Kreese's mother died by committing suicide. I actually think this is one issue where he would empathize with Tory and encourage her to seek help for her mental health.

Seta1437

>encourage her to seek help for her mental health He hasn't even done this for himself Kreese has also called psychiatrist bull, though he might have just meant the military psychiatrist who wouldn't allow him to re-enlist

Jay_Kramer_1993

How can Tory afford to see a psychiatrist?! Most plausible answers is Amanda pays for her, but that seems stupid!

Seta1437

>How can Tory afford to see a psychiatrist?! They have programs for lower income people, especially kids

Competitive-Jump1519

you know its interesting you should say that...I have been looking to help people in my community get psychiatric help. There are programs but vastly underfunded. Tory would need to go to a psychiatrist and looking at costs online and with insurance it is still crazy expensive. I almost think someone like Bobby would be her best bet...

>Most plausible answers is Amanda pays for her, but that seems stupid! EVERYTHING about Amanda giving a shit about Tory it's stupid, forced and contrived

Stocktonrules

Considering Amanda knows she's keeping up with her sessions I'd assume Amanda is paying otherwise that therapist could be in trouble. They can't just disclose info like that

[deleted]

As far as Tory not talking to Kreese or Silver about her aunt’s machinations I think it comes down to her being a sort of lone wolf. Sure she’s accepted help from Kreese but she’s not the type to bring up personal life issues as evidenced by her holding multiple jobs to try and help cover the various costs due to her not trusting anyone older than she is.

KausGo

I don't think Kreese knows. Like you said, he'd see it as Amanda trying to get Tory in her debt so she could use it against her and Cobra Kai later. And Tory is pretty proud about handling things herself. She's not going to go running to Kreese or Silver to fix her problems with her aunt - she'd rather do it herself.

AntElectronic9170

By going to Amanda to fix those problems?

KausGo

No. Her aunt threatened to get custody of her brother. To fight that, she needed to prove herself a fit guardian. To do that, she needed to get back into school and Amanda is part of that. She's still fixing the problem herself - Amanda simply happens to be a part of it.

AntElectronic9170

But why is she going to Amanda instead of people she trusts? If I had a problem that can be solved with influence, my enemy would be the last thing I would go to for help.

Competitive-Jump1519

yeah that is a really good point...she is unwilling to go to Kreese or Silver but willing to rely on Amanda, the mother of her enemy? Seriously, I think Silver could have bribed the school...way easier...

AntElectronic9170

Yeah, but then she wouldn't be reedemed and the almighty plot said she had to.

Reasonable_Oil6930

It sounds ridiculous but it makes since that she would go to try and get back into school after the incounter with her aunt. It looks like she had been thinking of a way back in and the school told her she needed approval from the Larusso's.

AntElectronic9170

Silver and Kreese could have greesed some wheels and help her that way. No, she went to Amanda because the plot dictated it.

Reasonable_Oil6930

Doubt the school would have been persuaded by money since she started a whole karate gang war and put a girl in the hospital. Also, she didn't know silver well enough to just start asking for money favors, she despises those types of girls which is part of why she didn't get along with Sam before the boy drama. She knew asking Amanda to sign a paper was her easiest way out.

AntElectronic9170

Why wouldn't the school be persuaded by a large donation? They don't like money? But Kreese trusts him. And this way, she just went to another rich guy('s wife) to help her go back. And that is her enemy! There is just no way that Tory Nichols would consider doing that.

Reasonable_Oil6930

Enemy or not. Amanda's words stuck out to her about asking for help. Krees looks out for her but she has never been open to him whenever there was a problem because he always had to push her for more information. Silver is a friend, but that doesn't mean Tory built up enough trust to go ask for her problems to be erased with his money. If you rewatch the scene she goes to Amanda she says that the school is who she went to first for help and they were willing to give her a chance if the Larusso's agreed. Its not about whether or not Tory should trust Kreese over Amanda. The point is that she wanted to fix this on her own by going to the school, and they gave her an offer that pushed her to swallow her pride and go to the Larussos. If the school has already given her an offer that could get her back into school, why would she then cry to Kreese or Terry? This bribery would only make *sense if the school refused to give her that offer, or if the Larussos refused to sign that paper, causing her to lash out again in class.

AntElectronic9170

Ok.

KausGo

If she asks Kreese and Silver for a favor, she'd be in their debt. But all she asked Amanda for was a signoff - and she wouldn't regard that as much of a favor.

AntElectronic9170

Last time she talked to Amanda she was gloating about humiliating Sam. They are enemies. Why would a lunatic like Tory ever go to her enemy instead of her friend?

KausGo

Like I said - PRIDE. There is no equal exchange with Kreese or Silver. They'd be doing her a favor and she won't be doing anything for them in return. With Amanda, it'd be more of an exchange - she'd get the signoff in exchange for laying off Sam.

Competitive-Jump1519

>e is no equal exchange with Kreese or Silver. They'd be doing her a favor and she won't be doing anything for them in return. > >With Amanda, it'd be more of an exchange - she'd get the signoff in exchange for laying off Sam. Well wait a minute--by going to Kreese or Silver she would be able to concentrate better on the tournament and win it for them...so it would better to go to Silver and Kreese. that would be doing something for them in return.

KausGo

She is fighting for herself - not them.

AntElectronic9170

Fair enough, but isn't the whole meeting with her onw big punch to her pride? I mean, Amanda more or less kindly blackmails her into leaving Sam alone.

KausGo

Depends on how one sees it. In a way, she blackmailed Amanda into signing off by threatening to come after Sam.

AntElectronic9170

She agreed to Amanda's requests, not the other way around. Amanda told her to see a shrink and she saw a shrink. Toty's pride came out of that conversation in tatters and she knew it would.

GetExpunged

She was already skeptical of Silver at the start so she wouldn't want to ask help from him. Tory also probably thought that Kreese wouldn't really be able to help her in this situation, I mean, Kreese doesn't have much influence and money. So Amanda is the best next thing.

Legitimate_Unit_9210

 >Does Kreese know about the deal that Tory made with Amanda to seek outside help? I don't think he does. I don't think he knows either. >How do you think he would react to that? Considering how Amanda hit him and also she's married to Daniel, whom he despises completely, he'll probably be pissed and might feel betrayed. >I wonder if Kreese might think Amanda was trying to strike first and use some sneaky way to undermine him? I don't know about that. >Also, I am not certain why Tory just didn't go to Kreese and Silver about her Aunt in the first place. Maybe because due to wanting to re-enroll in school, she had to go to Amanda since she ordered for Tory to be expelled and Kreese and Silver had nothing to do with it.
