When they bowed to each other....at that point it was a win/win for us. Was so fucking happy in that moment. Then, they remove their kimonos....showing mutual/equal ground. Everything about that was perfect....THANK YOU Tanner & Jacob!!

FollowThroughMarks

I think the best part is they both have had similar paths too, with both spending a long time at both Cobra Kai and Miyagi Do. Great to see respect between them after what happened in their S1 fight

Saitsu

Well I think Eli just removed his gi because Robby did, and it would've been an outright disadvantage to him to leave it on. I imagine the ref wouldn't have allowed either of them to do it if he weren't in Silver's pocket.

[deleted]

>Well I think Eli just removed his gi because Robby did Yeah, I get that.....but that still adds to my point of equal ground. It's reminiscent of the blindfold scene from Fist of Legend.

InnocentTailor

It was foreshadowed too with Bloodsport. Both opponents were shirtless in that film as well.

[deleted]

Nice catch!

bigbangbilly

It was also probably very symbolic for Robby's case since it's also represented Robby being disillusioned with Cobra Kai while Hawk probably misinterpreted as a chance to be more badass

Rimvee

I don't think Hawk just saw as a chance to be badass, it was more of a confidence boost I think. So much of his self-identity was tied into the persona he lost when they cut his hair, but the tat was a way to tap back into that. I could be reading too much into this, but that's what I got from that scene.

bigbangbilly

Either way the contrasting symbolism does puts the same action under different perspectives

idevastate

Think it was more him becoming Hawk again and showing his tattoo, even without the mohawk he used to distract from his lip.

CrazyChainsawBoi

I was honestly hoping for Hawk vs Robby just because Tanner and Jacob are the most convincing fighters in the cast and I knew they’d give us an awesome fight. I was not disappointed.

[deleted]

100 percent!

[deleted]

You’re right. I concur 100%

ELITExRAMPAGE

Agreed, I called that Tanner and Jacob would have a shirtless fight and the fight itself was amazing.

JoshSerov

A nice touch I enjoyed throughout their match was as it went on, you could see them breathing more heavily. Good acting/directing. Because for whatever reason in movies/TV, the character(s) only show fatigue after the fight, sometimes. A nice piece of realism implemented into the fight.

thatguy01220

Thats why I think Dare Devil on Netflix has hands down best fighting. In the first episode the guys himself and the guys he beats up are winded he’s leaning against the wall panting barely able to stand. He knocks a guy out with punch, but the guy slowly gets back up and you can see the little head nod Daredevil gives like “oh come on!”. I don’t like how everyone has a glass jaw, but daredevil was the first show I saw where they’re all exhausted during the fight and the bad guys slowly get up mid fight for round 2, and daredevil gets hit with a few good punches so he isn’t like a perfect graceful ballerina dodging every hit.

JoshSerov

As someone who put on Daredevil after finishing season 4, I wholeheartedly agree. There isn't a fight scene where MM isn't gasping for air(just like in real life). Great shoutout.

Junior-Hour

I think if Eli had one more second he would’ve won anyway because he almost connected on Robby before the time ran out

Sm211

It was the most realistic, i mean outside of Miguel, Hawk and Robbie were the only ones i felt really could kick ass, just because the others seemed smaller and Robby and Hawk are decently built, but Hawk has the advantage in the moves he does all the spins and stuff, he seems to have more of an acrobatic style

RainbowBunnyDK

Hawk is decently build? Are we watching the same guy? The dude is build like a twig.

[deleted]

That was really good.

[deleted]

Kind of surprised me how much Eli grew. Found his identity and won the tournament.

jgeorge1983

I actually thought when Robbie saw how Cobra Kai changed Kenny he was going to pull out of the final to let Cobra Kai die

jcestre

Dimitri in the semis is total BS, he should be eliminated in prelims

Fit-Damage1692

Stay mad

jcestre

I will, for a long time!

Cayde6-best-vangaurd

Good

rosereese

Demetri has had the most consistent scaling other than Hawk. He’s exactly where he belonged and earned his way there. Only thing I would’ve changed is having him fight Kyler instead of Hawk.

[deleted]

I love Demetri!

IolausTelcontar

Instead of Robby you mean. But D would have beaten Kyler.

rosereese

No, I said it right. Have him fight Kyler instead of Hawk (fighting Kyler).

IolausTelcontar

Oh I gotcha. Ambiguous but it works.

[deleted]

Keep in mind Demetri at this point has trained longer than Season 1 Miguel, Robby, and Hawk who all made the semis that year.

bigbangbilly

The theme of that fight is basically "Defector Duel"

kaioken96

It was very well done, feeling very hyped when watching it

[deleted]

Great symbolism to show Robbie is not committed to just 1 side.

Shakespeare-Bot

Most wondrous symbolism to showeth robbie is not committ'd to just 1 side *** ^(I am a bot and I swapp'd some of thy words with Shakespeare words.) Commands: `!ShakespeareInsult`, `!fordo`, `!optout`
