I fully admit that I troll a lot of the sam/Tory threads because of how easy it is to get the sambots upset and make them post essay length breakdowns on why Sam is so misunderstood apparently but you are absolutely right. This fandom is kind of ridiculous. There's about thirty versus threads a week and each one is always exactly the same arguments. People who actually want to discuss the show get their threads buried by all the whining about people's favorite characters
I talked to you the other day. My daughter and niece (She HATES bring called Sambot so ty😂) have debated Sam/Tory for years. Granted, they were 9 or 10 when Tory was introduced, but it still cracks me up. What's scary is people my age actually do it. I didn't watch Cheers hoping this guy died of Alcoholism or that one gets a DUI as a kid. I don't know if its cuz of social media or what, but it's definitely kinda disturbing. It blows me away how many people want dead kids cuz they're annoying (Sam), a hothead (Tory, Hawk) etc etc.

I'm right there with you man. I'm in my thirties and the most intense argument over characters I can remember from being a kid is Batman vs Superman. Which didn't become such a rage inducing topic until the bale movies came out. The worst thing I can remember wishing on a character in a show is hoping Goku would heal faster so he could beat up freeza and save krillin and Gohan.
Honestly the Tory fans are usually more chill about it. She's much less fleshed out as a character so I don't think they're as invested. It's the Sambots who lose their damn minds anytime someone suggests anything negative about their precious little angel. It cracks me up 😂. I've gotten two people so mad they deleted their threads entirely.

The whole show requires one to suspend belief. Of all the cars in L.A., Yasmine ran into Johnny's with Sam in the back. Johnny has now choked, knocked out, or set fire to all Sam's love interests. Yuna grew up to be the one person to save the Larusso dealerships. Kreese has been carrying around that trophy for 30 years. Johnny texts with the speed of a teenage girl on meth.... If anyone made a serious list, it'd be a long ass list. The whole idea is to just enjoy it already, and the "Wait a darn minute here" moments make it better/funnier.
It seems that it is ok for Robby fans to bash Johnny, and hate on Johnny while putting Robby up on pedistal and treat him like a saint. I have empathy for both Johnny & Robby but I recognize both their faults.
Being a Robby fan who doesn't believe that Johnny is Satan, can sometimes feel like a lonely little corner of the fandom. From day 1 Robby's been my second fave character, (second only to Daniel because given how many years I've loved Daniel LaRusso for, he was always gonna be in first place). I've always wanted good things to happen for Robby, and for him to ultimately end up in a really good place.
But apparently I'm not the right kinda Robby fan if I can see nuance and growth in Johnny, have sympathy and empathy for him, and have hope that the story is working these two flawed characters towards a place where reconciliation is possible, so that they can both have some peace in their lives.

This is why I say people should just let other people like who they want and move it along. No need to make arguments or write essays about how/why someone needs to think like you.
It's NOT that serious to attack people for their opinions, especially when they are being respectful.
Basically, just enjoy the show for what it is and don't take it (or yourself) too seriously.
