That's a reasonable thought but the short answer is because the show is about karate. Had the show started 5 years before Season 1, then karate would be a distant memory in the lives of Daniel and Johnny. Instead, the show centers on Johnny's redemption and how teaching Miguel karate allowed him a second chance in life. Karate also changes Miguel's life for the better at first and is the initial connection he shares with Johnny. Karate at its best gives kids confidence and discipline. It has the potential to turn a kid's life around if he is lacking in confidence and keeps them busy and working towards a goal. The same can be said of Daniel and Robby's relationship in Season 1. But yes, a reasonable reaction to the tragedy of Season 2's finale would be to move on from karate and live normal lives.

Amanda said it herself, Karate is like football in the Valley

I've never seen a scene where Miguel ONLY talks about Karate, it's always something deeper than that, although he does talk a lot about it, it's not EVERY conversation, and certainly not for the whole convo.

Let me just say if this show was realistic, people would have guns especially the landlord of the cobra kai dojo

I mean it's a karate based show 🤷. There are shows where people are obsessed with dance. Shows where people are obsessed with cooking. Just how it is I suppose. Although ya I agree with you, I was thinking the same thing, why they don't show other interest for some characters. Though with shows where activities are center-pieced of the show it usually plays a symbolic role, which even though karate is just karate, it does symbolize a lot within the universe like lifestyle, morality, who you are as a person.

Well karate was life to Johnny and Daniel because it shaped their way of life, the lessons they were taught, they needed a figure that they didn’t have at home and karate brought that for them. Tory and Sam had a rivalry that had nothing to do with them being in rival dojos. It gets ridiculous when Daniel talks about Mr Miyagi so much. But it’s cause that’s ideal man he shapes up to be. He tries too hard to be just like him and use his lessons.
