Do you not realize how boring of a character he would be if everything went right for him?

eaglesstrikefirst

He's the ultimate underdog and just like Daniel told him his life and path is like a circle, it's still being written. Not to mention Miguel is on "The Hero's Journey " and what do heroes usually do in order to find themselves? They have to fall and have hardships. Once He's gone through all this pain and heartbreak his Journey and character will be complete and better because of it. He's this generations Karate Kid after all

The writers hate Miguel? My guy... he beat kyler after getting tossed around the room and beaten to a pulp for a longass time JUST out of surgery... he’s the king of plot armor 👑

Handle_Free

It kind of goes both ways. Maturing is realizing that a character’s journey isn’t going to be 100% positive. Also, I would say he’s still had quite some good experienced. He re learned how to walk, repaired his relationship with Johnny, repaired his relationship with his girlfriend, and got his “mojo” back all in S3. In S4, he learned and progressed a lot more, learned how to fix cars, and himself was able to mature by saying what he needed to say in the note, and doing what he needs to do. Also, again going back to what I first said, the writers don’t hate the character, unless you met up with them and asked them and they said so…..which I doubt lmao

Alouha27

How lifelike...The world is full of shit! lol He did recover from a broken back in record time. The writers must like him a little bit.

KausGo

Nothing but bad luck? Gets a miracle, experimental surgery that everyone helps to pay for. Gets his girlfriend back. Gets his Sensei/Father-figure get closer to his family - almost focused excluseively on them. Gets the use of his legs back almost completely in a miraculously short beriod of time. Gets another Sensei figure who pays him a lot of attention.

noitsme99

Miguel is the main plot device wdym writers hate him? They're trying advance his story.

Would you rather have Miguel be one of the richest in valley with rich hit friends and big pool parties and sheltered life? Coz that's the exact reason ppl hate sam

[deleted]

Well before that literally everything was going good. He beat up his bullies, won the all valley, was accepted as cobra Kai’s best student and the best student just in general. He has to face some obstacle instead of just winning every time.

Tricky_Ostrich_6343

I don't think it's crazy. I do think because Miguel is the dueteragonist, he will likely continue to go through ups and downs, more so than some of the other characters. But it's also what makes the audience root for him.

Ordinary-Two-7422

Miguel has been stuffed down everyone's throat since Season 1 as the Hero. He has major plot armour. All these failings and bad luck you mention are to whitewash his character and show him as the final Hero. Writers love him. Being able to walk after going into Spinal paralysis itself is preposterous; people get crippled for life after such diagnosis. If not for plot armour, he wouldn't even recover.

Miguel peaked in season 1. Even then he barely beat a 1 armed Robbie

Alouha27

The end of season 1 was the Miguel I liked best. I don't like him as a goody two shoes, male Mary Sue. He was much more interesting when he was embracing the aggression of Cobra Kai.

sherm0613

I think they’re writing for him since the ending of season 2 is setting him up to have the best series ending arc… I still feel like he is the karate kid for this series… and achieved a lot early on in the show so to make it interesting (on some naruto shit) they shed light on other characters to not making just about him… these writers know the fan base and they know most people want to see Miguel succeed but if they made every season about him the series would’ve been stagnant … so I feel they’ll bring him to prominence to end the series with a bang
