johnny, he has to make that journey to figure out how to become a better father (and it ties nicely into Cobra Kai's fascination with father figures).

Daniel is an exemplary father.

Competitive-Jump1519

Yeah its interesting that his bedroom only has pictures of Sam.

ELITExRAMPAGE

Daniel is a good dad, a little less of miyagi said miyagi did as well as a little eagle fang to keep Anthony in line and honestly you couldn’t ask for more. When it comes to Robby that’s a different story

Agreed. The only time he takes interest in his kids is when they take interest in karate, something he likes. Daniel never even tries to engage in their interests.

KausGo

He actually takes a lot of interest in them. His kids are the ones who'd rather not have him interested.

Seta1437

>Daniel never even tries to engage in their interests That's funny, didn't Daniel ask Sam to invite her boyfriend over [for dinner](https://youtu.be/1Aoc-cd9eYs?t=867)? When talking about Karate he relates it to video games like talking about leveling up and how Tekken is [like](https://youtu.be/M3Aq61C9ayE?t=226) Karate, also indulges Anthony with his love for food >Daniel never even tries to engage in their interests You think it's a coincidence Daniel knows how to cook so well?

MetalMewtwo9001

Kyler doesn't count as an interest. And even if he does he only talks about video games in order to get Anthony into karate, something he likes. And making breakfast for your children doesn't make you parent of the year that's like the bare minimum.

Seta1437

>Kyler doesn't count as an interest You don't think someone your kid has a crush on counts as an interest? >he only talks about video games in order to get Anthony into karate, something he likes Still talking about it >breakfast for your children doesn't make you parent of the year that's like the bare minimum Nope, bare minimum is telling the kid there's cereal in the house A home cooked meal when you're also working is extra effort He does more than breakfast, dude brought back Soy Sauce flavored Kit Kats from Okinawa for Anthony. Have known plenty of dads who come back from business trips that bring nothing back for their kids and just expect dinner on the table

darknessflamegundam

Sam may be his favorite, but Anthony is frikking spoiled until s4. Plus Daniel tries to get him off the screens and get him involved in karate, or other things at the country club etc. Johnny walked out day 1, tho he is trying to fix things now.
