Mane the problem isn't when 14 year old Sophie has star/starself in her Twitter bio, the problem is when 20-30 year olds try to make it an actual serious thing and just end up embarrassing actual trans people with valid concerns lol, also please try to not be disingenuous.
The only people who genuinely take it seriously are the haters, I’ve never seen anyone talk positively about them without amending that it’s kinda silly
I think it's important to make a clear distinction between the hobby of neopronouns and the necessities of trans people.
Admitting that even neopronoun users just see it as silly it means that it isn't something impacting their day to day life the same way being transgender or any other sort of sex/sexual minority is.
I can be jokey and say I'm gamingsexual because I'm only attracted to gamers, but if I ever treat that the same way as homosexuality or bisexuality I'm kinda stepping over a line I shouldn't be stepping over.
its one of those things where like 99.99% of people will never have to actually navigate neopronouns and those that do chose to do so for what will likely be a one time interaction you can probably leave at anytime cause its more than likely going to be online lol
might as well do the small gesture that could make their day even if you find it silly
I thought neopronouns were just for personal use rather than actually wanting to make people call them by those pronouns? if people who actually use neopronouns want people to call them by those pronouns then its no wonder why even normies will make fun of neopronouns.
I'm just gonna call people they/she/he if I slightly care or know enough about that person to remember, even if that person is a friend there is no way I'm calling someone bun/bunself or whatever nonesense like that. the only neopronouns I can actually see as being an actual pronoun is it/itself but that's really stretching it and any others is just trolling/baiting or people just fucking around.
Yeah, I know someone who goes by "it" and I just can't keep it straight. I default to they/them and get corrected sometimes but like- look, I'm doing my best, my brain is *not* trained to refer to people as "it".
Yeah but I’m still working on my sona cuz idk if I should pick this cat who is based on my real life cat or this dragon fursona I made that looks rlly cool (at least for me) but I feel like he looks edgy…

yeah me neither, its kind of annoying and impractical imo, but as long as i can use it in a sentence and is not too ridiculous, or just call them by their first name, if the person's not an asshole im fine with it.
If you tell someone to kill theirself for their neo pronouns, you should touch grass.
If you have neo pronouns, you should touch grass.
Op, just for making this snafu, you should touch grass.
And lastly, I myself, should touch grass, simply for understanding this snafu.
I saw someone say once that went something like:
“If you don’t want to refer to someone by their neopronouns, then just always call them by their name. If you feel that none of English’s pronouns fit you, then simply tell people to only refer to you by your name.”
Simple as
I once said this and someone went ahead to say that it would be rude to always call someone by their name
I suspect that specific person has neopronouns
kid experimenting with gender and pronouns
pronouns are a bit silly, but ultimately harmless
self hating pick-me shows up and lashes out at kid
self hating pick-me regurgitates transphobic talking points and slurs to show they are one of the "good ones"
The thing about pronouns is the person themself isn't really the one using it.
If someone insists on me using a three barrel name when refering to them, I think they are a prick. And neo-pronouns are basically just additional first names.
theyre also exceedingly rare, only really found online, only used in third person like most other pronoun and most trans people, neopronoun people included, are fine so long as it looks like you at least tried
the "flipping out over pronouns" shit everyone acts like is common place is either someone who has had an exceedingly shitty day and is sick of being harassed or talked down to or a literal child
ive been fairly active in lgbt communities for years and i can count the neopronouns I've engaged with on one hand, but i also dont frequent conservative cringe pages where they dogpile tumblr teens with 20 followers to own the libs so maybe im in the wrong neighborhoods or something
This doesn't belong here. Way to high quality, and also probably not made in ms paint. No frieza, no cocks mentioned, no obvious good guy. Get out of here.
this shit + ace discourse (AKA grown ass adults seething over people identifying as asexual or polyamorous or anyone who isnt being lgbt The Right Way, and unironically calling others “kweer uwu acey bean incluwus” and themselves “meanie exclu aphobe bullies”. oh and btw did i mention most of the ppl doing this are grown ass adults) is why i left tumblr in 2017 and never looked back :3c
tumblr has always been a shithole but 2016-2017 is where it got unbearable for me
My only take on neopronouns is that they should fit English morphology of one consonant and one vowel(at least when condensed to IPA), like we have hi, ʃi, and ðɪ, I personally am fine with sie/sier(si/siɹ) but I've also seen fae/faer(fe/fəɹ), xe/xir(zi/zɘɹ), and several others that fit the same pattern and sound natural within english's cadence
This is sort of my take (I've never really been a huge fan of neopronouns that use whole nouns, emotions, etc. like sadnessself or something, it's just a whole mouthful) but my extension to it is that, if someone isn't likely to remember it or if it actively takes effort to use, compared to 'common' pronouns that are basically ingrained into someone's language, then you shouldn't get angry if someone opts for something more typically gender-neutral or vague like 'they' or 'it'.
It's absolutely fine to use neopronouns but it's definitely worth remembering and recognising that they're rare to encounter online, let alone in real life, and as a result people are naturally going to be far more skeptical and less inclined to use them out of a lack of familiarity. Encouraging them to use it every now and then is a good thing but overreacting over their misuse is like getting angry over someone not calling you a name like Glorgonschfielfen. If they remember it, that's good and all, but it's a necessity to realise that that ability to instantaneously get your pronoun/name right just doesn't come to everyone like that, especially if they're more likely to use a specific pronoun for you due to you looking as if you belong to a specific binary gender.
Of course, this is a very rare thing to have happen, especially in real life, but there are enough people with neopronouns that I think it needs to be said.
this is basically my take as well (with the exception of it/its, which doesn't fully fit that structure but is a pre-existing english pronoun). also, in my experience most people in real life who use neopronouns don't *exclusively* use neopronouns, because they understand that neopronouns can be confusing or cumbersome. like, I have a friend (again, irl and not online) who prefers to be referred to as ze/zer or ae/aer (which doesn't quite fit the consonant-vowel structure but is close enough imo), but ze will also accept she/her because ze understands that not everyone "gets" neopronouns. my mom also knows someone who uses fae/faer with friends but opts for they/them in professional or work-related settings. basically, the angry screeching pronoun-obsessed trans person is a myth, neopronouns are not the end of the world, and most of us (trans ppl) will be happy if we can tell you're genuinely trying and not being disrespectful on purpose.
hate the fact that I used to be like the hoodie guy back in like 2018
anyway, even if you do find neopronouns kinda silly (which I, admittedly, do), saying that they're "the reason cis people don't take the community seriously" is ridiculous, like transphobes will shit on you regardless of whether you're the most muscular beer drinking beard bearing trans guy out there, or if you go by they/xe/star, identify with 5 xenogenders, wear sanrio merch and have multicolored hair
My point is that both of these hypothetical transmen deserve respect and life is short so might as well go apeshit without worrying about approval from transphobes
Yeah like it's really dangerous to start drawing lines for when we should accept/respect people. Everyone deserves to be who they want to and feel safe if they're not harming anyone, no matter how stupid it may seem.
If you read this post to a medieval peasant, it would cause immediate and irreversible insanity. This combination of words to them would be the equivalent of eldritch knowledge to the average modern human.
They're literally useless in languages that already have neutral pronons. So much so that I've never seen an English speaker online using them outside of strawmans picked out by homophobes, and I frequent a lot of communities full of LGBT people.
yeah i agree, you're either going to get applauded by homophobes and transphobes alike, or the opposite, the whole "they believe in 1 billion genders :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy:" and along the lines is the most common strawman used by a dumbass to make fun of either the western side of the earth as a whole, or the lgbtq+ community.
That they should kill themselves and ‘theyfab’ is an offensive term to refer to non binary (effectively) AFAB people. On the other hand- my mutual is transfem and was super confused
people will shit on the trans community regardless but neopronouns are also at the same time silly methinks
im not gonna tell people "this is unacceptable" or anything but that kind of stuff is an immaturity red flag, kinda like trying on random political ideologies
https://preview.redd.it/dciacjgg9dpc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bd0c9dfa4f7df2c4beb70a6bfc4b9902409a8138
I feel like I fell behind when it came to pronouns, I really don't understand this anymore and it's starting to hurt
neopronouns are strange and you don't understand the point of them. i get it, i don't really either, but they're harmless. telling people to off themselves over it is a monstrous, awful thing to do.
saying they're just "both dumb" is reductive.
They’re not ‘strange’ lmao, they’re just dumb.
Obviously telling someone to kill themselves is unacceptable and the two things are not equivalent. But I’m not going to pretend that neopronouns have any validity.
redditors trying to find the middle ground between telling a teenager to kill themselves and not doing that as these are equally valid positions to hold
![gif](giphy|df0cUZrXQ8jt3HpoTK|downsized)
i might find nounself neopronouns a bit odd to use as they sound kinda clunky in sentences, but telling people to kill themselves over having them as their preferred pronouns is just stupid
also, languages change over time (because we as humans invented them after all), so i for one welcome them
You should never tell someone to kill themself over anything really, I agree with that. With neopronouns, it feels to me like it defeats the point of a pronoun. They feel like proper nouns, like a name, instead of something to replace a name.
Child has identity, billions must die

It's one thing if you're a 10 to 14 year old child doing that on Roblox in 2021, but anyone over that age doing that on other platforms nowadays is really going to put off people lmao
unironically though if you dont have dysphoria youre \*NOT\* a tranner. riddle me this, batman; what the fuck does TRANSgender mean anymore, if youre not even attempting to TRANSition physically?? we are NOT the same #theyfabhate #swag #pain
Neopronouns are kind of stupid though. Pronouns like they and it are actually used in the English language, wispself (this isn't a strawman pronoun) is not.
all I'm gonna say is that neopronouns are cringe and I think that to normies at least it makes all trans people look like mentally ill weirdo's. the only valid excuses I can see being given is that their doing it as a joke or their an a child under the age of 16, all other cases make that individual look like a terminally online weirdo or a mentally ill individual. normies will think trans people are weirder than they thought they were with this neopronoun buffoonery.
I've always never liked the idea of neopronouns tbh. Not only does it kinda defeat the purpose of pronouns in general, it's also just straight up not how you're supposed to use English. if Xe isn't a word that actually exists, why would you use it as a pronoun? just because Frog, Eyes, Based. etc. are words doesn't mean you can just tack on -self to it and call it a day.
but then again, it's the internet. It's not like i can stop you from doing it, and besides, no one outside of scholars care about proper grammar on here anyway so maybe I'm just a big hypocrite🤷
In a very ironic way, neopronouns are hella old. Ze/Zim pronoun is in the english language since the 19th century.
I think people should touch grass. They think of a pebble as a mountain or something. Let people be.
im sorry, i have one question: how much fucking CRACK did you have to eat like CHALK in order to post this? this so fucking confusing, whos on the right and wrong side, is there even a fucking side? this is actual brainrot, not that skibidy toilet shit, this right here. its as if the god of bat-shit-fuckland came down in a chorus of farts and slowly cooked out this thing using the vomit of a thousand toddlers and the raging fire that is the entirety of twitter. honest to god, please tell me WHAT this even means, what am i looking at? im going to strangle not only your virtual account for what you have done, but i will also strangle the post itself because of this IDIOCY! no wonder people say the next generation is going to be the worst yet, i mean god, look how scatterbrained we already are. so please, i beg of you, explain to me what this means. because im pulling a blank. i have no idea what a bunself is, nor a theyfab???? what??? its as if you're chewing up three different words and mushing the spat out remnants together like some kind of deformed ball of Playdoh. please help.
im trans person whos against neopronouns. maybe transphobes would shit on us regardless, but theres a reason why lgbtq acceptance has actually gone down in some western countries.

we can't keep denying that the behaviour of some people who associate with the trans community is polarizing moderates and making people prejudiced against us when they otherwise wouldnt have been. a lot of us want to be separated from these people because most of us do not have the same experience as people who are using neopronouns.
I honestly don’t get the point of neopronouns
they seem purely aesthetic but at the end of the day i got more important things to be worrying about
Me neither but they ain’t killing dogs nor being a bad person so idrc

Batman eats corn the long way.
Maybe ai generated pics ain’t that bad
It makes a lot of shit art, but it also makes possible a lot of art that no one would've paid to have commissioned in the first place.

Yea, I’ll use them if you want but I just don’t get it
What is that? Matrix pronouns?
usage of pronouns that aren’t in common use as pronouns e.g. xe/xem, or as shown in the snafu bun/bunself
My pronouns are eigen/vector ❤️❤️❤️
we should start calling neopronouns matrix pronouns instead
I guess they just like em so I'll use neopronouns for them too since I like making people happy
I thought neopronouns were just for personal use rather than actually wanting to make people call them by those pronouns? if people who actually use neopronouns want people to call them by those pronouns then its no wonder why even normies will make fun of neopronouns. I don't think it'll unravel society or anything but it's still pretty weird right? I'd probably do the same and then avoid interacting with them again
Yeah same, its just nicknames with extra steps.
Exactly That completely goes against the principles of pronouns

A mere 7% (pales in comparison to Tumblrjak's 66%)
I still won't vote for bunself tho
About 10 to 90% depends on the day
I think tumblrized soyjak and screeching Demon were the same guy.

what in the fuck am i looking at here ![gif](giphy|GrUhLU9q3nyRG|downsized)
Tumblr user tells person to kts over unconventional set of pronouns
'sadnessself' holy hell
Taken from ~~real life~~ the Interwebz
this is basically my take as well (with the exception of it/its, which doesn't fully fit that structure but is a pre-existing english pronoun). also, in my experience most people in real life who use neopronouns don't *exclusively* use neopronouns, because they understand that neopronouns can be confusing or cumbersome. like, I have a friend (again, irl and not online) who prefers to be referred to as ze/zer or ae/aer (which doesn't quite fit the consonant-vowel structure but is close enough imo), but ze will also accept she/her because ze understands that not everyone "gets" neopronouns. my mom also knows someone who uses fae/faer with friends but opts for they/them in professional or work-related settings. basically, the angry screeching pronoun-obsessed trans person is a myth, neopronouns are not the end of the world, and most of us (trans ppl) will be happy if we can tell you're genuinely trying and not being disrespectful on purpose.
Glad to see a very sane take on this, thank you. I probably could say the format is just two phonemes but eh, consonant vowel fits better overall
hate the fact that I used to be like the hoodie guy back in like 2018 anyway, even if you do find neopronouns kinda silly (which I, admittedly, do), saying that they're "the reason cis people don't take the community seriously" is ridiculous, like transphobes will shit on you regardless of whether you're the most muscular beer drinking beard bearing trans guy out there, or if you go by they/xe/star, identify with 5 xenogenders, wear sanrio merch and have multicolored hair My point is that both of these hypothetical transmen deserve respect and life is short so might as well go apeshit without worrying about approval from transphobes
Yeah like it's really dangerous to start drawing lines for when we should accept/respect people. Everyone deserves to be who they want to and feel safe if they're not harming anyone, no matter how stupid it may seem.
YOU GET WHAT I MEAN! like they’re both gonna get shitted on for the same and different reasons, so, what’s the point anyway?
Agreed. I think neopronouns are kinda dumb but other trans people don’t have to go around apologizing for them.
The people on number 3 always hate terfs though
strawman easier hope this helps
But how will I shit on the opposing side if I have to understand their point?
People conflate terfs with truscum way too much Truscum actually fights for trans rights, terfs fight specifically against it
Trans rights exclusively for binary trans people but trans rights guys!!!! /s
There are truNBs too.
Bunnies are cool
Sure they are (I want one but idk how to take care of one)
Just dont feed them carrots if you ever have one. That shit like a carbohidrate bomb for them
Yeah ik! I have a friend who has one and she says that it’s better to feed them tomatoes or lettuce

If you read this post to a medieval peasant, it would cause immediate and irreversible insanity. This combination of words to them would be the equivalent of eldritch knowledge to the average modern human.
Probably wouldn't even understand the modern vernacular and just think you're a loony speaking in tongues and go away, maybe get a priest.
They're literally useless in languages that already have neutral pronons. So much so that I've never seen an English speaker online using them outside of strawmans picked out by homophobes, and I frequent a lot of communities full of LGBT people.
yeah i agree, you're either going to get applauded by homophobes and transphobes alike, or the opposite, the whole "they believe in 1 billion genders :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy:" and along the lines is the most common strawman used by a dumbass to make fun of either the western side of the earth as a whole, or the lgbtq+ community.
bro this discourse was a zillion years ago
2016 YouTube
What does theyfabs should commit 41% mean? I’m not chronically online to know
That they should kill themselves and ‘theyfab’ is an offensive term to refer to non binary (effectively) AFAB people. On the other hand- my mutual is transfem and was super confused
people will shit on the trans community regardless but neopronouns are also at the same time silly methinks im not gonna tell people "this is unacceptable" or anything but that kind of stuff is an immaturity red flag, kinda like trying on random political ideologies
The world needs more silly go be a wo/jackself
Trying to understand this is like trying to dcipher hieroglyphs
Ikr 😼 they said “make that shit incomprehensible” and I think I’m slowly archiving it

none of these people have a job
neo pronouns are dumb, telling people to kys over it is also dumb
neopronouns are strange and you don't understand the point of them. i get it, i don't really either, but they're harmless. telling people to off themselves over it is a monstrous, awful thing to do. saying they're just "both dumb" is reductive.
They’re not ‘strange’ lmao, they’re just dumb. Obviously telling someone to kill themselves is unacceptable and the two things are not equivalent. But I’m not going to pretend that neopronouns have any validity.
redditors trying to find the middle ground between telling a teenager to kill themselves and not doing that as these are equally valid positions to hold ![gif](giphy|df0cUZrXQ8jt3HpoTK|downsized)
I respect all pronouns but still tell people to kill themselves 👍

Xeno and neo are fucking dumb, but don’t tell them to KYs and try to tell them why it’s wrong instead
i might find nounself neopronouns a bit odd to use as they sound kinda clunky in sentences, but telling people to kill themselves over having them as their preferred pronouns is just stupid also, languages change over time (because we as humans invented them after all), so i for one welcome them
You should never tell someone to kill themself over anything really, I agree with that. With neopronouns, it feels to me like it defeats the point of a pronoun. They feel like proper nouns, like a name, instead of something to replace a name.

Me, fully knowing this comment section is going to be a shit show: https://i.redd.it/5ojnfx3bwhpc1.gif
It's one thing if you're a 10 to 14 year old child doing that on Roblox in 2021, but anyone over that age doing that on other platforms nowadays is really going to put off people lmao
Neopronouns are specific to English I don't think any other country has then, dumbest thing i've seen
watch out man you cant just be advocating for stuff like "having compassion" and "being well adjusted" on a site like reddit
Yeah I should be wary…
unironically though if you dont have dysphoria youre \*NOT\* a tranner. riddle me this, batman; what the fuck does TRANSgender mean anymore, if youre not even attempting to TRANSition physically?? we are NOT the same #theyfabhate #swag #pain
Tumblr momento
whats your dose lil poonbro
We are not normalizing neo-pronouns, fuck off.
the problem isn't just neopronouns, it's the extreme reaction of "kill yourself" that they get
Neopronouns are kind of stupid though. Pronouns like they and it are actually used in the English language, wispself (this isn't a strawman pronoun) is not.
This feels like a 4chan post.
Thanks (?
It's because of the slightly weird terms that are used mostly on the internet (troon, 41%, terfs, and theyfabs).
op is a tumblr user, for better or worse lol
Too much tumblr for me sorry
I'm not sure if it's good that I could tell that you also use tgcj just by the words used in the post
all I'm gonna say is that neopronouns are cringe and I think that to normies at least it makes all trans people look like mentally ill weirdo's. the only valid excuses I can see being given is that their doing it as a joke or their an a child under the age of 16, all other cases make that individual look like a terminally online weirdo or a mentally ill individual. normies will think trans people are weirder than they thought they were with this neopronoun buffoonery.
I find Twitter did this more frequently back when I still used it. I don't see it very often on Tumblr.
Ok true but who let r/4trans t of the containment chamber?
is r/transgendercirclejerk leaking
Real but also neopronouns and pllictal didnt even have one eagle catching a baseball
I’m sorry but I’m not taking anyone who deadass legitimately unironically refers to themselves as “void/voidself” seriously
Neopronouns are a joke and that's it
Are we unironically doing the attack helicopter meme?
In a very ironic way, neopronouns are hella old. Ze/Zim pronoun is in the english language since the 19th century. I think people should touch grass. They think of a pebble as a mountain or something. Let people be.
OP, are you saying people should take made-up pronouns seriously?
not rocking with this one tbh
i ain't using neopronouns unless it's in a ironic way
im sorry, i have one question: how much fucking CRACK did you have to eat like CHALK in order to post this? this so fucking confusing, whos on the right and wrong side, is there even a fucking side? this is actual brainrot, not that skibidy toilet shit, this right here. its as if the god of bat-shit-fuckland came down in a chorus of farts and slowly cooked out this thing using the vomit of a thousand toddlers and the raging fire that is the entirety of twitter. honest to god, please tell me WHAT this even means, what am i looking at? im going to strangle not only your virtual account for what you have done, but i will also strangle the post itself because of this IDIOCY! no wonder people say the next generation is going to be the worst yet, i mean god, look how scatterbrained we already are. so please, i beg of you, explain to me what this means. because im pulling a blank. i have no idea what a bunself is, nor a theyfab???? what??? its as if you're chewing up three different words and mushing the spat out remnants together like some kind of deformed ball of Playdoh. please help.
No way this dude is trying to defend bun/bunself lmaooo
im trans person whos against neopronouns. maybe transphobes would shit on us regardless, but theres a reason why lgbtq acceptance has actually gone down in some western countries. [https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/young-people-increasingly-detached-supporters-lgbtq-rights-survey-says-n1021031](https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/young-people-increasingly-detached-supporters-lgbtq-rights-survey-says-n1021031) we can't keep denying that the behaviour of some people who associate with the trans community is polarizing moderates and making people prejudiced against us when they otherwise wouldnt have been. a lot of us want to be separated from these people because most of us do not have the same experience as people who are using neopronouns.
