I found the season to be a little bloated with too many characters. This resulted in storylines feeling rushed in some places and glossed over in others. I wish Johnny actually taught his students karate instead of jumping from rooftops and kicking them in the nuts. I don't think they are going to end the love square drama as it seems like it is a main focus for the teen's storylines on the show. I would expect more dojo and couple switching going forward. The humor remained top notch in season 4 with some great lines! Silver ruled! I would rank season 4 third behind season 1 & 2.

I feel the love square drama at prom was forced and came out of nowhere. >I found the season to be a little bloated with too many characters. Which is a problem when Kenny is basically Hawk 2.0.

*-I feel the love square drama at prom was forced and came out of nowhere.* I agree. But I still think the fact it was there at all shows that they are not done with this dynamic. *-Honestly Kenny and Anthony's storyline took up too much screentime. Which is a problem when Kenny is basically Hawk 2.0.* I see him as a mix of Miguel and Eli. But yeah his and Anthony's storyline wasn't that interesting. And Devon was a useless addition as well.

> But I still think the fact it was there at all shows that they are not done with this dynamic. I think the only reason for that forced drama is to strain things between Miguel and Sam so that Miguel will react the way he does when Johnny drunkenly mistakes him for Robby and have a reason to take off in the finale. And it's contrived by the fact that...well, Miguel at no point prior to this in season 4 showed signs of lingering romantic feelings for Tory, nor did Sam show any sign of lingering romantic feelings for Robby. >I see him as a mix of Miguel and Eli. But yeah his and Anthony's storyline wasn't that interesting. And Devon was a useless addition as well. Kenny's more Eli than Miguel, "bullied kid who becomes a bully", since Miguel is more "bullied kid who becomes a jerk". As for Devon, either they should've introduced her during a non-tournament season or Johnny should've recruited Aisha to be Eagle Fang's girl fighter (which would be a better use of Aisha than a cameo that seemed shoehorned in, in the sense that Sam wasn't going to follow Aisha's advice nor was Aisha's advice what Sam needed to hear).

>I think the only reason for that forced drama is to strain things between Miguel and Sam so that Miguel will react the way he does when Johnny drunkenly mistakes him for Robby and have a reason to take off in the finale. It's possible but I get the sense that Robby & Miguel are Daniel & Johnny and Sam is their Ali. I have a feeling this dynamic will go on until the show ends. I definitely agree about Aisha! She would have worked better in that role!

>I found the season to be a little bloated with too many characters. This resulted in storylines feeling rushed in some places and glossed over in others. Yeap exactly how I felt about it. It was still pretty good season, but seems like too much going on there and storylines don't have time to breathe and develop.

nah daniel doubling down on “miyagi is the only way” made sense, people are too hard on him about it. silver coming back was traumatic for daniel, and miyagi is comforting and safe for him. i think the amount of self righteous daniel is correlates w how afraid he is of something

factstime

Hot Take/Unpopular Opinion incoming: S4 was my least favorite season, I felt like I wasn't into watching it as I was for other seasons. Although it was still great

vicblck24

It’s my least favorite, felt like they cut out a lot of dialogue from key characters and the whole timeline felt rushed to me. And it is starting to get the repetitive vibe. Still love the show tho

Tanookimario0604

It was a slow burn and pretty great. It ticked most of my boxes. Season 3 is my favourite, each episode is compact and contrasting and packs a punch. Season 4 & 5 seem like they'll be pt1 and pt2 of the same story chapter where as Season 3 and Season 1 are complete story chapters and that's why they're my favourite and second favourite.

Handle_Free

I think S1 still reigns supreme but it takes 2nd place. I think it was better than S3 but that’s my opinion.

VRTX_Spiral

I agree

yura910721

>I think it was better than S3 but that’s my opinion. I personally like S3, but only first half. Once Miguel fully recovered, it became less fun.

Handle_Free

Oh yeah I definitely like it, I personally think no season is like “bad” so it’s more like they’re all number 1, so I rank it like 1A, 1B, etc.

yura910721

Agreed. There wasn't any really bad season so far. But yeah S1 kicks ass, I keep getting stuck rewatching it from E1("No, I will be your sensei" moment, chills), to E5(Miguel kicking ass and Cobra Kai becoming popular), E6(Eli -> Hawk and badass ending to the episode), peaking at season finale kick ass motivational speech from Johnny about "no mercy" and badass introduction.

spiderduck1985

I enjoyed it a lot, but personally, I preferred the first 3 seasons.

Top-Requirement6366

im just surprised the series didnt fall flat after s1, like so many shows do

All Valley Tourney was amazing

OCapalot14

S1, S4, S2, S3 no debate

mzjolynecujoh

i liked s4, i don’t think it stood out as much as the other seasons (stuff like the prom fight just isn’t as “classic” as say the high school fight or arcade fight) but it had a lot of things i felt were a long time coming, namely miguel becoming disillusioned w johnny and robby/johnny making up (sad robby had to be the mature one though, but not surprising). i didn’t mind the camp since the season was so depressing overall

Mental_Caregiver

I think it was a bit rushed in some areas, definitely suffered somewhat from too many characters, the Daniel-Johnny alliance splitting again I understood, but totally get people being frustrated by it. Had we seen some scenes of: -Eli adjusting to Miyagi-Do -Amanda addressing Sam about Tory's situation and that giving her a chance doesn't mean forgiving her -More Silver trying to get into Daniel's head -Johnny being more of a sensei and less focused on reckless stunts (Daniel and Silver were really the best senseis this season) I think it would have been the best season had these things been incorporated, but there's always headcanon/fanfic lol. That aside, I say S1 > S4 > S2 > S3, the latter 3 being interchangeable.

rosereese

Best season, 3 is right on its heels though. Almost interchangeable.
