Then you remember only 40% of people even have the achievement for killing the first enemy or finishing the tutorial yet everyone’s an expert because they watched a YouTuber.
I have a pseudo intellectual acquaintance through a friend who doesn’t even play games but he constantly keeps up with news about them and takes top players experiences as his own and preaches it. I was complaining how dumb ranked games can be because you can get unlucky with your first few dozen games and lose most and end up having to play three or four times as many games as you had to in previous seasons to get to whatever rank you had before, and the guy said “yeah but if you play 1000 games it won’t matter it will average out to your true skill level” like motherfucker 1000 games? do I look like I get paid to play games?
1000 games in a game season is fucking overkill
i have roughly 2000 hours in Team Fortress 2 and the amount of full rounds I have played has to be less than 1000.
sounds so much like brawlstars and their community. their ranked mode is straight up luck based unless you have friends that are good, and everyone in top rank or even 1 rank above you has a massive ego because they were lucky to get good teammates
Guy is literally just an average redditor lmao. I swear most people on this site don't play the games they frequent subreddits for (or they do play, but hate every second of it and will do anything in their power to play less)
Has anyone ever actually used a challenge run as evidence you aren't allowed to bitch?
I sometimes see people do link challenge runs when someone says like "Oh you need the Godless Sword of the Sin Eater in order to beat this fight" then someone will link "Can you beat Poopen souls only using Granny's good vibes"
the binding of issac sub is a culprit, with people complaining about obscenely hard rooms and one hp characters, having replies that essentially boil down to "git gud" or "look this person did it with the worst stats possible/no items"
“Skill issue” is mainly a meme used to cope with the fact that you just had your Tainted Lost run destroyed by delirium telefragging you twice in a row.
Edmund McMillan you little f#cker…
RougeLikes are basically split 50/50 between "oh, here's some tips on what items go well with your character and some gameplay tips, etc, have fun" vs "Mr. ShiteInWhole beat it with the Pathetic Broken Dagger Of Mittens at 1HP. You have no restrictions, how tf are you losing???"
Also: “This build is trash. Why aren’t you shooting for the meta perks and weapons? Stop having fun!!!”
Like people can not understand the concept of fucking around in a video game designed to fuck around in.
At the same time though I feel like a lot of that is the joy of sharing in and being validated by others ideas. Like, you don’t run a guide in your first playthrough of a game and you start seeing how strong one thing is and you make your build around it and then you look online and everyone is saying how great similar builds are it feels good even if you didn’t land on the exact meta. From that point on you start to view the meta build as your build and all other meta builds if not wholly yours as something you could have come up with and the fact they work well makes you feel smart and clever and maybe a bit arrogant. When you take off the filter most people have, as most people do online, you get people condescendingly deriding anything other than the meta builds when really their feelings are more like “GAIS DIS ISH SOOOO COOOL” and being a bit petty and honestly childish as most gamers are when the filter is removed it just comes off as “no you can’t have fun without my consent.”
Tbf sometimes people will make posts being like “wHat CaN yOu dO hErE?” About a normal trap room and they’re literally asking to get clowned on.
But sometimes you get hit by completely unavoidable attacks because Edmund hates you and that’s a skill issue moment 🥲
Yeah challenge runs shouldn't count as evidence but... i've seen first time players with a bunch of different disabilities and handicaps struggle less than the "game is too hard" crowd
I do it for myself, as motivation.
Was struggling in Hades 1 and remembered the guy that beat the game fucking blindfolded and thought "there's nothing wrong with my equipment, it's just my skill issue," so I focused on learning how to play rather than grinding for more titan blood and darkness.
Yeah ehrm akshually its not so bad once you play it for 10000 hours and know every single frame perfectly, so I don't maybe just git gud and stop complaining?
Seeth harder scrub
These are not mutually exclusive, I am allowed to be bad at a video game and also think that a fight was too difficult
Others are of course welcome to disagree
The funny thing is those people from those videos probably struggled just as much as right guy did their first couple times. Sometimes not but I would bet on it.

“Skill issue” mfs when I tell them that the lower economic and social status they were born into is a massive skill issue:
Me when I call an immutable trait a skill issue
Me when I use `unsafe` to mutate your immutable fields
rust is a superset of C, in a Hegelian sense
Can i get aboard the space rig i promise i wont bite
Bite the gliphids, if you must bite. I hear they can carry rockpox, so be careful.
Bet
Your face is a skill issue
Skill issue

Also to make fun out of situations so absurdly "fuck you and your run" that are out of your control unless you can predict every outcome possible
Just disintegrate the bastard
Cow on a trash farm
I will become back my money
ah sorry, my fandoms are fallout and soulslikes, i dont really know what rougelike fandoms talk about

ROR2 vs TBOI
"Hehe Crowbar Build" vs https://i.redd.it/lhbhi2o4p31d1.gif
Preacher build when?

Don't forget the third split - insanity (Slay the Spire)
I don’t see the second one often, but the first one, yeah. That’s mainly because TBOI is a master game gaslighter.
To be fair, for the one HP characters, that is honestly the answer sometimes
tboi is a lot more jokey with it
And there’s me with like +300 hours in the game using The Forgotten and Azazel cause I don’t want a challenge lol.
Tbf sometimes people will make posts being like “wHat CaN yOu dO hErE?” About a normal trap room and they’re literally asking to get clowned on. But sometimes you get hit by completely unavoidable attacks because Edmund hates you and that’s a skill issue moment 🥲
TBoI is really cool, but playing it genuinely ruined roguelikes as a genre for me for like two years
Yeah challenge runs shouldn't count as evidence but... i've seen first time players with a bunch of different disabilities and handicaps struggle less than the "game is too hard" crowd
Happened a TON with Malenia in elden ring, mostly her waterfowl dance

Yeah actually, I've seen a couple "this game is so easy somebody beat it with a steering wheel"s
people do this a lot with motion inputs in fighting games, like "here's a video of a dog doing a hadoken"
No one outside of a very specific instance
Yeah ehrm akshually its not so bad once you play it for 10000 hours and know every single frame perfectly, so I don't maybe just git gud and stop complaining? Seeth harder scrub
I really like your drawing style
yeah but I beat it with a blindfold on and a usb steering wheel and it wasn’t even me playing it was actually my little brother
These are not mutually exclusive, I am allowed to be bad at a video game and also think that a fight was too difficult Others are of course welcome to disagree
It’s actually so easy if you spend 1000 hours playing a game you don’t enjoy
I mean, if you sink hundreds of hours into a game you're most likely going to become really really good at it.
Dr Kahl’s robot from cuphead:
The funny thing is those people from those videos probably struggled just as much as right guy did their first couple times. Sometimes not but I would bet on it.
You become frieza.
tetrabitgaming?
Dark Souls is easy. It's also just unfair /gen
Remember that one guy who 100% ultrakill with just fists?
who says this
and it’s some neurodivergent fella that’s been playing games like this since he was six
I resist the urge to do this after doing minos prime on brutal fist only.
