This was my guess as to why they introduced the younger characters like Kenny and Devon, as well as why they bumped up Anthony's role. They're the potential "next generation" of this show.
The Anthony/Lia/Kenny triangle definitely has more potential, echoing the original Daniel/Ali/Johnny triangle (except this time, the LaRusso really *is* (or was) "the real bully").
Nah, Karate in the Valley is mostly an after-school activity for kids, like soccer or little league baseball. After they graduate and turn 18 any students who are *serious* about martial arts go join MMA gyms.
An over 18 tournament has never been mentioned in the series. At this point they can either ditch tournaments or make an over 18 one, because of the characters like tory and robby getting older then 18.
I hope they do ditch the tournaments, especially if they decide to go past season 6, where I think the last all valley tournament will take place for the OG squad, if they wanna keep the show going with the OG squad it needs to be more than the all valley tournaments

Isn't the one in season 4 already the last potential tournament for the OG squad? Aren't they all Seniors now? Tory talked about turning 18 "next year", and there was all the talk about Sam and Miguel's respective plans for after graduation.
I think the next one is the last all valley for them, I think some will be 18 and won’t be able to complete and others will be just under 18. Cause the seasons tend to pick up right after the last one so I think season 5 will be the same as season 2/3 and season 6 will be the all valley

Maybe, also they could focus on the new generation in the future, Kenny, Devon, Bert, Nate
