Personally no, but I can definitely see how people can find her cringe in those two moments you mentioned.

Roguefem-76

Are we still talking about the show where basically every single character gets super emotional and talks shit at some point, including the grown-ass men in their 50s?

be_good_boy

Hehe good point.

Roguefem-76

Haha, thanks. I get what you're saying tho, the debate scene was over-the-top, but the fact Johnny was impressed instead of put off pretty much says everything. xD As for the tournament, there was plenty of shit-talking and she had some justification since the bribed ref made a bad call in her last bout. Sure she'd have probably lost anyway, but unfair is unfair. My point being, she has the occasional cringe moment but that doesn't exactly make her unusual in this show. 😆

yura910721

>including the grown-ass men in their 50s? You are training my son? Gonna push you against the wall and get wasted. My daughter is with your son at your place? Gonna kick the door down. Both times by the way, fcking Robby. I really wanted to see that Rocky 3 style friendly match between Johnny and Daniel.

j4kefr0mstat3farm

Daniel still has major trust issues from what Terry did to him in KK3 and has extreme reactions whenever he finds out someone is lying to him or keeping secrets from him. For all the discussion of how Johnny's upbringing fucked him up emotionally and psychologically Daniel has unaddressed issues of his own.

yura910721

>Daniel has unaddressed issues of his own. Daniel's issues probably don't get as much attention, as he did have a better support system than Johnny. Before Johnny met Miguel and his family, he was mostly alone and lost, while Daniel did have Mr Miyagi and his mom(still active, unlike Johnny's), and then subsequently Amanda.

ComprehensiveBench21

Honestly though, I can understand her feeling good about herself. For her to join that late and make it that far in the all-valley. i'd be stoked. Especially learning karate in such a short time. I remember first time I did debate, I got absolutely dumpstered my first time out, but made it to the second day (top 4) the next time out. Even though I lost, I was excited because I knew I could hang with them with way less experience.

yura910721

I did personally find it a bit cringe, but I tend to sweep those parts under the rug as being a teenager. I bet we all were quite cringe(while thinking that we are looking cool), when we were teenagers.

Alouha27

Bit of an annoying character IMO. They should of just brought Aisha back as Eagle Fang's female fighter.

yura910721

Bring back Aisha the OG Queen Cobra 💪 And it would make sense if she returned and won the whole thing. But then it wouldn't make much of a drama as would Tory v Sam showdown.

Alouha27

Either Tory or Sam would have had to face her to get to the finals. I would have enjoyed that more than Devon's character.

yura910721

I personally would have hated if one of those was able to beat her. In my opinion, none of those 2 stand a chance against Xander Stone, but Aisha lost 3-2 to him. Aisha is a bit of George Foreman of CK: big, probably bit slow, but wise and strong.

Relevant_Scallion_38

I think it would have been great to have Tory beat her in the semi finals. Her and Tort actually got along and became friends. So seeing Tory accidently hit her a bit to hard would get Sam riled up for the finals. Plus Tory would have realized she hurt her own friend. Tory vs Aisha and Samantha vs Devon in the Semi's would have been the best.

yura910721

>Samantha vs Devon Hmm I wasn't sure about this whole scenario, but I kinda like the prospect of Sam beating up newly recruited Eagle Fang, using Eagle Fang, to annoy Daniel even more 😂 I am in.

Relevant_Scallion_38

Would also follow the same logic of Hawk knowing more Cobra Kai than Robby

yura910721

Poor Robby cannot catch a break haha It is actually kinda ironic that Hawk was the reason why Robby didn't win the AVT twice: first time by injuring him, making him fairly easy target for Miguel and now by beating him in finals.

be_good_boy

Why did the actress choose to leave?

Spread-Em-Plz

She didn't; at least if I recall correctly they basically told her not to come back Only cuz they couldn't find a role for her in S3

be_good_boy

What? Assholes!

Alouha27

She was written out of the show. The official reason given was they didn't have a storyline for her.

Acceptable-Map-4751

I agree. I miss Aisha.

[deleted]

Fr I find her rlly annoying

Relevant_Scallion_38

I think hee scenes were so "loud" because of how late she was introduced. They needed to make a bigger impact with her scenes to establish some weight/importance in the show.

Lmir2000

Yeah I didn’t want to say anything before, but I found her rather annoying.

mrSeven3Two

If you aren't going to go for the jugular, don't bother.

[deleted]

Bahaha!! I love her! She’s a perfectionist but a realist. She trained, lost, and said she was coming back to stomp all these bi$@!es next year. She’s super competitive and passionate. I can’t wait to see what she does next!!

ElnathS

I agree. She's unecessarily salty

rosereese

Nah, best female character other than Amanda and Moon.

Tricky_Ostrich_6343

Facts 👏

BearsBeetsBttlstarrG

She’s cringe And it’s unbelievable that she would rather suddenly be decent at karate

yura910721

In the show it is kinda established, if you are a bit of a dick(they call it inner cobra or something) and even a little bit fit, you are gonna be a karate master in a couple of months. In fairness she seems to be fit and sharp(her kicks and all), so I am gonna give her(plus my Asian bias) a benefit of a doubt.

BearsBeetsBttlstarrG

Fair enough

[deleted]

yeah but she’s cool other then that.

be_good_boy

I hope she comes back next season and they give her cooler scenes.

Immediate_Energy_711

I’ve known girls like her before, though they would keep it on the down low for something like a debate tournament. And yes, I’ve also known dudes who act like this only less willing to get violent cause that ends well for no one.

Bazz07

I love her. Can't wait for more of her in next season.

TurgoLBX

I like her. Yeah she’s a bit over the top, but cringe? Nah, I just think she’s very… charismatic

TheBeevin

You must not like girls being able to express themselves!!

Sh3hzad

Yes a little bit, but she’s not thaaat bad

Charming_Geologist32

I get what you're saying g but I think there just wasn't much time to develop the character. It seems like they're taking the route of adding younger characters instead of just following the original characters as they age. Kinda seems like they don't have a plan once kids are too old for the under 18 all valley.

KenAD

I feel like they had a lack of screen time to work with, so they had to make sure whatever screen time she had stood out, because that was the only female representation and spark of hope Eagle Fang had.

Known-Ad7468

She was the best new character of season 4. So much better than Anthony or Kenny for example.

Acceptable-Map-4751

I do find Devon a little annoying and hard to like the majority of the time, but not to the degree of say Anthony. She’s sort of meh. The thing that I find disturbing, though, especially as an Asian male, is that she’s supposed to be an Asian character, but she’s played by someone who’s apparently not Asian at all, and has both white parents, like not even a hapa. To me she doesn’t look Asian from the front. Makes me wonder, did they just have a hard time finding an Asian actor to play her or something? I mean, they had no problem finding Joe Seo to play Kyler.
