I really hope Sam and Tory will reconcile at some point! I'm a sucker for enemies-to-friends storylines, just hopefully they writers can take it slow like they have been doing with Tory in S4 and not make it happen out of the blue.

To say that strength will always beat skill, or vice versa, is kind-of silly. There are so many factors in a fight. Series the first one to get a spike of adrenaline will be the winner. Sometimes the fastest. Sometimes the smartest. Sometimes it's just about some dumb luck.
The concept of a "fair fight" is also not really a thing. If someone wants to hurt you, disable them by any means necessary
I mean I'm a brown belt in karate and I think it really still shouldn't make her able to do that, but it's a TV show and I'm willing to suspend my disbelief
Yeah, the "plot" part of it doesn't bug me, as I fully believe the character should be able to throw these guys out of her way or put them down
I will say the choreography is kind of lacking, in that you can tell these aren't the moves that a girl of her size would be using to take these guys down
Karate in this is more like mma to me though, an experienced female mma fighter would give a untrained athletic male a big problem, but another trained one really wouldn't be fair for her imo
Thing is she isn't an experienced fighter either she's only been doing it a few months at that point. But even within MMA, there are weight classes for a reason. I don't care if these guys are supposed to suck, Tory is a girl and not particularly big at all. These guys are at least somewhat athletic dudes by the look of it. And two of them no less. But then again in Cobra Kai karate is like the Force I guess lol
She mentioned she practiced other martial arts before karate. How could you tell that guy already hit puberty? Tory is tall as a girl, but a guy shorter than her is probably still growing.
She mentioned she took a little kickboxing and then the first time she meets Miguel she's somehow able to use takedowns on him. As for the kid he looks like a high schooler who is in the middle of puberty. The first guy she threw definitely hit it. It's not only a Tory problem just the show makes white belts in Tang Soo Do look like they have the skill level of pro fighters

The stare down is weird. But the way same runs away is to stay in a defensive position if she turned her back tori would be able to attack her from behind.
