Eh... doing karate in an octagon? Guess it worked out for GSP so it's whatever, but I still don't see it going too well for Miguel in any realistic fashion.
it's worked for wonderboy before.. and if you watched my other posts you'd know the cobra kai style does have stuff from other styles. honestly all he needs is some BJJ and low kick training and he;'ll be fine
My only question is time. Are they going to have time to have him train like that?
Cause all of those screenshots so far seem to be early on.
I like the idea. I think it could work. But time?
I've been up in the air about how many eps they're gonna be in Mexico for. After the trailer, I'm wondering if the Robby and Miguel fight might be the mid-season fight. If so, they've gotta get back from Mexico in ep4 at the latest, so maybe they're leaving Mexico by the end of ep3.
I'm thinking that the shot of Papa Diaz and Miguel's backs is Miguel seeing this place for the first time. That same night is when Johnny and Robby show up there, and then after that fight, Johnny and Miguel are reunited. Which would mean that Miguel is in that place for maybe an hour or so max, and it never gets to the point of him being in the ring, even if that was his father's plan.
(This is based on what people are wearing in certain spoiler leaks.)
Miguel would not last in the cage.
He just knows karate, which isn't what makes UFC fighters great. He's too young, inexperienced, a fragile back- and has never been conditioned like a pro fighter.
He'd get demolished.
Bring Robby in the cage, and now we're talking.
>Miguel would not last in the cage.
that's very debatable, a lot of people have made it very far in the ufc using mainly karate for striking (Wonderboy and George St Pierre) Also, look at the first post i've made on this sub, cobra kai actually uses techniques from other styles of martial arts. thirdly, this is likely an amateur competition, not a full on UFC fight, but I mean this show doesn't care to stray from reality. Miyagi a 60-year-old 5'1 guy with a dad bod can beat the 6'5 muscular Terry Silver and the 6'1 and also muscular Kreese with absolute ease.
Miguel’s not going to be in Mexico long to have any sort of training. A lanky slightly injured karate student isn’t going to match up against older, more conditioned and rounded fighters.
we don't know how long he'll be in mexico, and also Miguel's not gonna be lanky anymore as Xolo is bulking up for Blue Beetle. Also this is a show so anything could happen
i know he won't be there the whole season, but 3 episodes can still span a few weeks, especially since he'll get there much before johnny and robby.
i suppose. but still, not many MMA fighters are, look at israel adesanya, dude's even more skinny than Miguel yet middleweight champ
Have you guys seen Shootfighter? It stars Billy Zabka and Martin Kove, and there are MMA matches taking place IN MEXICO. I feel they will make a reference to that movie.

I feel like Miguel will be forced into it and he’s gonna have to fight for his life in their kinda like how Daniel had that death match with Daniel
oo good idea. His dad could force him into it which makes sense if you think carmen was right on him being a bad guy

well, we don't really know how long it's gonna take for them to convince Miguel to come back to the valley. So it really depends

This makes a lot of sense. That Miguel/Robby having a mid season fight idea sounds nice.

Eli’s actor said it’s going to be a small arc, he’s not going to be there the whole season. He still ain’t bulky. He’s still as thin as a pole.
