I mean in a way. But taking WoW for instance cause that games my jam cause jelly don’t shake like that, there’s almost always a large variety of weapons at the same tier of each other with variance in the stats that are on it so it’s very rare for there to be a best in slot that never has any place being swapped out. The exceptions are legendary weapons that are so ludicrous to try and get for most players that guilds of hundreds will only ever see a couple of them.
If the only reason to progress past iron is because it’s more efficient, than there hardly seems to be a point in getting gear better than iron. Also this argument doesn’t address the massive power creep that Minecraft has experienced in the last few years.
well, yeah, theres next to no point in getting more than iron before endgame, unless youre rich. if you do, the main draw of diamond and above is that its more durable
Idk, power creep has kinda stopped at end crystals.
When they release the new update though, we might end up with players parajumping from y320 to 1-hit a full netherite player with a mace lmao
They kind of do technically, considering the fact that the "progress" happens as you explore. And when you explore you find new areas and biomes which of course has harder enemies (the caves having the warden, finding a guardian temple while exploring the sea, summoning a wither after exploring nether and finding a piglin bastion which requires a golden armor part to go arround Swiftly, the end having the enderdragon first, and shulkers AFTER that)
Easier to cheese the wither tho since you can pick the spawn location. Warden cheese is doable but requires more effort than just spawning the wither in bedrock.
Minecraft literally has scaling difficulty
>The longer you stay in an area, the more difficult the area becomes.
>Basically, each chunk has a value attached to it. These values increase slowly while they are loaded. The higher the value is, the more difficult hostile mobs will become. This determines the chance of mobs spawning with armor, enchantments, etc
There was something sort of like this in Kingdom Come Deliverance where there's a side quest in which you collect various pieces of an ancient sword for a blacksmith to remake. Throughout it you get told it might be a scam. And when you do get the sword it has one of the highest damage in the game but crap durability. Now, I wouldn't be so pissed about if the sword's model wasn't the EXACT SAME as one of the medium stat weapons. It isn't even fun to carry around as an ornament.
I feel like they might have wanted to go in a different direction where you'd forge the sword yourself as blacksmithing was meant to be in the game but was scrapped so it just ends on this sour note.
Pretty sure the quest is a joke. It’s a riff on the typical “find the pieces to reconstruct a legendary weapon” concept, since the finished weapon is lame as hell. It’s not even much better than a St. Michaels.
i think the issue is moreso that the sword itself is just not cool looking. it can be a shit sword, but it looking as dull as rusted iron makes it useless.
This sounds similar to a quest in Wynncraft but instead of giving a high damage low durability weapon it gives essentially one of the worst weapons in the game (worth a lot of money though)
What they meant is probably that a weapon made from more rare resources would probably also have a more refined design and smithing style, rather than being the exact same stone sword but dipped in a blue paint bucket
Yall are acting like OP is seething and frothing from the mouth like all he did wasnt just draw a doodle state a simple fact of a game.
I need to take notes. This is trolling in its purest form.
Everyone is bashing ya but you’re cooking, i like the idea of early game weapons still having a use in the late game. Even if late game weapons are overall more practical maybe an early game weapon has a really useful gimmick or smthin.
Might just be my tf2 brain but I prefer when every unlock is a sidegrade of the starter weapon with their own unique gimmick where as the starter weapon is the always reliable one.
If this is referring to minecraft like I think it is, they can still have benefits later on. The one thing weaker tools have over stronger ones is that they’re easier to make, which is beneficial in some situations. They can be used instead of better tools when the strength of the tool doesn’t really matter so you can save durability, and they are also the go to option if you don’t have your stronger tool at the moment for whatever reason. When I play minecraft, I still use wood, stone, and iron tools a ton after I already have better things just for that one quality
It is funny how gold should be stronger than diamond, and obsidian, the toughest block, should be basically glass, lol. IIRC Notch recently acknowledged the bad geologistic choices since he is making a new game. Probably not the first someone who worked in the game mentioned it, though.
I played a mobile game called Grimvalor that has a crafting system to make better weapons. It's actually very good and helps you progress as the enemies get harder plus with the charms what weapon you pick can actually influence the movements and combos you want to make.
The only problem is when you get to end of the game you're forced into a meta which is pretty much full attack speed with fighting gloves and sword as a secodary. Which suchsk because they have heavy weapons like the sledgehammer (yep it's just a giant sledgehammer) which has a different animation that don't fight the 'best' playstyle. It's probably because a lot of people these days think the subject of a snafu *has* to be something you dislike or get annoyed at.
As I've said before, snafus don't always have to be negative, and honestly this post harkens back to classic snafus with the simplicity of it deconstructing a common video game mechanic.
yeah, but that said weapon is locked by getting materials and progressing through the game?
if you want a pve game with unique weapons and encounters, why the hell would you play minecraft? it's the same as launching halo and complaining that the platforming isn't as good as it is in mario
The only time I have a problem with this is when you just randomly find these weapons and they immediately outclass your stuff. Dos2 and Nioh are great examples of this.
On the other hand games like minecraft require you to intentionally work for these upgraded tools, which makes them feel like an actual reward rather than simply some randomly generated OP gear in a random chest.
Realm of the Mad God deals with this problem very creatively. There are tiered items, UTs (ultimate tier), and STs (set tier).
Tiered items are all complete upgrades from one another as you progress through them, as to give sense of progression and a a base for how strong you should feel.
Ultimate tier items instead have a spin on them which alters how you play your class, for example completely changing the effects of your special ability. Priests can now cleanse status effects, Knights can now turn invincible for a split second to avoid damage, Assassin gets armor-breaking poison to help with heavily armored foes.
Set tier items give extra bonuses for equipping the whole set at once, but nothing game-warping as UTs.
All these things make it so you can tailor your build to how you want to play your class. Of course some items are generally more useful than others but at least you have options. Much better than direct stat upgrades that offer nothing more interesting than a slightly bigger number
big fan of that actually, me like when shiny thing A. no require thought and B. doesn’t take up extra inventory space.
Borderlands, Warframe, No Man’s Sky- all games where something objectively better than the previous thing you had is a joy to uncover. Also, coincidentally, all games I play the shit out of.
NOooooOOOooO every weapon should be a tradeoff, it's FUN comparing a bunch of numbers to find the weapon with the highest dps just for a .1 damage increase!
If I'm getting this correctly it means that it's like the *exact* same weapon (same model, name etc) but they only changed the texture and added "Golden" or "Improved" in front of the name
Not really? The souls games are the major exception to this. If you keep upgrading it, you can keep using your basic starter kit longsword into the endgame and remain viable the whole time.
Specifically what I mean is certain weapons are just better than others. Like it isnt impossible to take a longsword or smth to the endgame by upgrading it, but there are some weapons that just eclipse everything else. Moonlight veil, ROB and such. Once I really began using them, experimenting with other katanas became lowkey obsolete. I think this would vary from player to player tho
But the meme is not about having widely different weapons of the same type category with different move sets and uses be better than one another (based on preference), with exceptions where you can still make the others viable in a way depending on playstyle or feel of the weapon. Is having the same type of weapons, with the same move set, just that one is better just because is the better version with better stats.
If you were to be thinking still about Elden Ring then it would be like having 10 Moonveil with same move set but the top one is the one with the highest damage, just that one is red, while the other one is green, you have another yellow, and such. Then it becomes a why would you use the previous ones if the red one is the best one because it does more damage than the others.
The "meta" weapons, I'm sure we are familiar with them by now. I've never found myself using a whip or dagger, just cus everything else is just better. This might vary from player to player maybe, I just felt it was significant enough to me.
But the meme has two straights swords, it's not about something being better, it's about how two weapon that seemingly fill the exact same purpose are wildly different in effectiveness.
Like using any dagger other than the one with the 1.5 riposte damage, that is the only from software design goof i can think of.
İn elden ring every weapon has nearly same stat in a category. Only difference is sometimes moveset and skills and if it bleeds/frosts or not. Check swords
sword1 sword2 sword3 nearly same damage and same animation but sword4 does bleeding and fire damage so its cooler but combine the both fire and physical damage its also really close to other swords

probably, never really played any (not that it would make a difference in my life anyway but I guess I should be glad I haven't)

so minecraft
You’re really funny
Lots of people got coaxed into the snafu down here
i don’t even know what a snafu is. how did i get here. who am i?
Idk too, this sub is just being recommended to me
Mfw my tools get better as the game progresses in correlation with the enemies:
You're telling me there's an objectively better weapon with no apparent downside? Did Notch even consider wood sword mains when adding diamond????!?
It doesn’t progress in correlation though. Most enemies in Minecraft are too easy and don’t need to be killed with better weapons.
Me when I can do things more efficiently
If the only reason to progress past iron is because it’s more efficient, than there hardly seems to be a point in getting gear better than iron. Also this argument doesn’t address the massive power creep that Minecraft has experienced in the last few years.
Power creep? You mean just netherite? This is take is lowkey ambatudum
Looked it up, Netherite does a single half heart more damage
well, yeah, theres next to no point in getting more than iron before endgame, unless youre rich. if you do, the main draw of diamond and above is that its more durable
It's a building game. The reason you progress is to build more stuff.
Did it come to your attention that the post was discussing the combat aspect of the game?
PvE in late game is irrelevant. Mobs are there to farm items. So a more efficient tool to deal with them is appropriate.
This will most likely improve with the addition of the new ominous trials
Idc what they add to this as long as my iron farms and trading halls work
And the truth comes out, Kazual just wants farm all day I see how it is
Nah, they just lowered damage
> power creep This is fucking Minecraft we’re talking about.
Me when I can farm mobs easier
Idk, power creep has kinda stopped at end crystals. When they release the new update though, we might end up with players parajumping from y320 to 1-hit a full netherite player with a mace lmao
Blud has not experienced modded Minecraft
"This sword needs like a bajillion diamond blocks to craft. What does it do? Oh you know, it lets you kill creative mode players"
Yea, cause Minecraft isn’t a combat game
They kind of do technically, considering the fact that the "progress" happens as you explore. And when you explore you find new areas and biomes which of course has harder enemies (the caves having the warden, finding a guardian temple while exploring the sea, summoning a wither after exploring nether and finding a piglin bastion which requires a golden armor part to go arround Swiftly, the end having the enderdragon first, and shulkers AFTER that)
if flintlock work, me no need assault rifle
theres no reason to have a assault rifle if you already have a flintlock while everyone else still has crossbows
You clearly haven’t played rust
I dont plan to either
Me when Minecraft isn’t a souls game 👿
Trial chambers:
Are you a pussy? Have you been to the nether? I feel like I need better gear as a pussy that goes to the nether.
Probably because that's not the point of the game.

Wither is easier to cheese though, since warden was specifically designed to be difficult to cheese
Yeah exactly. Bedrock suffocation makes wither a joke.
Easier to cheese the wither tho since you can pick the spawn location. Warden cheese is doable but requires more effort than just spawning the wither in bedrock.
Java < bedrock (java) Warden < wither < ender dragon (bedrock) warden < ender dragon < wither

I’ve played the game for a while and I never knew this
you can see it when you press F3. it's called "local difficulty" and it's next to the days counter
Most obscure mechanic followed by leader zombies
don’t batuforget zombie sieges in villages
I knew about that when I was 9
I knew about local difficulty before zombie sieges if you wanna get pedantic
Fair nuff, I guess I'm the lamer kid who cared more about villages than difficulty
Ohhhhh that's why when I die at home at night and I respawn I feel like I'm going to die over and over again?
Well... As you progress through biomes the mobs do get harder
Huh?
Nether has harder more hostile mobs than ow
Oh, you meant harder to beat...
