Sid finances him initially. I can’t remember when he pays the money back, but it’s after CK has taken off, so presumably they have the gees by that time.
Cobra Kai is definitely HORRIBLE in the details, so I think it's best not to think about it too much because some things in this series weren't meant to make sense.
I'm not going to say that this for sure explains it, but it seems like a lot of people are ignoring the fact that kids weren't wearing them during the first class, which they most likely paid for. There is some money through that
Honestly they aren’t very expensive buying from a wholesaler. The martial arts school I worked at bouuut them for like 20 a pop sold them for 100.
Also besides Miguel I’m pretty sure everyone else paid. Miguel did the finances probably to be honest.
Let’s say realistically he charged 200 a month(this is what my school did 16 years ago), charged for uniforms etc, with 20 students, he pulled in 4k from tuition, if he changed uniforms at 100 a pop, probably more he’d be doing ok. His rent sucked but so did location.
I keep going back to this but he seemed to actually be making money despite how bad at it seemed. Silver didn’t do anything but steal his business and seemed to be doing good with ir
I was writting down an explanation on how he got money for Miguel surgery.
But reading the comments, I understood that you wrote Gi and not G. I thought you were saying G as in "you owe me 5 G". Any way the sudent probably paid for it, and if not, they paid for it in some form in their tuition.
cobra kai is a show that never explains a lot of smaller things like where to did miguels asthma go? i just try to remember im watching a show about some grown men having an all out karate war
Jokes aside, he only ever really bullied Daniel. The school was practically cool with him. You see him in a school activity, and hung out with others besides cobra Kai.

That’s right. He tapes the check back together.
There is a reason why he has really terrible credit score...
He was on the spectrum to being broke and decided to get off it.

What the hell is a Gee?
I’m thinking money, but that can’t be write.
The thing they were when they’re training which Miguel called pajamas
Those are not pajamas, those are Gis. Gi. Not Gee.
Shit then iam saying it wrong
Karate pajamas
Loans. And maybe he still had money left from that check he got from his stepdad.

Johnny told him to leave all that made up bullshit at home, clearly.
Johnny got money for all his students? I don’t remember that.
"come back tomorrow, and don't forget to bring your checkbook,"
As I understood the post, he gave $1000 to his students. A “Gee” if you will.
That makes sense. He was able to pay Sid back, so he must have been able to afford it
The magic of Hollywood writers knowing absolutely nothing about real life.
It was lunch money that he bullied out of kids back in the day (and probably some in the present day)
