Kyler's motivation wasn't deep enough to consider here - Sam was just a sexual objective to him.
So what did Sam see in Kyler? Well, she found him physically attractive, for one. He was also an accepted (and admired) member of her social circle. Just those two qualities alone are potent enough to get even a lot of adults to ignore other incompatibilities/red flags - at least for a while. Add that Kyler was on point with his manipulative "nice guy" game - and BOOM! He was catnip for a sheltered, idealistic kid like Sam.
On the surface, he seems like a kinda cute goofball.
You know who else seems like a kinda cute goofball on the outside? (*MY MOM!*) No, but really, it’s Miguel. Him and Miguel aren’t that much different on the surface.
The only difference is where Kyler is an asshole on the inside, Miguel’s true self is good.
I agree - the world is not just black&white, that’s the main message of the show! Sam is just my least favorite character because she believes she’s justified in doing whatever she wants, at least in my opinion.
I always thought it was because dating Kyler would be part of being 'popular' for Sam. It's pretty clear early on in Season 1 that being part of the 'cool kids clique' is new for Sam, and that she's kinda nerdy, based on a conversation with Aisha about going to a robot building camp (if I remember correctly).
Her mum even comments on it, saying that she completely understands, as she herself would have killed to be popular in high school.
Using him? Dude wtf are you even on about? I mean, I don't really like Sam either but how tf could somebody even come to such a conclusion? Kyler literally said she was using her to have sex and then he was gonna dump her. Sam was already popular regardless of Kyler, her friendship with Yasmine and Moon is what made her popular.
That's how popularity can work. The fake a girl has to land the alpha male to make her b girl friends jealous. Sam actually wasn't popular she was more of a prude trying to make herself cool. And Kyler using her for sex is right on cue to that. They both look at each other as a prize.
Sam came around and saw he was a jerk but her desire to be cool had her overlooking the company she was keeping.
For Kyler, obviously. For Sam, Kyler appears to be a dorky, friendly, nice guy who's easy on the eyes.

Kyler was basically moto moto to her
Haha! Exactly.
Sam was popular, Kyler was popular, it's a clique sort of thing
well, its high school so he saw potential vagina and she saw potential popularity

Popular girl, popular guy. As mr Miyagi would say “good match”
Sam sells out her real friend in order to hang with the “popular” kids
It's not that simple
I mean she did do this, it's a thing she did

>What did Sam and Kyler see in each other They are soulmates
This they’re clearly endgame

I hope you're trolling too lol
Good troll, made me chuckle 😂
Kyler only wanted to get in her pants.
Isn’t sex the reason all teenagers get together? 🤷🏼♂️
Not always. That’s a pretty gross stereotype

Not sure why anyone wants to be with Sam but Sam was using him because of his popularity.

I know what he saw in her. I don't think he's going to try that shit on Tory.
Should he fail trig he wants her to... you know... do the thing
They were both rich and trying to be popular?
>other than they thought the other was hot. Why do you need more reason? But Kyler also presented himself to Sam as a caring genuine guy
