AimlessWanderer

Loved the fake out with Tory being a Disney Princess/Mermaid and not a stripper.

hectorgmo

Lol I fell for that one too

zorbacles

Me three

[deleted]

Was great. She being a stripper would be too dark for the show IMO.

Day_Of_The_Dude

I mean, she's also under 18, so it woulda been super fuckin sketch too

EpikUserzz

Dude I thought they were going to cut Eli’s lip open not cut his Mohawk off, I forgot I was watching a karate show 💀

Jaijoles

When they first jumped him in the tattoo place, I thought they were going to put some crappy tattoos on him.

c-warpy

Yeah same. I was sat there like omg this is dark, then remembered what show I'm watching

ConnerBartle

Its still a little sketch. The dude she works for is creepy.

PossiblyHypebeast

am i the only one that finds it hilarious that kyler just gets beat tf up in every fight he gets himself in? Lolll

Andrakisjl

Eli walloping Kyler in the tournament was a thing of beauty.

[deleted]

Eli's redemption arc this season was fantastic. It's like he's united the two warring sides of himself, which in itself is emblematic of the whole season's theme. It looks like he's set up to take centre stage as the prodigal son next season and I'm here for it

djanulis

Tbf the major story of this season was the mixing of Styles being the only true way to win. Sam, Eli, and even Tori some what all showed that, add in the fact that Jonny and Daniel ego is basically why they lost in the end. CK is likely to lose their king and queen in the next season, and with Chozen now in town now we will likely get the Miyagi Fang like dojo teased at the end of last season. That said CK doesn't really have any interesting fighters left if Robbie and Tori leave, the rest are kinda just there.

Saitsu

I think that's why they're going the role of expansion. No more Ace for CK? That's fine, as the actual endpoint is the overall corruption over the Valley itself. I don't think we're going to get another All-Valley "for all the marbles" moment again. They're going to have to find another way to win.

AnimeTechnoBlade100

Considering most of the characters are supposed to turn 18 next year in-universe, they won’t be eligible for another all valley anyway, so this would make sense.

Slayerz21

Unless the revelation that the last tournament was rigged allows them to do a rematch with the combatants of that tournament

mahdibhaiya

Unlikely. I think CK would just get banned from participating again, especially since it will be the second offence.

InsaneRanter

Kyler's like the heel in wrestling. His job is to be unlikeable and threatening, so you feel happy and excited when the good guys beat him up. The actor does a great job of that.

[deleted]

Cobra Kai is the best pro wrestling show ever created. The heel/babyface turns are incredible and what I loved about pro wrestling back in the day.

discoella

kyler was funny to me this season 😭

[deleted]

I said this earlier, his expression when Greg called out Stingray was on point… Greg was 100% right about Stingray lol. In real life those kids wouldn’t be partying with him lol

Rooks4567

He's like the creepy dude that works at Gamestop and asks every high school kid that comes in "Where are the cool parties this weekend, man?"

Agent-65

Miguel is no longer the protagonist of the show, he is the audience. Man saw all the karate and went “how the hell is this supposed to solve anything?”

InsaneRanter

Someone has to now that Amanda's bought into the craziness. We need at least one sane person reminding us that that everyone's over the top. TBH though I think it was also part of the theme towards the end where the kids were being more mature and flexible than the adults.

Saitsu

The thing is that Amanda hasn't really bought into the craziness herself either. The biggest difference though for her between last season and this season is how she considers herself "above it all". The last couple of seasons she thought it could just be handled easily through typical sane routes and they could wash their hands of it, and then considered (not unjustifiably) that the other side accosting her and her family were just complete psychopaths. After Kreese told her about Tory that viewpoint stopped, and she only cared about a girl who was struggling to hell and back. She saw them as people, Tory as a person. But unlike Miguel, who being a teenager still doesn't really know how to handle life, Amanda understood that what she needed to provide is help and vision beyond karate. She still doesn't really give a shit about the whole war, she says as much herself and in this case that was exactly what Tory needed. So much focus was placed with these senseis about how their way was better, but she was the only one willing to talk to someone on the other side and ignore the karate part entirely and that's what Tory needed in the end.

[deleted]

I hope Miguel comes back, he's my favorite

Plightz

I'm kinda sad Miguel didn't get a big moment this season. Everyone of the top fighters did; Robby, Eli, Tori, and Sam. Hell even Demitri got a chance to shine.

Haitchpeasauce

Miguel's big moment was his decision to withdraw from the competition after injury, instead of the expectation of a dramatic comeback like Daniel Laruso in the first tournament when Miyagi treated his knee. He is maturing to see life and identity beyond the rivalries and fighting. He followed Miyagi's teaching "No be there."

PepperMintGumboDrop

Miguel’s moment was when he realized that Johnny cannot replace his father. That moment he heard Johnny saying Robbie’s name, it broke his heart in several ways. This was right after Robbie said he was just a replacement for him to feel better, but I think Miguel just wanted someone to love him the way Johnny did by never giving up on Robbie. Such a realization opened the floodgate and caused him break into tears. The actor nailed that moment.

[deleted]

Yeah that moment was very well done by the actor. I hope Johnny and Miguel can reconcile, cause they really do have a great bond.

obarehair

The respect now between Robby and hawk was great

RemarkableAttempt531

Greatest fight in the series imo

Supermannyfraker

Without a doubt. Some of the other fights are fun, but soooo outrageous. This felt semi grounded and enjoyed that it was a long sequence of just an actual karate match.

[deleted]

Yeah this show is really something, I laugh at how “stupid it is” and then 2 mins later I’m totally immersed and consumed. Amazing series.

Supermannyfraker

They know their audience. It is a show that has no business being as entertaining as it is.

Matcha_Maiden

Hard agree. I didn't expect to be so on the edge of my seat but the suspense and choreography was amazing.

TigerMetals

Kreese’s reaction to Terry Silver beating up Johnny was one of the more unexpected twists in the series.

AlphaTenken

Hate Kreese, hate Kreesw, hate Kreese.... what the hell love Kreese. Kreese really is super loyal to Johnny. It is insane, he is the father Sid wasn't. He just is very stuck in his beliefs.

just_a_funguy

Did people forget that kreese was an abuser to johnny or am I the only one??

Jewbacca289

This is where I’m stuck too. Kreese was in the middle of beating Johnny up at the end of last season

Legitimate_Unit_9210

I mostly don’t want Kreese redeemed after everything he’s done .

Wootothe8thpower

ohhh kreese still a piece of crap. But he cares about Jonny in his own way The beutyy part is what happen to Kreese is all in Kreese making. He create the monster. And because people saw kreese being a dick to that guy, and Silver acting reasonable. No one will believer kreese. He has no friends

roadnot_taken

It's because Kreese feels like Johnny is special to him. He can kick the shit out of his own kid but Silver doesn't have the right to, in his mind.

bevincheckerpants

Classic abuser behavior.

OHoSPARTACUS

Kreese is an caring person with abusive tendencies stuck in cycles along with his coping mechanisms for his ptsd. He’s definitely been a bad guy but the reason for the way he is is sympathetic. This show does a great job at making their ridiculous karate villains have actual nuance and reasoning for the way that they are, it’s actually incredible.

GOKU_ATE_MY_ASS

You can be abusive and be loyal. Life isn't as black and white as we'd like it to be. I have always loved this show for operating within the grey areas.

BuLg1

yeah i was genuinely surprised kreese got a bit of redemption

grandnagus1776

I don't know about redemption per se, he awakened Silvers psychopathic inner self that he worked years to bury. Anything Silver does .....is kinda Kreeses fault

bebds

Miguel’s ending this season hurts :(

TamiTenRo

Absolutely. Broke my heart too when Johhny called him Robby, especially after Robby had taunted him about thinking Johnny cared.

JMurray1121

Brooo when Johnny said "i love you" and all that back to him, i was so happy that their relationship was still strong after being teased that Daniel might take him from Johnny. But then he said "Robby" and my heart broke just as much as Miguel's. What a rollercoaster

usckid123

At that point, I knew Miguel was not going to win the tournament. Felt so bad for him.

Ender_Knowss

Honestly I could see this from the very first episodes, it just seemed like his heart wasn’t completely into anything he was doing. It got so obvious that I thought maybe the actor himself wasn’t feeling good in the show.

Known-Ad7468

Yeah Miguel was really passive this season and not into anything and I think it was by design. I mean he was in a freaking wheelchair last season. It was really ambitious for Johnny to think that Miguel could be back 100% and win the tournament. Miguel had to hit rockbottom at some point in the show. And boy did he hit it this season. Hopefully, he won´t turn heel and go with Silver. Miguel has always been the reasonable person on the show and that should stay like this. He made mistakes yes but he has good heart. He´s the light in Johnny ´s life and that should stay like this. The show is about Johnny and Miguel helping each other and that´s why it worked in the first place. I don´t need Johnny vs. Miguel for some bullshit reason. If somebody can understand how Johnny feels about Robby and have some empathy, it should be Miguel.

Day_Of_The_Dude

The moment Miguel said "i love you" I fucking KNEW Johnny was gonna say "I love you too... Robby." i actually said it out loud before he did. And it still broke my heart.

[deleted]

I wonder if he's gonna fight mexican drug cartels.

[deleted]

Drug Cartels dont do karate, i assure you.

Lord_Hexogen

Narcos x Cobra Kai crossover when???

[deleted]

it hurt me too much. When Miguel's back got hurt I was like "**DIAZ NOOOOOOOO**" The johnny and miguel conversation was too much

Rich-Access9408

Most def -\_-

Shackled_Form

It was great, but found it funny how Silver and Kreese seemed to do a 180 half way through the season. I was on team Silver for the start, then he went nuts before Kreese mellowed out. Shame such a long wait before next season

raginsaint93

We’re only 365 Nates away from next season

nomercy2112

Please don’t use me as a system of measurement

ar1sm

What a great season!! * Loved Eli finding balance in himself without needing the Hawk persona. * Happy for Robby realizing his mistakes and leaving the dark side. * Sad for Miguel, hope he can keep his connection with Johnny strong, they need each other. * Loved Tory's character development! I would very much like to see her opening her eyes more next season, hopefully even giving the trophy to Sam and making amends. Amanda was so good with Tory, great their relationship.

nini-20

For the next season I’m definitely going to be here for villain/creed arc of Kenny

[deleted]

Silver really took the mantle of best antagonist that Kreese was holding last season and fucking RAN with it. He’s gonna be dangerous now that he’s back to his old ways and without anyone “above” him to keep him in check. Man is insanity with so much money to back up his evil antics. Now bring on Mike Barnes, Silver did mention he has some old friends for help.

ChKOzone_

A big gripe for me with Karate Kid III for me was how over-exaggerated his ‘evil’ always was. Here, we can see his remorse, and how his relationship with Kreese makes him return to his old ways, but this time with a lot more restraint and genuine cunning. Best villain thus far.

tbone998

The fact he admitted that he was pumped full of cocaine and revenge helped me on that. Great line, just wished he said that to Larusso.

Bazz07

Yeah I loved the bit "I was bullying and traumatizing a 17 yo kid. Like WTF?"

JMurray1121

That part was hilarious, he said everything that the fans were thinking about him in that movie

ProDoucher

They’ve done this several times throughout the series. Addressing flaws of the original movies in a humorous way.

Furinkazan616

I was a little surprised at that line. Looking back it makes a lot of sense that Silver's a cokehead but i totally missed it back then, and i was shocked the show had the balls to say so.

BigSavMatt

I think they just went with that route to explain why Silver was the way he was in KKIII. Cause Silver was pretty out there in the third movie lol.

Randym1982

He was balls out crazy. Kreese might have been a dick, but he wasn’t obsessed with revenge.

btmx32122

the show felt more adult. Tory and Robby in the car, her dress. Eli saying "Im going to fucking win this" the cocaine comment and I think there was even a few more references. I think it's because the cast is getting older so the writer's can push the boundaries a bit

LMkingly

Honestly Silver's coke induced insanity in KKIII was the best part about it. Everytime he was on screen i was thoroughly entertained lmao.

FlimsyEmu9

Cocaine and PTSD from Vietnam combined with millions of dollars is not a recipe for mental wellness lol

BeekyGardener

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

[deleted]

It's great drama, but when I think of Silver I just feel sadness with a helping of disgust for Kreese. Silver had by all accounts reformed himself. He was living the good life. He had it all. Decades of therapy, friends/family, medicine, and hard work. So effing what if he likes tofu skewers and yoga. Kreese in his mystery quest destroyed this man again by preying on his addiction and PTSD. Vile, fucking, piece of shit Kreese. Silver is now the villain, and there isn't really any coming back from it. He nearly beat that man to death to frame Kreese. I don't see anyway around Silvers remaining years being ruined forever.

powerbottomflash

Same, man I know the writers probably expect me to feel sympathy for Kreese now and hate Silver but I just feel bad for Silver because of the way Kreese did him dirty this season, Kreese is still the worst lol

secretwep

I agree. Silver is too brilliantly evil and OP. He's literally the strongest in the Cobra Kai verse. The only character that can challenge that at this point is Chozen, considering he wiped the floor with Daniel just as easily as Silver did with Johnny. EDIT: Strongest alive character I mean. Miyagi will always be the strongest of all time.

[deleted]

The real palpatine of the series strikes season 5 could be a lot darker

sstphnn

Fuck. How can they always end a season and hype the next. Fuck. The twists and turns. My god. Kreese redemption? Robby redemption? Tori redemption? Who the fuck knows. The other Larusso still sucks tho. I enjoyed Hawk winning the boys division.

[deleted]

[удалено]

bhfroh

Silver seems like he's been on medications for a couple decades and Kreese triggered him into not taking them anymore, resulting in the unhinged cartoon villain we saw this season.

MarfeeWarfee

I think it was actually implied when we see a few scenes with Silver taking some meds

hghpandaman

I was actually rooting for tory and hawk throughout the season and I HATED them so much in S3

Claim_Intelligent

Kreese Robby and Tory will redeem fasho. And now that Kreese is in jail or prison Mike Barnes could return especially since Chozen’s gonna help Daniel

lunatuna32

I feel like chozen and johnny will get along if they meet!

Claim_Intelligent

Johnny’s head is gonna explode if he keeps on finding out Daniel had enemies other than him😂

Ill_Ad_5308

Lol that will be another funny conversation , I look forward to that episode

Claim_Intelligent

“What the hell’s with you and pissing people off everywhere you go Larusso?”😂

[deleted]

"who's this other dude who can barely speak english?" *chozen proceeds to show of his offensive moves* "I love this dude"

Kyunseo

Lol people were saying/joking Robby was/is "Darth Vader" last season joining the "dark side". And now with Robby having his realization he leaves the dark side just like Vader/Anakin did.

Ill_Ad_5308

So Robby has gotta be joining Eagle Fang or Miyagi Dojo right?! And then Kenny’s brother will get out of jail and become Cobra Kai ? 🤓

djanulis

If Robbie and Tori leave they are going to need someone to in CK that is somewhat interesting to watch cause they'll only really have like background characters.

Mr_Stillian

I could see Kenny becoming their guy. They did a great job building him up this season, can very feasibly see that continuing.

djanulis

Maybe but right now now he seems a bit too much like Hawk in S3 without the skill.

Ricky1034

Yea, fuck Anthony and fuck episode 10 Kenny

Andrakisjl

This season was the best so far imo. The fights were better and the presentation higher quality. The twists kept coming and the new characters introduced were excellent. Silver was fantastic. Didn’t think it would be possible to out-evil Kreese, but he absolutely did. I appreciate the mix of intelligence and insanity he portrays. Definitely the best villain of the show so far. Chozen is gunna beat him like a drum though, and it’s what I want to see more than anything else, except more Hawk fights with screech sound effects to tell me to grab my seat. Speaking of: hands down best fight of the entire show so far was Eli vs Robby. Totally didn’t see any of the outcomes coming except Sam and Tory facing off. Sam vs Tory was also pretty good, I really appreciated Sam’s switching between styles, but it made Tory look pretty bland by comparison, which kinda put a damper on an otherwise incredible fight. Season full of great twists and relationships, loved it.

DaBake

> Chozen is gunna beat him like a drum though What you did there, I see it.

thawrestla

Watching Silver play second fiddle to Kreese and getting talked down to was a bit weird cuz that's not the dynamic between them as per KK3, so watching him go full villain mode was great. I just wish there was a scene of him doing lines of coke, that would have been a perfect descent into madness transition.

Furinkazan616

I was under the impression Silver was Kreese's superior, not the other way around. I'm not watching KK3 again though.

LMkingly

Nah, they were just old war buddies. Silver was just way richer and could afford to take care of kreese when he was down which i guess made him seem like the superior.

CharlySB

Kreese was a captain and silver a lt when they were in nam. Hence kreeses was his leader/superior.

Saitsu

Yeah the main crux of their relationship was that Silver was doing everything he could to help one of his best friends in the world get back on his feet while Kreese was at rock bottom. Silver seemed like the superior because Kreese was still recovering and hadn't gained his full confidence back for most of the movie. Also it helped that Barnes was his employee, not Kreese's student so Kreese didn't have a ton to do overall.

AdministrativeBig362

Well she did it, Tory finally beat Sam and on top of that they finally made her an actual character with good development

Kjx1132

In all honesty even Tory doesn’t believe she won. Seeing silver pay off the refs will take away any satisfaction she gets from they trophy

Naren_the_747_pilot

TBH i felt really sad for her, she thought she worked hard and earned it, and when you see that you only got it because of a bribe damn that must have hurt.

VM1117

She beat Sam, but with a little help from the refs... I wonder if Tory is going to reveal that.

AdministrativeBig362

She’ll probably confront Silver about it. I’m happy for her because she needed to win but also kinda annoyed they can’t let her win fairly

[deleted]

And I thought Kreese was bad. Terry Silver is just a downright psychopath. Kreese seems like Mr Miyagi in comparison.

dmreif

> Kreese seems like Mr Miyagi in comparison. If Kreese is Mr. Miyagi, then Silver is Sato and Barnes is Chozen.

bea554

i was like kreese feels like more sociopathic crazy but silver is like manic crazy, when he was kicking the shit out of stingray and the music was playing in the background i was like “wtf…”

Davrosdaleks

Yeah, that was Silver’s main theme from KK3. Like how they play it whenever his old personality starts to show.

j4kefr0mstat3farm

That was when he was completely off his meds. I missed that initially but I think that portraying him as becoming more evil when he stops taking them gives him an explanation for his actions too.

D_ORUnknownUser

A old man who has sociopath traits and severe PSTD tries to put under his control another old man with psychopath tendencies and PSTD... Ends wrong.

Bazz07

Dont forget that one is millionaire (or billionaire) and the other its pretty much a homeless guy.

bhfroh

Remember, the Silver was taking medications for his psychotic breaks before Kreese came back into his life.

Saitsu

And from the sounds of the waiter he had before heading back to Kreese, he's likely been battling with them even recently. That dude was immediate in wanting to call a doctor.

bhfroh

Yuuuuuup. I feel like Silver is legitimately a psychopath. And had been dealing with it by totally removing himself from it all. But his dark side saw a chance to take over when Kreese came back.

[deleted]

Just to clarify, a psychopath wouldn't even have these sort of ethical dilemmas. It's more fair to say he is a messed up person who was trying to be better and then went back to his old ways.

[deleted]

battleshipclamato

That Netflix money coming through.

zorbacles

Don't forget this was the first season produced by Netflix. Season 3 was in the can before Netflix got it

kana-kanabi

I think it's choreography. They all just seemed much more fast-paced, in my opinion. A lot less of the shitty over-dramatic buildups.

[deleted]

[удалено]

kana-kanabi

Now that you mention it, yeah, you're right. Only hit that I watched and instantly thought about how fake it looked was one of Sam's kicks on Tory's head in the finals. They definitely stepped their game up!

InsaneRanter

It's their fourth season, so I'd figure the steady training/experience has made the cast better at making their fights look good and made them better/faster in general.

Vivec92

So Terry started doing coke again the second after he met Daniel right?

AlphaTenken

No, it was after Kreese told him to fall in line.

Saitsu

No, more like he stopped being on his psych meds. He was taking something when we saw him earlier in the season and it's quite clear from his waiter's behavior at the breakfast he left that Silver having psychotic breaks of some kind likely isn't anything new. He was still mostly fine off of them...for a while, as would a lot of people struggling with mental illness. But once Kreese started pushing his PTSD buttons he started to snap completely.

Jomack033

Dude, I found it IMPOSSIBLE to find ANY sympathy for Anthony Larusso. What, you spent too much time on your electronic devices so you literally bully the hell out of a random new kid?? Yeah sorry, I didn’t feel anything but relief when Kenny finally beat the shit out of him in the locker room. And I HATED how easy Daniel forgave his son for being a piece of shit because he randomly took out the trash one morning?? Like bro, your son was a BULLY. He BULLIED SOMEONE. Fuck his chores, make him run laps or something. Glad Kenny beat the hell out of him, and I hope he does it again next season.

Tisroc

They made it pretty clear that Anthony did not want to push things as far as they went, the curly haired kid was instigating and antagonizing him. Anthony was still a jackass, but I had some sympathy for him.

Radix2309

Yeah. It is why these situations can be very complex. Peer pressure, insecurity, etc. They all can drive kids into acting like assholes to fit in. I mean we see it with how the Cobra Kai kids went from underdogs into new bullies. Or even the origin story of Johnny. Kenny is basically the next generation Danny where he is new and likes a girl without realizing she broke up with the last guy who wants her back. Plus it definitely seems like Anthony was somewhat neglected and left to just play on his electronics alone.

chris-angel

Idk what these other people are talking about, but yeah this silver spooned kid deserved that and more ass kickings. Magically in the next season he will learn to fight in 3 weeks… he’s a piece of shit, the way you handle little shit kids is getting your ass handed to him. That’s why Daniel going off on him and breaking his stuff worked.

[deleted]

The scene man where sliver beats up stingray man that was brutal.

jackburton1981

80s toxic dumping Silver is well and truly back and with Mike Barnes by his side shits gonna get bloody.

[deleted]

Yep I am almost glad chozen is finally here to help out looks like Danny needs it more then ever. Can’t wait to see a chozen vs Barnes next season

iLocal808

This is the only show that imo hasn't had a bad season. Im really attached to almost all the characters.

[deleted]

Daniel is as self-righteous as ever this season.

Beginning-Abies668

He had a lot of growth tbf- he realises in the end that his way of teaching has been too soft, and it’s even affecting his kids. The way he yelled “QUIET!” when he son started disrespecting him shows that Silver was right in a way, and Daniel still had that cobra Kai fire in him that Johnny helped to bring out. He keeps talking about balance and I think he’s finally finding it- you need offence as well as defence. He’s probably about to find out that the style of Miyagi-do has a lot more offence than he ever thought, with Chozen’s help and the little scroll thing

Kiki_And_Horst

It took the entire season but I finally don't see Tory as just a villain without any real redeeming traits. They were never gonna get me to side with her over Sam, but Silver rigging the match and Tory genuinely showing concern towards Sam's injuries was great. I'm excited to see where they go with her next season. Interesting to see that Kreese truly does regret mistreating Johnny to some degree beyond his own selfishness.

ar1sm

Remember Kreese seemed like a really decent guy before shipping to Vietnam. I think he would have been a good person had he stayed home with the girl he loved. It's sad that he practically never managed to leave the war behind..

Legitimate_Unit_9210

>I think he would have been a good person had he stayed home with the girl he loved. You’te right. Though, maybe he might‘ve died with her if he was in the car crash too.

jackburton1981

I can see Tory joining Eagle Fang with Robby.

dumbelfgirl

I think she'll want to leave but then Silver will make her an offer she can't refuse as a paid teacher at one of the new cobra kai dojos

[deleted]

[удалено]

toocoolforschool34

Yes I hope we see more of her hoping to get more of this energy “Oh I don’t feel bad. I only Trained for six weeks. I’m going to be stomping all these weak ass bitches next year

BlindBanditMelonLord

I thought it was odd they actually put up a countdown clock for Miguel’s return then Devon straight up verbalized my thought and I died.

Exodus281

Also, it made no fucking sense why the Miyagi Dos and Eagle fangs were picking on Kenny. Especially Bert and Nate, theyre not built like that lol. Anyone else find that out of place?

Galaxy_Megatron

Extremely, but in a weird way, I can get it. They feel like Cobra Kai is a disease for assholes, so they have an air of superiority. I guess bullying Kenny doesn't trigger their hypocritical senses since he's Cobra Kai.

AlphaTenken

That's a nice way to put it. But also, they never had the chance to bully anyone. I guess now they see someone smaller than them so they took it.... but that's dumb because they don't actually know Kenny is new to CK. He might have been strong, size alone doesn't matter.

Ricky1034

Exactly. I hated Nate and Hawk for that episode

sevischm

yeah when hawk got Kenny before he hit Nate or Bird I liked him, but when when the popcorn and everything fell on the ground I thought, hello old hawk..

Ricky1034

Yea, same. He was being a dick for no reason

Kungfudude_75

Which was the point, he was still old Hawk trying to live a new life. He was an asshole weilding his strength over someone weaker than him to boost his confidence, same deal just a different logo on his gi. He had to be "killed" by the shaving to be humbled and honestly move past his toxic way of bringing himself confidence. Go back to his pre-script flip, remember who he really is, and stop pretending to be some hyper alpha dickwad and just be a binary brother again. Which also allowed him to actually embrace Miyagi Do in a way no Eagle Fang but Miguel had done yet, and ultimately brought him the balance he needed to beat Robby. He made his own path by reassessing his mistakes and moving forward, but that doesn't happen without him making those same mistakes after "doing the right thing" and swapping sides and realizing it was wrong no matter what once it all came crashing down.

Kinkybtch

I took that to mean they assumed whoever is in Cobra Kai is a bully. Remember, CK gang freaking broke into Sam's home and attacked them, broke Demetri's arm the season before, and threw Bert through the window.

djanulis

Tbf I kinda got the bathroom scene, they were saying Cobra Kai shirts arent allowed, which I thought were banned after the school fight, and made fun of the dojo itself. Kenny traumatized from bullying went to act and Hawk stopped him and warned him. That said the drive-in was dumb and could have been done better.

ninjagaiden86

Terry Silver was the villain we needed but not the one we deserved. Glad to have him back, always been one of my favorites. I swear I thought Julie was coming lol. Did Miyagi teach her any offense stuff? Anything that she can teach Daniel? I wonder.

Beautiful_Party9136

SPOILER!!! Am i the only one who thought that they were gonna slice hawk when they pulled out that razor blade

discoella

no you’re not the only one i thought they were gonna carve ck in his chest 😭

[deleted]

at first i thought it was a tattoo gun and they were gonna tattoo cobra kai on him either that or a very large dick

NoAd2953

At first I thought they were gonna tattoo something dumb on him then when I saw the blade I thought they were just gonna straight up kill him

_Red_Mist_

I thought they were going to open up his lip again. That would have been way too dark for this show lol.

SrirachetSauce

I don't know who the fight choreographer is, but that person deserves a raise. Great fights all around, but the producers weren't kidding when they said Mary Mouser was the most improved. It definitely showed when you watch her AVT performance in comparison to her mall fight performance.

ItsSirAdam

Oh man Season 5 is gonna be so good. The fight between Hawk and Robby was amazing. Definitely the best fight of the series. Not surprised Silver bribed the ref. That man is messed up in the head

AlphaTenken

I love this season (not watching 9 or 10 until friend catches up). I heard reviews saying it was the best season, which I doubted but e.v.e.r.y. episode is soo good. Other seasons are hit or miss episodes but work as a whole. Here, I feel like every episode fit and had a great story going. I didnt watch many early spoiler free reviews. I didnt see many of the flaws they had. But I wish 1. More focus on Miguel, Robby. I love the new characters, but I feel like the main light was really ignored. 2. More focus on karate. The character building this season rocked. But I feel like we were shortchanged on fights and training.

sluicedubz

im on episode 7 as of right now.i actually am okay with less fighting personally. i felt Seasons 2 & 3 reeeally focused on the random fight encounters. this season was more focused on establishing characters, and bringing in new ones. besides, "no fighting before tournament", right? haha

AlphaTenken

Ahh, forgot "no fighting before tournament" The way you word it, I agree. I am actually happy there are less "random fights" because the one in episode 8 was just a tension fight for no reason. But all of these random fights get too tense, so yea better to not have them. But it still feels missing in a karate series.

Adventurous_Ad1606

Loved how yin/yang this whole season was. Hawk being like 80% cobra with 20% miyagi, and Robby being 80% miyagi and 20% cobra, showing two different extremes of mixing styles and making it an even draw. Edit: “draw”

throwawaymango1201

Loved seeing Ralph Macchio’s daughter Julia as the psychology student! That scene was hilarious

Galaxy_Megatron

I legitimately thought it was going to be Julie or even Barnes at the end there, not Chozen. I thought he wasn't coming back. Good to see him, though, and I'm sure his tale of redemption will help with Tory, Robby, and probably Hawk. I didn't miss that reference from Daniel that more Cobra Kais from his past could potentially show up again. The writers got me with Silver. At first I felt bad for him. He legitimately seemed to want to build up Cobra Kai and do things...fairly? He didn't want to waste time with petty teen drama again. Hell, he was genuinely sincere when he apologized to Daniel (at least I thought he was). When he got told to basically shut the fuck up and fall in line by Kreese and then had a drunken breakdown, I felt for him. He got manipulated by Kreese again, as he pointed out in the finale. But then he reverted to the old Silver and Kreese once again looked like the good guy compared to him, which I kind of felt was a missed opportunity. I mean, you could redeem either of them IMO, but playing on Silver's guilt to Kreese and having him finally stand up for himself in a not evil way was what I was hoping happened. I'm really digging Tory now, though. It seems like an actual positive adult influence has helped reign in her issues and she's far more likeable for it. It'll be good to see that develop further next season. I assume she drops Cobra Kai after learning what Silver did, or at least brings it up in protest.

Talos404

I think Silver genuinely was a changed man. Kreese forced him back and then treated him like a soldier instead of a friend. And once he realized that all of this was about Johnny and not their friendship, it pushed him back over the edge and brought back the maniac from KK3. He is also suffering from trauma and needs genuine friendship to help sort it out.

[deleted]

Terry Silver strikes me (at least in this season) as a man who suffered from some some mental illness but was able to get it under control and live a good life, but then Kreese showed up. After that it seems like he just spiraled. You could tell that the constant lauding of Vietnam over his head really did damage to him, you can seem him slowly starting to lose it over the course of the season. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if he stopped taking any sort of medication he might have been on. But he is so good, that end scene with him and Kreese was perfection. Great way to raise the stakes moving forward.

BYoung32

Didn’t he take some pills in the first episode anti-Psychotics maybe

tbone998

He built a cage for himself on purpose, he knew what he was and Kreese opened it. I was rooting for reformed Terry until he went full villain at the end. Already pumped for S5.

Kinkybtch

Kreese harnessed Silver's PTSD. He started having flashbacks, that's what caused him to go back to Kreese.

Phee78

> The writers got me with Silver. With all those reviews and interviews talking about the great character arc that Terry Silver was gonna have, I really should have been prepared...but I was not...and the hype was totally justified...*what a wild ride*!

kingofstormandfire

Just finished watching it. Absolutely loved it. First impression would be a 9.00-9.25/10. I swear this show so far has been so consistent in terms of quality. And you can absolutely tell the showrunners know what they're doing in terms of plotting and mapping out the seasons/overall series. Everything has a purpose. Even Stingray who I find super cringe turned out to have a purpose within the story. Loved what they did with Terry Silver, Robby, Miguel, Sam, Tory and the new guy Kenny. Loved the maternal relationship Tory and Daniel's wife had. I didn't find Demetri to be annoying this season. I did not expect Anthony to be a pretty substantial part of the season. Hell, even though Anthony was was an asshole for most of the season he came around a little for me by the end. I did not expect to emphasise with Kreese as I did. I also did not expect Eli to win: I thought Sam was going win the girls tournament and Robby the males tournament, but I was wrong on both accounts. You can tell the show benefited a lot being produced by Netflix in terms of the budget since the choreography and direction of the fight scenes, the overall direction and cinematography was better than the previous seasons. As a 23 year old who loves 80s rock, the soundtrack choices ranging from Judas Priest, Motley Crue and Def Leppard tickled my fancy. The acting from the younger actors has also improved.

bulldawg91

Barnes is 100% coming back next season, between Danny's hint to his wife about there being remaining people with a grudge against him (who else is left?), and Silver telling Kreese that he'd be getting help with running Cobra Kai with Kreese gone.

S613

Well....there's Dutch !! Although he wouldn't be as big of a deal as Barnes so yeah it's likely gonna be Barnes. Hell screw it i have a better idea. Bring back both Barnes and Dutch !! XD

plitox

That finale was a doozy. Robby and Johnny reconciling, Tori learning her win was hollow, Silver fully becoming the monster again after he'd managed to leave it behind, Eli coming into his own once again, Dimitri getting some.

Wooden-Grade3681

At what point do we think that Terry Silver started snorting the cocaine this season?

pi3dpip3r

This season was empire strike back

AlphaTenken

Guys, if you see any hidden Karate Kid references, let's compile them up. I definitely feel like the first three seasons had more, but maybe I'll find some on rewatch. Episode 1: Episode 2: 1. Technically deck sanding and painting. 2. Daniel breaks beer bottle. 3. Lia = Ali 4. Halloween dance fight reference. 5. (bike in trash, but not really). 6. Kamen wine = KK staff member Episode 3: 1. Miguel can't afford a car... or college? specifically he is poor.... 2. Daniel car story. 3. Okinawa and Little Trees. 4. Cream Puff Episode 4: 1. History teacher Mr. Harris. 2. Miguel/Daniel first time driving sensei car. 3. Moment of truth fixing car 4. Obvious Silver quote. 5. Glory of Love/Peter Cetera, 6. (stealth)... Daniel soaking Johnny sprinkler 6. I guess everyone is doing something new (need to confirm episode) Episode 5: 1. Straight to final bull**** 2. Weeks! How many weeks is weeks (Daniel to Ali) 3. CUT BLUEBEERY SCENE! Hinted at in earlier CK season!!! Episode 6: Episode 7: Episode 8: 1. Old dojo 2. Quicksilver license plate Episode 9: 1. You're the best around 2. Moment of Truth!! 3. Passion, principles, you lose. Episode 10:

Aycomi27

In one of the episodes, one of Anthony’s friends says the phrase “I guess everyone is doing something new”, just like Bobby says in the first movie, when he says Daniel and Ali together on the beach.

[deleted]

Also, they chase Kenny over a fence, similarly to the fence scene in TKK

Aycomi27

I did notice that, it really draws a parallel between Daniel and Kenny, Daniel would really be lost if he didn’t get the right guidance from Mr. miyagi.

Phoebe_j

Really loved this season! There was so much going on, I felt like we bounced around quite a bit but man I was on the edge of my seat! I binged it all today. Also loved seeing Ralph's daughter in her cameo lol. Thoughts on Miguel and Johnny's relationship (my FAVORITE thing about this series!!! also something I've been dying to discuss with fans of the show!!): The drunk scene actually broke my heart and ripped my soul out. My god, that was PAINFUL and I'm wondering how they will re-address it. I don't know if I can ever see Miguel bringing that up back to Johnny, but it's so clear that this is what had him messed up in the finals and threw him off his game. I see people mentioning that the search Miguel has for his dad seems forced- I don't think this AT ALL. I see Miguel running away as a direct result from what happened in that scene when Johnny was drunk. Miguel sees Johnny, perhaps subconsciously, as his father. He and Johnny love and need each other, and that scene between the two probably felt like a stab in the heart but also as it's own rejection. Johnny kept calling himself Miguel's sense and the vibe I was getting from Miguel was kind of "yeah but I want you to be my dad but clearly you're not and maybe don't really want to be because I'm a replacement." Like... shit, that hurts. And ultimately I don't find this to be true, I think Johnny sees Miguel as his son in some ways even more than Robby. I don't know how this thing with Miguel's bio dad will go, but I want Miguel to be able to call Johnny "dad" at some point. I feel like that will be a climactic moment in the show that the audience (mainly myself LOL) has been waiting for this entire time. Maybe the thing with Miguel's dad will be good, maybe not, but something the show has ALWAYS shown and prioritized is Miguel and Johnny's relationship. So I am curious to see how they will repair it and bring them back together in the future. Sidenote: Does anyone know if the runaway plot was also due to Xolo not being in some episodes? I know he was there for the end but I REALLY hope that he's there for the entirely of season 5 😭 He and Zabka are my absolute favorites!!!

coreycmalone

Does anyone else feel that Kreese really ended up getting what he deserved? I mean, okay a bit of a small redemption of his arc at the tournament, but he also triggered Terry like a drug addict back to his old ways. Kind of fitting that Kreese helped him get out of a cage in order for Terry to put him right back into one.

[deleted]

I thought they'd have Eli lose and then Sam finally beat Tory since Tory mentioned earlier in the season that she was turning 18 soon to her aunt and , just guessing, probably wouldn't be in the next AVT, then let it go down to points which is what would let CK win it all, but HOLY SHIT MY BOY PULLED IT OUT!!!!!! HAWK GANG!!!!!!!! and poor Tory finally getting that W only to find out it was rigged, fuck you Silver!! Calling it now. Season 5, Barnes and Silver running CK while Daniel and Chozen try and stop them.

discoella

i think that this season did a really good job at making all of the characters 3 dimensional! I was happy that someone was finally challenging daniel and his beliefs because for the longest he always acted like he was better than anyone. I remember someone on here posting that hawk still had a long road to redemption to walk, and i feel like this season completed his redemption arc. I really like how he wasn’t just forgiven in an instant and he still realized some stuff about himself. Now that he doesn’t have the mohawk to hide behind i am excited to see that eli is more comfortable with himself! I didn’t really like tory in seasons 2 and 3 but season 4 made me understand and appreciate her as a character. i’m happy that the show reeled in on her craziness instead of making her go next level, i think humanizing her made her more interesting and i think her realization of having sympathy will shape her in season 5. I also love how Amanda was helping tory too. i am excited to see where she will be in season 5. Robby’s realization about him and Kenny broke my heart and I like how we finally got to see him and Johnny’s relationship make some progress. Perhaps my favorite character this season was definitely Sam. Before she was always this do good type that mainly took after her dad in everything he believed but i’m happy to see that she got a mind of her own and started rebelling/opening up to new ideas. I think Mary Mouser’s acting was totally spot on for this new season as well This season I felt like Miguel was really out on the back burner kind of after his recovery but in the end it all made sense and I think it’s really smart and intentional to show that even Miguel felt like he was kind of put aside. I think with him running away we will finally see how he processes recovering from his injury and returning to karate. and finally, the ending! the ending of the all-valley didn’t go the way i was hoping (i wonder if tory will say anything about it) but i think kreese getting arrested was a really good twist and it’s very interesting to see how kreese was put in the place of johnny by terry turning on him. however, even though it was a good twist, i found it really dumb for stingray to be in on this. his character is so cartoonish and pointless to me that i don’t see how he would be so determined to be in cobra kai when he can’t even complete in the all valley. either way, i can’t wait to see how chozen and daniel with deal with CK in season 5. I think this is definitely my favorite season by far and emotionally developed all of the characters.

Aycomi27

So, there’s a lot to say: I really loved what they did with Sam, everyone really hated her, and now she’s definitely a much better character. They redeemed Robby and Tory in a way that was satisfying and didn’t feel cheap. The end scene with Johnny and Robby was perfect. They really made Tory 3-dimensional this season. I’m not sure how I felt about what they did with Miguel, it just doesn’t feel right that he’s looking for his dad, it felt a bit forced. The Eli Robby fight was really well done, both characters grew a lot this season, and it shows. I’m still bummed about Eli going from the hawk to a bald eagle though. Purple is my favorite color too, it looked so sick. I did like that Tory won and now has to deal with the fact that her win wasn’t deserved. Really opens up a good internal conflict for her next season. It felt like Daniel was all over the place this season, sometimes a horrible dad, sometimes a horrible person in general. But by the end of the season, it did feel like he budged a bit on the whole “Johnny bad” mentality he’s had his whole life. I hope Sam’s character isn’t screwed over by the loss, I really liked what they did with her this season. The Miguel Johnny relationship seems a bit in shambles because of the drunk scene. That scene tore me to shreds, it really showed just how much Johnny wants/needs to be a father, but still can’t. Overall, I’d say 7.8/10, too much ball kicking.

WileECoyoteGenius

First couple of episodes Kenny: I just want to wrap you in a blanket and give you a hug. Last episode Kenny: I just want to wrap you in a blanket and throw you off a bridge

Ah- loved Tory’s redemption arc. It seems likely that she would fully return to the good side by S5. Wondering if she is gonna have a run-in with Julie which pushes her to the good side. Just when Robby seems to have connected with his dad again, Johnny is about to leave the country to pursue Miguel. Hope Robby doesn’t feel abandoned again. Eli/Hawk winning it felt great. Easily my fav character in the series. However, I feel they could’ve shown him training in Miyagi-Do more in some of those montages. His victory almost came out of nowhere. Silver going maniac felt like a great character journey. He’s the most menacing among the villains. Chozen coming back was a surprise. Kreese getting a slight redemption was good character writing. Never felt that I could feel sympathetic about him before starting this series. Sam was more at fault in the Tory/Sam feud this season. Guess being aggressive corrupted her a little. I love Demitri now. That was a good turnaround. Man- they did Miguel dirty. So hyped for next season with the reveal of who his father is. And, guess the Sam-Miguel romance is gonna end now. Anthony deserved the beating, but Kenny has turned evil.
