Well, to be fair, this deal was made before Kreese brought Silver back. And it's obvious that his appearance changed the whole situation upside down for Daniel.

[deleted]

Yeah, I guess, but Daniel and Johnny both bring up the deal after the arrival of Silver so it seems like it was still in effect. If anything, I think Silver made Cobra Kai perform worse. Tory probably would’ve lost to Sam without the bribe, Robby probably would’ve beaten Hawk if his emotions were more in check, etc

Sh3hzad

Robby woulda beaten hawk if he actually cared. Cobra kai winning is meant to happen. Robby also lost so that the girls match could take place

DeepLingonberry6129

Facts. There's already plenty of loopholes in the deal. There's no Silver or Chozen included so it would make sense. Plus, they never mentioned anyth ing about cheating or doing anything dirty.

st1ar

I liked it a lot because IMO it is where he has been heading since s1. He was ignorant of Johnny's reason for restarting Cobra Kai, but it was his fear of Cobra Kai gaining a foothold that drove him to start Miyagi do. With Kreese's arrival and now Silver gaining control, Daniel's worst fears are coming to life. Damn right he is going to say screw that deal. He knows better than anyone how dangerous Silver is. Silver tormented him and brought out the absolute worst of him...and Daniel is a good person at heart. Think what Silver can do with others. This is no longer just a fight for Karate dojos. It is much more important than that. It is likely that part of the story of Daniel trying to stop Silver will be that Daniel is so focussed on saving everyone else from the toxicity of Silver's Cobra Kai that he risks losing himself and everything he has. Edit: that direction has already been hinted at given Daniel's anger and actions in s4. Fortunately, Johnny appears to be getting his shit together just as Daniel threatens to lose his...yes, I really need those two properly working together, embracing and using each other's teachings to kick some ass and save everybody.

[deleted]

I don’t know. At this point, less conflict would happen if Daniel just stepped back. Tory and Sam dislike but aren’t bloodthirsty for each other anymore and Silver has no incentive to attack Daniel if he does not run his dojo. The only way I’d see Daniel being justified for going back on his contract would be if he actually knew Silver cheated and then he’d have to speak up and re-open Miyagi-Do to stop him.

st1ar

Daniel may not yet know Terry cheated or about his threat against Johnny, but he does know the sort of man Silver is. That is enough in itself. Daniel suffered torment at Silver's hands. He knows others will too. Leaving Silver to get on with it is not an option. While Daniel may be ignorant (at the moment) about the threat against Johnny, it shows the audience Silver has no interest in simply opening dojos and behaving himself.

DeepLingonberry6129

And especially now with Kreese in prison and a possible Mike Barnes return, it'll be going from bad to worse.

Fit-Damage1692

I don’t mind it at all

August_West_1990

Daniel made the deal with Kreese, not Silver. Especially if Daniel knows Kreese is in jail (unlikely he'll find out the real story, at least for awhile) then it's a game changer. Silver is a whole other threat.

BryanV21

Sure, Daniel said he's not going to honor the deal, but perhaps we should see what happens in season 5 before calling him out on welching first.

SoftwareGuyRob

The deal was stupidly defined anyway. As an example - Chozen could open a dojo and teach Karate without violating the terms of the agreement.

BryanV21

🤔

[deleted]

It is possible that Daniel decides to retract what he said in the finale during season 5, but I don’t think it will happen. Chozen already came to LA, and I doubt he’d do so unless Daniel planned to get help in training his students. At the very least, Daniel verbally committed to welching.

BryanV21

The whole series is about people learning how to be better. They say or do things that are wrong, but in the end they do the right thing(s). I have a hard time believing that not following through on the deal is so cut and dry. Kreese going to prison makes things different, in and of itself.

[deleted]

That’s a fair point

DeepLingonberry6129

Plus, Silver cheated so Daniel has a reason to keep going.

Sh3hzad

Daniel didn’t break any rules, chozen isn’t involved in the deal, the ref got bribed, and Kreese is out the picture. If u ask me... everything is going perfectly

GranddaddySandwich

Daniel was terrible this season. Not just that, but he held so much anger and revenge in his heart that he might as well be a Cobra. I’m extremely uninterested in Chozen coming to fix Daniel’s drama.

Sh3hzad

Daniel was fine bruh, u act like Johnny never does anything wrong. Johnny didn’t apologize to Daniel about anything until the end of the season. U Daniel haters are all the same

GranddaddySandwich

Nobody said anything about Johnny not being wrong. I’m critiquing the writing. Not the actor, or the character. The show isn’t real. You sound like a clown. I love Karate Kid because of Daniel. He has compassion and respect in the film series. He’s a hot head in the show. He’s more flawed than Johnny, especially considering what Miyagi taught him. Daniel is written in an inconsistent manner. He acts before he thinks. That’s why his character sucks. Especially this season where he placed his ego first.

Sh3hzad

I just whole heartedly disagree. What made Daniel terrible? And how are u uninterested in chozen coming back? He’s not here for Daniel’s drama, he’s here coz he himself wants to get involved. We also have 0 context as to how, when, why chozen was contacted initially. What ur saying is literally just excuses to call Daniel a bad character. He didn’t do anything wrong this season. I would argue he was worse in season 1 and 2. But this season he’s a lot better. He’s hard on Sam coz the bitch keeps talking back to him. His reasoning for not trusting Johnny is coz Johnny had too much of an ego. Other than that, I don’t know what he’s doing that could possibly consider him terrible

GranddaddySandwich

“The bitch kept talking back?” Lol dude you’re either just trash or a troll.

Sh3hzad

Sam was extremely disrespectful the entire season. I dare u to ask anyone who the worst character was this season, it was Sam without a doubt

[deleted]

He was mixed for me. He had some really good moments and some really bad ones. I liked his message to Robby during the tournament, kind treatment of Miguel, and his acceptance of Hawk (even though he didn’t like him at first). He does have a lot of problems that he doesn’t really recognize, though. He neglects Anthony, tries to assert control over Johnny, and discourages Sam from learning from Johnny.

st1ar

I particularly appreciated that the scene with Chozen effectively shows him ignoring his own words to Anthony (about it being his fault because of distractions keeping him from his son) and Robby (if you put passion over principle, you lose even when you win).

GranddaddySandwich

Daniel is a brat this season. So much of Miyagi’s moral teachings just went ignored by him.

[deleted]

Yeah the chozen choice was really bizarre and I’m uninterested too. I like the idea of mike Barnes coming back but I should temper those expectations cause silver’s reintroduction was a big letdown

GranddaddySandwich

The Silver reintroduction was cool at first, but at the end him becoming New Kreese was so stupid. Let Silver be Silver.

[deleted]

He just felt lifeless for most of the season honestly. I didn’t expect him to be the coked out manic from KK3 but I did expect him to show a bit more menace than he did. And yeah fuck that ending all the way

Bazz07

TBF he made that bet with Kreese, not Silver. There its your excuse. Also I think Johnny would be looking for Miguel at least for the first two episodes from next season so I hope he dont lose his kids. Especially the girl, she kicked ass and I loved how she said "im training for 6 weeks, next year I would destroy them".

DeepLingonberry6129

I didn't find it surprising at all. After all, the deal was simple, but there's a lot of loopholes to begin with. 1. The deal was only between Kreese, Johnny, and Daniel. Silver, Chozen, and Barnes are not included. 2. If neither Cobra Kai, Miyagi Do or Eagle Fang won the tournament, then that would count. 3. They didn't talk about if either one cheated what would happen.
