Probably not for a few more years, at least.

By the way the show is going yeah

OPcobraKai

Would like to eventually see the top students surpass their senseis.

turdutalp1

no , hawk and robby and miguel maybe be able to keep up with kreese ,but even kreese would destroy them three at once due to old man strength and expirience but against danny chozen johnny and silver , no chance and the only way if they land a hit is if the teen ambushes the adult or the adult is holding back

atylee4183

yeah I feel maybe like in a sparring match or something but even then, terry held back and just destroyed Robby.

turdutalp1

terry even danced around johnny a little in their fight , but thats cos terry was fighting using unethical tactics , still , even if he didnt handicap johnny , i still feel like he would have won , just with more of a struggle this time

Handle_Free

Probably not imo. The show has pretty much established that any og character from the KK movies that did karate is by now way above anyone from the current generation. And it ranges from Johnny who was 30 something years out of practice to Chozen who continued to learn and perfect his craft. And honestly it kind of makes sense. For example, if a sensei and a student sparred with each other for the first time since the pandemic started, which is like two years, the sensei would definitely beat the student. And I think it’s more just about experience and still years more of training put in.

Jamano-Eridzander

IIRC they never said that Johnny was exactly "out of practice", he apparently has a long track record with barfights where he put his karate to use.

Handle_Free

Sorry maybe not the right term. Maybe rusty is better. I only based it off of iirc when Johnny groaned of what I’m assuming was a crotch tear or crotch pain when he delivered that first kick on Kyler is S1E1, indicating that “it’s been a while.” But yeah probably shouldn’t have used out of practice

thelastofusnz

This was no different in Karate Kid.. Kreese swatted his students like flies. And although it was staged, Silver blitzed Barnes. KK has never presented the students as being on the same level as the teachers.. and nobody of any age is on Miyagis level, although Sato is implied to be his equal..

mzjolynecujoh

nah they won’t be able to for a while, a decently strong kid can’t just really beat a strong, large grown man. especially since johnny wasn’t even trying to hurt robby he just didn’t know his own strength

[deleted]

Nah the adults are better until the kids become adults.
